For no reason at all, I entered "Brand New World" into the Wikipedia and got the result of Old Fart (Wine). There is actually a French wine that is named "Old Fart."

Considering Sanji's "kuso-jiji" is often translated to Old Fart, it sort of puts the use of that term into a whole new light. Makes me wonder whether or not it was intentional (if not on Oda's part then on Stephen's or whoever it was to first use the translation)

      Statler: No you haven't.

      Both: DOHOHOHOHOHO!

Well, kuso-jiji would be more closely translated as "shitty old man", if I'm not mistaken. I don't think Oda knows about "Old Fart" wine, and even if he did, I don't think he would have thought "hey, maybe someone in America might translate kuso-jiji into "old fart" (because he knows all English slang!) so I'll have Sanji call him something that doesn't mean old fart, but possibly might get translated that way." XD

Besides, there is already also a thread for Oda's inspiration…this would have been better off there then starting a whole thread for it.

It's probably normal to translate kuso-jijii / jijii to old fart. Much like kuso-babaa / babaa as (old) hag. I've seen it in other scanlations as well.

Yeah, less chance Japanese knowing the slang "old fart." If it weren't for scanlation, I wouldn't've known it, either.
