Okay, for the past week now my eyes have been bothering me.
The whole thing started when I strained a muscle in my left eye socket. It didn't hurt my vision or anything, it just hurt to blink, like it was sore. I tried to just ignore it knowing it would go away eventually. And it did. But after that my eyes themselves starting giving me trouble.
It started when they started to feel irritated and sensitive after I read a book or played on my GBA. So I tried laying off that for a little while, but then when I watched an anime DVD my eyes really started bothering me as I read the subtitles. Even being on the computer too long can affect my eyes. I've noticed that they can be affected particularly bad if I'm doing any of this at night.
To put it in a nutshell whenever I concentrate on something (a book, subtitles, browsing through bumper stickers in a store, etc.) my eyes start bothering me. I wouldn't call it pain exactly, they just get really sensitive and can get tired and achy or watery and gummy. Basically it gets to a point where I have to blink at like twice the normal rate to soothe them. The only thing that really seems to work is closing my eyes for a long period of time. Eye drops help, but they're hardly a cure-all. At first I thought this was an after-effect of straining my eye muscle and maybe I wasn't blinking enough (and thus drying my eyes out). But that doesn't seem to be the case. If anything I'm squinting.
Common sense would tell me that I need a new prescription (I do wear glasses, I'm near-sighted). But my overall vision doesn't seem to have worsened at all. It's only when I'm concentrating on something that this happens. And I had my eyes checked only three months ago and they told me I was the same as last time. What gives? Is this like a new allergy or have my eyes really deteriorated in three months?
Sorry about the long post, but this eye-thing is really starting to bother me. Any help/advice would be appreciated.
