Most of the summer I'm gonna be traveling but I'll be back in the last week of July, just in time to get settled in and be prepared to watch the brand new dub.
For the next 6 weeks though I'll be counting all those whacking no good puns. Thankfully though Zoro's fight is up next, and his lines are actually good compared to the rest of the people.

That's the whole reason I don't use beer in drinking games. I know that robs the drinking games of their point, but whatever, pop is fine partly because I hate alcohol.

Yes, Zoro does cluck (alot in the Drum arch) but he was talking about last nights episode, which was with Zolo and Mr 1.

I watched that little scene with Zolo and Mr. 1. I just don't like the fact that Zolo barked like a dog. It is just wrong with me. Anyway I find myself unable for the most part to listen to this dub. Although the VA who does Zolo is trying with the part.
Excuse me. Maybe this has been answered already before, but I have a question: This has been bugging me ever since the news hit the anime community, but I'm really dying to know…... Does anybody know why Toei stripped 4Kids of the One Piece license in the first place?
I don't think anyone really knows, but it kind of goes without saying, doesn't it?
Okay, maybe it doesn't. . .but the best guess would probably be that Toei wants OP to be successful in the states, and 4kids clearly did an awful job with it.

Yeah, but still… I'm curious to know how it happened.
Basically, Toei's contract they wrote up with 4Kids said they could snap up the license if they thought 4Kids wasn't doing a good enough job.

Jeez, they butchered this fight, not as bad as some but still pretty damn bad. It was worse on my TV than on youtube.
The alien music they used in this fight always bugged me. As well as the exchange between the two when the battle ends.
Why did they let 4Kids have it :sad: That was painful :sad: It was almost like they ran the scripts through a Babelfish pun translator.
BTW a good drinking game for that ep would've been to take a shot every time he said "loser"
The cartoony "doink" noise they added had me in stitches.
I didn't think the episode was that bad until Mr. 1 said "that's the way the cookie crumbles" as he made the rubble fall on Zoro.

Zolo just SUDDENLY realizes out of the blue that he could cut steel all along. 4Kids friggin' ruined all of the buildup in the story of him wanting to figure out how and finally doing it in this fight.
Hell, it pissed me off when he was bitching about not sharpening his swords, when he was supposed to be frustrated about not being good enough to cut everyone the hell out of Croc's sea-stone cage (didn't they give him that crappy "Siegfried and Roy" line just in the previous episode?). Thank God FUNi is gonna try and restore some dignity to this series, but I wish they would dub from the beginning, so they could fix Alabasta sooner!
Yes, Alabasta needs fixed ASAP. It is the best arc after all.

Correction! The 4Kids-ified Arlong arc was just a mess of crappy edits and spliced episodes! Compared to that, the 4Kids-ified Alabasta arc is, like, on par with the Cowboy Bebop dub!
I'm still waiting for someone to upload clips of Luffy vs. Arlong, so I can show my friend how one-sided they made the damn thing! They TOTALLY tipped the scales in Luffy's favor, like he had the fight in the bag the whole time! I know I've brought it up several times in the past, but to make matters worse, they even made Luffy recite a "gay little speech" about "the power of human spirit!"
EDIT For the record, I was never irked by the whole "pewman" thing.

how would you feel about a campaign or a something that says Funi should start the uncut DVDsat episodes 130-143 (I don't think anyone would buy that) and then 116-129 or maybe even start with that. With Alabasta as the best arc I'd rather they get to it sooner than later.
would anyone be up for that or is that a bad idea? It's just 4Kids didn't start doing THAT bad until Arlong and it'll take forever for them to get to Alabasta at this rate.

Nah, I'd rather if they do start over sometime, they do it at episode 1. It'd be alot less confusing.

FUNimation has already stated many times that they plan on releasing DVDs from episode one eventually, but for now they are going to continue where 4kids left off with SIGNIFICANT improvement over the 4kids dub.

But come now, coming out with a very belligerent attitude about your disdain for 4kids makes it almost self parodying at this point. Yes 4kids sucks, 4kids ruined One Piece, 4kids gave the dinosaurs aids, etc etc etc is great but does it at all matter if Funimation acknowledges them or not? You'll still get your One Piece one way or another, so why should you be so irked if Funimation has to start at 144 and redub the earlier episodes later? You'll eventually get them, and they'll be great but proclaiming that you won't even support Funimation if they acknowledge 4kids just makes you seem driven more so by your dislike of 4kids treatment of One Piece then how much you like One Piece.
Sorry its just I'll believe something will be different regarding One Piece when I see it.

But I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm sure FUNi will pull out an impressive product. I don't think I've ever seen you be happy about this, Skull Kid. All I've seen you do is worry about stuff and whatnot, and still, somehow, relate 4Kids to all of it. Or complain about Toei. Or Viz.

Now let me explain how things work in the grown-up world. FUNi has license. They have contract with CN. They have to have episodes 144-205 done before they can start on episode 1. So after they get those done, they got to get episodes 1-13 done before they need to start releasing DVDs. If they don't have em done, they are going to start with 143.
This was explained already in the AB thread. If you want to whine about things that have a reason, please do it somewhere else.
