I want to make a YT video that just has a static image, but plays music, like you see on some OST-dedicated channels. What program do I use to do this? How would I do this?
Making a YouTube video

if you have windows then try windows movie maker. its fairly easy to use and if you cant get it to work then feel free to ask

any editing software, really. you could use windows movie maker or iMovie, which are 2 of the most common on PC or Mac, respectively.
simple import your song and picture into the program after opening it (there should be hundreds of "importing into (software)" videos for any editing program. then, place the picture on the timeline (preferably a file like .jpg but many formats work), then the song on underneath it in the audio track. Then, depending on what software, you can either stretch the image clip or just copy/paste it a punch of times so it fits with the length of the song. then, export as desired video format - preferably something smaller like a mpeg or avi, but mov works too (as do many) (plenty of tutorials on this, also), and upload!

Looks like it went pretty smoothly. Some griefs -
1. There are bars around the video I uploaded, though in MovieMaker I don't see any bars. How do I get rid of the bars on YouTube?
2. The music ended up double length. It was originally five minutes long, but somehow became a ten minute repeat. How do I fix this? -
Bars? Do you mean like, something to do with the aspect ratio or resolution size? Or literally, there's magic bars around the video?
-
The image I uploaded is white, but there's bars like one would see in wide-screen around the image.
Looks like

Goto View - Aspect ratio - and choose Widescreen iso standard.

Do I do that in MovieMaker, or on YouTube?

On moviemaker, I have the windows 7 one, and I had the same problem. Hope it helped.
