For some reason, I was thinking a bit about a Bo-bobo fighting game with engines that sort of cross together between one of the DBZ games (like one of the Budokai, not sure) and the "teamup" aspect of something like the "Marvel vs. Capcom" series. (some would say KoF, but hear me out first) Because of the vast amount of characters in this world, they would be divided between main fighters (characters with a decent amount of skills and fighting and such) and minor "assist characters" (more minor but just as memorable). While you would start off with a small amount of characters, you would gain more and more playable (and assist) characters as you go along various requirements such as special fighting zones and encounters by certain characters), with special "gag" and fusion characters gained through harder circumstances.
As for who would be "playable", here are my thoughts (in spoiler box to save space):
! Initial Fighters: Bo-bobo, Don Patch, Softon, Heppokomaru, Tokoro Tennosuke, Gunkan, Dengaku Man (may have an eigth, but not sure who to be…either Suzu or move Hatenko here)
Maruhage Empire: Hatenko, Rice, "The Civilization Ninja Team", OVER, Torpedo Girl, The Prison Murder Brothers, Halekulani, J, Giga
Old Maruhage Empire: Barayuri Kikunojo, Ukijin TOKIO, Combat Blues, Jeda the Wind God, Rububa the Bubbles, Rem, Lambada, Hanpen, Tsuru Tsurulina the III
New Empire Playoff/Reverse Maruhage: Nenchaku, Yami Yasha/Sambaman, Halon Oni, The Three Sacks, Crimson, LOVE, Byakko, Be-bebe, Hydrate
New Hair Kingdom: Bu-bubu, Fine, Bird of Paradise (either regular or posessed), Hell Dolphin, Icen, Shigeki X, Wandering Tofu, Goisu, Shigeki X (true form), Bi-bibi (Kami no Ge Shinken on Easy-Hard, Kegari Shinken on Very Hard)
Fusions: BoboPatch, BoboPatchnosuke, Denbo, Patchbobo, Tenbobo, Kintenbo, Yokohama Junko, "Extra Dandy" Bo-bobo (debating on that)
"Joke Characters": Kancho, Despair, Gaoh (he probably would be the hardest character to unlock since he's a shout-out to Shinsetsu...and we meet him first as opposed to Namero or Pokomi)
