this arc is a typical one where the good guys have to win and can't just lose and let nirvana go off doing its thing, so obviously the good guys, who are much weaker as shown just earlier have to have some type of power up quick. its better that its a random one time deal versus a perminant thing like bleach out of nowhere deals.
tell me what you would have wanted to happen. this is only wya it makes sense for good guys to win. who knows if possibly gerard at 100% could have beat him, but we all know the fanbase sees gerard as sasuke and would hate it if he did anything.
Except that Nightmare Luffy didn't defeat Moria. Nightmare Luffy sent Moria into a frenzied madness that caused Moria to defeat himself. Natsu is going to destroy Zero now and it will be fun in a very shallow, self-gratifying way. And then we move on to more Super Awesome Gerard Drama Hour. I seriously love Gerard just for messing with this series all the time, and at the same time he's Mashima's bitch to his very core. Good story telling has the characters telling the writer what they're supposed to do, not the other way around. This way it feels forced. But hey, I'm entertained. Surely not on the same level as anything of actual worth, but I don't look to Fairy Tail of all things for ANY value. That'd be stupid.
Agreed, this series is fine and completely enjoyable. If people don't like it they either shouldn't read it, or not post on forums complaining about it. I hate bleach but I don't read it just to complain; when it started sucking I quit reading. Naruto sucks and I do read it, but you don't find me posting in the Naruto thread just to complain. All you do when you insult series is make the fans mad, and quite frankly we really don't care about your bad opinions of the series

If your on a one piece fan site, everyone jizz's over anything in one piece and seems to praise it non stop, never criticizing it, even though there are plenty to critize about. And then basically every other form of media on that site may start out as a fan club, but then because posters want to how how superior they are to others they just knack on the manga constantly and do so until people that do enjoy it quit going to that topic because they are annoyed by the posters. Thus it turns into just a purely bashing topic.

And I have nothing against intellectually discussing things either, but a lot of times there's nothing intellectual about what bashers have to say. And maybe it's just me, but when I read a new chapter of Naruto (again, which is a series I hate) I don't go online to share what I hated about every new chapter. I guess it's just a thing about me being a cosplayer. At cons a general understanding is you don't insult a series someone is cosplaying from because it's the same as insulting their actual cosplay. It's just a level of respect we have for each other, and I try to do the same online.

It isn't watching a good series turn bad that makes it a good trainwreck, since the series wasn't that good to begin with. (it's had it's moments though) The reason watching the Fairy Tale trainwreck is worth it is because it's funny, just like Naruto's.
I don't read bad manga for the sake of bashing it, I read bad manga for the humor derived from bashing it. I dropped Reborn! because not only was the series fucking terrible but there was nothing worthwhile to see or say after "This Vongola box shit is gay".
While Naruto is damn near parodying itself, Fairy Tale has it's own brand of jaded humor which comes from it's downright funny predictabilty, shameless ripping of shonen cliches, people trying to defend it ("act like you like sucky manga, then you'll be able to enjoy this!") and the almighty Gerard factor. It's pretty much what gave birth to the Fairy Tale arc checklist. (Which needs 'manly tears' added by the way) The fact that there are people who take this series seriously (pun unintended) just makes the lol factor even greater. There isn't anything remotely award worthy in this manga since Phantom Lord ended, yet this series got one.
In short stop fucking asking that question if you know the answer.

I did read his, and thought I addressed it. If you read/watch or whatever only to bash it in forums you are a TROLL. most sites would ban people like this, and you probably would get banned if you did that crap in the one piece section. But like I said this is a one piece forum, thus it seems like the mod's feel its acceptable to troll any other form of media as long as its not One Piece.
And that is fine and all, not gonna tell mod's of their own site how to run it, just would appreciate it if you guys would stop trolling topics. I have not been a fan of naruto for quite some time, yet i still read it. There are other manga/anime i've seen/read that i found pitiful, and heck even some are ones that seem to be loved by many. but I just ignore the topics regarding them. People should already figure out by now that no matter how bad the chapter is, unless the name of the series is Naruto - then no one should bash, complains and criticizes it. Only Naruto gets the bashing even if it was only a spoiler and not an actual chapter.
Other series such as Bleach, KHR!, Fairy Tail etc still can be defend no matter how weak their argument is.
On the side note, do we have "What you dislike about One Piece" thread here at AP? I'm interested to know what most people don't like about it. Haki should probably be there among the top list.

This arc hasn't been ALL awful(that said the series seems to be getting a little weaker each arc), although Gerard being the plot twist of every arc is getting rather predictable and stupid.

i thought the failed fairy law was the best part of that whole arc. Luxus wanted soo bad to prove how strong he was and got so strong and even learned what appears to be his grandfathers stronest attack, but when all was said adn done his heart was just not into it. he just coudlnt' be evil. i thouht that was great.

btw kind of confused with the whole gerard/wendy thing. i was under the impression that gerard/erza and friends were captives their whole life since birth in that tower building it. and then erza managed to escape. gerard and his friends stayed, but seemed to be free to leave whenever cause gerard was in charge. and he did leave part of himself to become council member.
but wouldn't he be the evil gerard and not this friendly, kind lost gerard from wendy's memories? Or did it say that gerard erza and friends were captured when young at some point. Or is this gerard not actually gerard from wendy's flashback but instead mistgun, but then how does she know the name gerard?

Mystogan using an illusion to hide his face seems to make perfect sense, but it's still a bit mysterious why he'd still have the illusion up when he's got his mask on, when he's alone. After the big reveal, we can clearly tell it's him, even through the mask.
And why would he choose the face of a council member, (Or Former, which is an even worse idea) to hide his own identity? If someone did see his face, I would think the council would probably try and capture the terrorist known as Gerard. Or zombie.
Now that I think of it, Gerard joining Fairy Tail doesn't make a whole lot of sense further down the line. Not only would there be two Gerards Gerarding about, but Gerard is kind of a criminal. Just saying. The council would definitely find out about it.
So: Gerard will kick the bucket again before this arc is over.
Quite late with the discussions but… didn't Mistgun said at the end of the Luxus arc after revealing his face that he isn't Gerard? Who knows, though. He might just be lying, or he's a clone, or they're just really that similar face-wise.

Not that it really matters. Wasn't the council dissolved after the Gerard incident anyways? (if I recall, one of the members was working as a chef or something when we saw him before the current arc or the Luxus arc) Besides, the guild doesn't really seem to care that much about the rulings of the council, as stated way back in the second chapter.

Gerard was indeed using fire magic to aid Natsu. Yaye for another anti-climactic fight where random eating of fire gives Natsu the power to win, instead of training, cleverness, skill, or an actual growth in strength.
I mean, its got the "sheer force of will overcomes all" and "fighting for my friends gives me strength" aspect of Shonen down pat, but it always feels like something is missing when Natsu BSes his way through the end of these battles, in a way it never did for Goku, and only rarely for Luffy or Naruto.
Could it be that the oh-so-hated training arc is actually needed here? Or is it just that there's ALWAYS a surprise endboss, so we never really see Natsu get beaten down by the one guy, stay down, then come back for ound 2 many chapters laters? Or maybve its just cause its always Natsu, even though everyone says Erza is far stronger and she always has to get hadnicapped beforehand?
Oh well, that aside, the color frontpiece was fun. But shouldn't Gray be in his skivies instead of bundled up in the winter picture?

well the latest episode shows that they are not totally against being ecchi. there was quite the cleavage shots from our two leading ladies.
otherwise it finally getting to point where the show is fun to watch and not so set up beggining feeling. nice thing about fairy tail is that it does it so quick, unlike one piece it took like 20 some episodes before you had all the members.
edit: and went through chapter 15, so first 5 episodes covered 15 chapters. no one can say that this show is starting off slow, lol. especially considering that beginning of series have way more content in each chapter than later and usually much larger chapters. though it seems fairy tail even now has a lot fo times that are 25 pages or so.
