Oda always does a good job drawing his fights but seeing Gear 2 in motion was just freakin' awesome.

Yea that's true, the manga was faster, but I was refering to how the fight was alot more in depth if you can call it that since the manga doesn't fully show the fight, because it really can't. Well that's my opinion anyways.

I agree that it actually seems a step down from the manga. It was better in my head when there was no retraction from the strike or even a visual on it. Only the explosion of the impact. But I guess you need to spell things out for those with…. ah hell... stupid people.

it's still awesome watching it… I love how they did the ending with showing bazooka 5 times XD But I guess they can't have Luffy not move at all or else in the anime it wouldn't totally make sense, it was easier to show the impact in the manga. And I mean,come on, it was still cool.
hey... my friend is telling me Lee from Naruto could kick Luffy's ass O_O! I totally don't think so XD... even though I've never seen it XD

Now that I think about it, Lee's gates are very similar to Luffy's gears. They both turn red and become godly in power. Gear 2nd is awesome in this clip

does your friend know luffy can't be hurt by normal physical attacks? becuz thats all lee can do. He is awesome, but stands no chance against luffy.

any of the attacks that you can clearly see him hit are ones that aren't in the manga, the others are a step faster and just the right speed so that the fight remains awsome animated

and after watching Lee fight, he probably could, in fact, hurt Luffy, but beat him?… meh too hard to see, they're too different. personally I think they should work together =D and yes woozy it's from 273

I think he just meant that if it was shown exactly how it was in the manga, it might be confusing. Like how some people were saying gear 2nd used projectile attacks, now mind you, If you said that, that doesn't mean you're stupid, it just saves a lot of headaches that way. I enjoyed it and I know he doesn't think Im stupid.

So it appears that his body heats up quite a lot. That'd mean he can counter Ao Koji's Ice attacks now right?

I know Luffy's powerful but wouldn't you basically have to evaporate Aokiji, afterall if he's like Iceman, he could reform himself and potentialy live forever

No. A hard enough atk should be able to hurt Ao Koji. Ice unlike Fire or Smoke is a physical substance, so a hard enough might be able to do something. ALthough we'll just have to wait and see what the actual weakness there is for him, other then the possible Fire atks.

But yeah, I'm waiting to see his real weakness. Because the only way I can see to beat him is if Ace or someone melted him. Of course, that would kill him.

Did anyone else start to feel sorry for Blueno in that fight? All the extra filler attacks in the fight seemed to make him completely pathetic compared to the manga. It also seemed to take away the impact Luffy seemed to have in the manga, where just a few hits put Blueno down.
The animation was pretty awesome. Not what I had in my head, but it was still pretty sweet.

Obviously the fight was better in manga, but I have to agree that this was pretty fucking beautiful. I hope they're saving those higher budget episodes for the upcoming real fights tho. :|

In short: yeah. For me, the anime took away a lot of power from Gear 2nd.
The scene in the manga really aggrandizes Luffy by showing that Blueno has nothing on him. Four hits and Blueno is toast.
In the anime, it seems that Luffy had to do much more to Blueno to put him down. It's still domination, but not quite the domination the manga shows.As for Blueno, the anime shows him completely shocked and agast at Gear 2nd. Perhaps it was getting to hear his voice and reaction to it that really set me off.
In the manga, Blueno's purpose, to me, is to showcase how powerful Gear 2nd is compared to CP9 techniques. Like i said, 4 hits and he was knocked out - which shows just how powerful Luffy has become in Gear 2nd. I felt the anime drags the scene on to show Gear 2nd animated, thus making Blueno seem even more pathetic a character to its power (not that he was much of a character in the first place). Also, he keeps getting up from several hits from Gear 2nd: shouldn't it just down him in 1 or 2?It's still an awesome scene, but the manga had more of an impact. Luffy's animated Gear 2nd seemed less powerful, and Blueno was a huge pussy.
But that's just how I saw it :P

Yeah- i kind of felt sorry for Blueno. Unlike with when Bellamy got pwned big time- i was laughing my ass of at that.

Not that type of attack. I mean, like the attack Luffy used on Crocodile- it seemed as if Croco actually felt it. I'm sure if Luffy does it now with Gear 2/3- he can do some damage to him. Then again- Koji is Admiral so anything is possible with this dude.

I get what people are saying about it mlooking like Blueno was able to take more than he could but the animation for the fight was godly, droolworthy, amazing, i'm glad i got to see it. can't wait to see how they manage to work the Sanji vs Jyabura fight.

I'll have to go back and check but I think Paulie chocking luffy with his ropes and Lucci attacking luffy during the Galley-La fight hurt him. Like I said I'm sure i can find something else given time. Anyway, after watching this clip, I can see why everyone thinks Lucci is out of it.

I agree with some of the comments about the filler attacks slightly ruining Gear Second, but I still enjoyed seeing those extra moves. It's great to see Gear Second animated. And I'm glad they (possibly) slowed it down slightly, to allow people to realise that Luffy is mearly moving faster than before and not releasing some kind of ki/wind blast style attack.
All in all, great stuff. Can't wait to see the future Gear scenes animated. Need to work on a Gear Second gif for my sig.

Man, that was awesome. Not as good as the manga though. Jet Bazooka didn't seem to have much of a devastating impact I was expecting… I did like how Blueno was scared as shit and stuff. It was hilarious. I'm not a big Blueno fan, so I have been eagerly anticipated this scene.
Jet Bazooka just looked like Luffy dashed up to him really fast...
