Old villians…..particularly buggy

Why do people always assume that old villians would be a piece of cake for the strawhats now? It might make sense for Arlong or Kuro, who are pretty much out of commission or in jail. But for a pirate like Buggy and his crew, they are also on the Grandline moving from island to island.

If the strawhats can improve there skills from island to island, so can Buggy's crew. Just because you win a fight against a person before, doesnt mean it will be just as easy or easier the next time u fight that person. People improve at different rates and do different training.

I know this is a Shounen manga, but villians that stick around in the story skill level does not stay the same. They improve as well. It is only natural.

I agree completley. I too can understand the likes of Arlong, Krieg and Kuro dying by luffy's hand. but buggy is travelling the GL. He IS getting stronger.

It would…be pretty lame if they turned the likes of Buggy and Foxy into pure comedy relief and Luffy was able to take them both out with a single gatling attack.

Foxy should return too, and I hope he doesn't give up. He lost, but he's got lots of spirit like Usopp does (even though he cheats to keep that spirit). Everyone else from Morgan-Kuro-Krieg-Arlong-Bellamy will be a piece of cake now, and there would be nothing wrong with THEM getting taken out easily (although the thought of them dying works, and I wouldn't be saddened by it. There are disposable villains, and then there are the ones with potential).

Not that he's my favorite villain.. but at least he didn't have a DF and could put up a fight/take a hit.

Also Gin is part of his crew.. and Gin is cool, he has a Kaku "aww I feel sorry for him" quality. Besides wouldn't it be cool to see them rebuilt their fleet and even maybe have Gin be captain hey it could happen.

Personally I do hope Krieg and Gin (even Pearl) show up again, their crew had potential, I mean sure they're no Buggy, but a badass like Gin should be given a second chance at redeption in this world of pirates, don't you think?

How do you know what people Buggy is fighting against? I feel that Buggy and his crew will be one of the last obstacles to the crew and I do not think that it will be an easy fight.

As far as I know, no one here is using that assumption. All we've said is that some villains don't have the potential others do, and that Buggy shouldn't be regarded as a weakling, the complete opposite of what you've said.

My prediction is that Buggy is going to finally meet up with Luffy, Whitebeard, and Shanks on Raftel. There is going to be a free-for-all between the pirate crews on the island to get to One Piece. I say this 'cause when you stop to think about Buggy's DF and if he trains it to the extent Luffy is training his, Buggy has one helluva DF ability. Near logia type control anyone ?

Based on what we know of Buggy it is unlikely that he is getting a lot stronger in Grand Line.

We know Buggy has been Pirate ever since his young days along with Shanks. He was at one point in Grand Line where he saw White Beard. How much stronger has he became from those days? Nowhere near as much as Shanks. While Buggys' name is known in East Blue, his bounty is 15 Mil.

Shanks already was a captain of his own pirate crew and ship 11 years ago. In 11 years Shanks name became known and respected worldwide. WG keeps tabs on Shanks which is indication how strong he must be.

Luffy became pirate at 17 and in less than half a year has 100Mil Bounty and after Enias Lobby will likely be also known world wide with even higher bounty. Luffy is getting stronger with every opponent. I can't see Buggy growing in strength as fast or as much in same period.

I would love to see if Buggy has learned to master his devil fruit (eg. Gomu Storm) or learned any new techniques (eg. Gear 2 & 3), it'd actually be pretty funny to see what Buggy's been up to. I'd like to know what his current status is once Enies Lobby is over, like a chapter or two about him, during the intermission saga.

The last time we saw Buggy, he was looking for treasure in the Grand Line and he bumped into Ace. In contrast to Luffy, Buggy sees treasure almost completely as material wealth, so gold and other artifacts are especially important to him. He has most likely not trained as extensively as Luffy, but I could see him building up his crew and becoming a larger and potentially stronger force. I personally like the idea of other defeated villains such as Foxy forming a coalition with him to try and battle the Strawhat crew. As for the lack of a bounty increase, Buggy is waiting for Luffy to get a larger bounty. He figures that he will have to do less work to become famous since he can go and defeat Luffy and gain notoriety as a low-bounty pirate who defeats high-bounty pirates.

As for other villains, each one required a particular strategy to defeat. Most of them were not beaten by brute force alone. Therefore, there is an additional element to villains fighting won another that is difficult to factor in when the "who would win in a fight" question is presented.

I also, personally, believe that Buggy will be one of the last obstacles that the Strawhat crew will have to overcome. He is a recurring character and his DF is a most wonderful contrast to Luffy's. I feel quite confident that Oda will bring Buggy back and make him incredible.

i'm thinking along the lines of what nullsh said regarding the experience and careers of buggy, shanks and luffy. compared to luffy and shanks, buggy has shown very little potential as a strong villain. i mean he's probably been a pirate for over 20 years and didn't even establish himself as a major threat to the seas. although is chop chop fruit powers are pretty formidable against a swordsman, there's only a certain amount of shock a body can take. like crocodile says, a devil fruit is only as powerful as the person who wields it. one hit from a gear second jet bazooka and buggy would be knocked 10 miles away.
but i would like to see ghin again. he's one of my favorite antagonist characters in one piece. we may see a mini cover series about him.

The biding thing had nothing to do with strengh. It's just because Buggy is so obessed with money he will wait 'till Luffy gets a bigger bounty too get more money. though I don't really take that statment seriously. Well, it's been implied with several characters that we'll be seeing them again, and not just villains.

1. Buggy - well no freakin' kidding. I don't think I can add much that hasn't been said already (although I readily LOVE the idea of an East Blue coalition against Luffy, just to see how some of the older villains would deal with newer crewmembers).
2. Don Krieg - Gin said he would see Sanji on the Grand Line, and we know that DK's crew was strong enough to survive Grand Line for a week before running into Mihawk (and admittedly, Mihawk versus anyone right now is a tad bit unfair).
3. Vivi - I don't honestly think she's going to join, but the implication with the end of her storyline is that she will always be considered a nakama of the SHs, which makes me wonder if there will be a Vivi reunion at some point.
4. Jango and Fullbody - they're Hina's bitches right now. We haven't had an actual fight with Hina yet and she's pretty badass.
5. Smoker and Tashigi - like Smoker was just going to give up after that little incident is Arabasta. . . yeah right. For the record, I don't consider these two badguys - many other Marines I DO consider villains, but they aren't inherently corrupted or evil or anything.
6. Mr. 0-3 - The BW cover arc looks way too open ended for Oda to just leave it alone. We also know some of the cover arcs blend back into the main storyline - Buggy is a perfect example, as is Jango (who also appears in the BW cover arc).
7. Blackbeard - wants Shicibukai status by taking out Luffy and crew. I don't think he's done.
8. Ace - will probably show up around the time Blackbeard does (or get mad at Luffy for defeating Blackbeard).
9. Shanks - Luffy needs to give him the hat back. Usopp needs to reunite with Yassopp.
10. Axe Hand Morgan - he escaped from the Marines and is currently at large - we don't know what's happened with him yet.
11. Koby and Helmeppo - implied that Koby and Luffy will meet as great Marine and great pirate someday in the future.
12. Lots of other people I am too tired to list right now.

These cases and probably a few more have enough forshadowing to suggest that Oda may or may not revisit these characters at a later time - especially the villains. I know most of these are a "we'll meet again" someday type thing, but it's a strong enough suggestion that a theory could hold water. Is it possible all, none, or some of these characters see the SHs again? Sure. But the forshadowing and potential red herrings are there.

Meaning he will have to fight to get treasure. and we know he is very willing to do that. though if his Nakama is in danger, he would fight for that too. The bounty reflects the level of danger the pirate poses to the government. If Buggy is very strong, the government will see him as a threat. However, Luffy has nakama that the government doesn't want alive, has openly waged war against the government, and has defeated one of their most powerful forces, the CP9, and is going to defeat an even stronger force, Buster Call.

Buggy isn't a guy who will stand up against a stronger foe. Ace's visit to Buggy proved that, as Buggy didn't dare mess with Ace in fear of Whitebeard. With a foe as strong as the WG, Buggy will move as incognito as possible. So how will he get through the Grand Line? By being a sly cowardly thief who only challenges the easy stuff and avoids the hard stuff.

Now, I'm just using my intuition to make a judgement on Buggy's attitude. There's nothing wrong with that, and if I'm wrong, that's alright. I'll have learned something. If I'm right, that'll reinforce my faith in my instincts.

Buggy should come back. He's a reoccuring minor character. Oda's stated he's his favorite villain. His ability makes him the exact opposite of Luffy, and it also shows in his views on life (Buggy seems more treasure and pleasure, Luffy does things for others, regardless of consequences.), but they both share similar views on nakama. He has adoring fans. He deserves to come back into the main plot and fight Luffy again. I don't care if his bounty went up or not, but he should have gotten noticeably stronger, so long as he gets some more spotlight. This also applies to other villains, but Buggy takes priority here.

It was cuz of Whitebeard. To his knowledge Ace was asleep. And he could stab and killl him. It wasn't even his idea, it was Mohji's.

Both are Logias…. Even Luffy , ran away ( And Luffy is a Guy who is not interessted at the strengh of others) because he knows he cant beat Smoker

And Buggy wasnt scared of Ace and he could easily kill Ace as he sleep but he knows Whitebeard in some Point we dont know (hope we will see some Backstory next arc)

I doubt that. Plus Garp went to get Morgan. And John Giant did announce luffy's first bounty. Both these maries are ages above morgan or luffy (at least at that time). And if Arlong went on a rampage in east blue. what would be the point of defeating him in the first place?

I'm just voicing my opinion and explaining it that's all. There's no way to prove that Buggy's going to be weaker or stronger than Luffy. In fact, there's no way to prove anything in One Piece at all. The existence of a Devil Fruit should already give you the clue that impossible and illogical things are going to occur, so proving them is practically useless! We try to make sense of things as a fun past time. There's no real value otherwise.

Quit trying to argue. It's not enjoyable, and there's no good reward. In fact, the arguement is impossible to settle, even if One Piece ends, since there's always the "what if" factor. With so many possibilities that could happen at a virtually equal chance, there is no "proof" of anything at all. What you're doing is like an editor asking the author for proof that a fantasy concept is plausible.

Not at all, the Logue Town events were pretty serious, and the fact that Ace was going to lead Buggy to Luffy.
