Oda just didn't change it to Gigantosu because IMO, that sounds less cool than just Giganto.

No, gigant most definitely is the german equivalent for the english "giant". So if giant pistol makes sense, then gigant pistol must make sense too. That is if Oda wanted to have a german term in there, which he uses rarely in attack names anyway.

Kinai is right. Gigant is most definitely a german spelling. In spanish (and most probably other roman languages) it is Gigante.

It would also be wa-i-to a-u-to but none of us would call it whito outo wouldn´t we. The reason why there is no u at the end which is the letter mostly used for silent vocals is because there is no such kana as "tu" in japanese so the "to" is used.

Furthermore if it had to be gigante then Oda could easily have written it as gi-ga-n-te. But he didn´t. IMO obviously for the just described reason.

The Gigantes, the orginal Giants of greek myth. I think it's funny that there is a random greek word in there, especially since the only giants seen so far are those from Elbaf…which seem to be more like Vikings or something then anything else. So, I guess it just makes his attack mythical in nature and makes me real tired...goes to find reading glasses
