Flood!

I may have to evacuate my house due to the strong possibility for a FLOOD! My family has everything planned out, and I just need to pack and back up my computer (In progress as I type). SO I am pretty much prepared… and that's it. But according to one of the news channels around here it says our area won't flood, but it seems like it will and areas around are being evacuated for being near streams and stuff. and I am in the North East so I pretty sure it's not a hurricane.

Edit: Finished Packing, just need to wait for the backing up to finish, then I need to pack the external drive.

Edit 2: Well it seems we will have to evacuate by Wedsenday Night or thrusday because now the river is supposed to crest at 38-40 Ft, and the Dike only is 40-41 Ft. Or something. And the evacuation is ordered at 36 Ft.

Hope your house isn't ruined, I always see those type of warnings on the local news channel and just ignore them thinking nothing will happen.

Well the house I live in survived the worst flood the area has had, so I pretty sure it will be safe. UNLESS THIS ONE IS WORSE!!! Which some people are saying…

Ok, a Mandatory Evacuation has been set for my area and we have to leave by 8:00 PM today EST, or EDT, I don't know which. But it's really sunny out for now.

Good luck, I hope your house doesn't get damaged by the flood. Where do you go when your evacuated anyway do they send you some place like a school gym or something lame like that. Or do you just go to some hotel out of the flood zone?

Well I'm back and my neighborhood had no flooding at all.

The evacuation was a "precautionary measure" if the dikes were to break because they were never used with this much water. The odd thing is that alot of the National news channels came to my city to cover the whole flooding, but my city is one of the few that didn't flood, but the nearby K-Mart is ruined… again. Along the rest of the shopping plaza nearby. Because during the last flood 2 years ago K-Mart was ruined, but added saftey measures to not get ruined agaain, but they didn't work.

Now I want to know what they do with the ruined mechandise...

you must live in the NE part of the US. I heard there was flooding over there. It's funny. I live just north of that area, in Canada, and somehow we're missing the crazy rain. We have been getting 5 min down pours here and there.

Glad to hear you didn't get flooded. That would not be a fun mess to deal with.
