Just got home from seeing this movie. I thought it was pretty good, considering I wasn't expecting much… anyone else gonna see it?
Its sorta funny cuz I'm not a huge Super Man fan, but still, it was enjoyable, lots of good cg and all that....

i thought it was out next week!
i wanna see it, but judging from the previews….
well, apparently i was invited to a sneek peek…. got in for free and everything, how could i refuse XD
but yeah, its a lot better than the previews let on
yeah i just got home too. i didn't get to watch the IMAX 3D copy though, it wasn't done being built until like 2am, and no one wanted to have to wait then be there until like 5am….
i liked it! FREAING BAD ASS!!!!
I feel sad for superman though, his love life sucks! =(
the spiderman3 trailer TOTALLY KICKED!!! it looks so awesome! i can't wait another year!!! booo!!!
anyway, iot was awesome, and i can't watit to watch it in the imax today with the 3D stuff! sweetness!
wtf, u lucky sons of bitches. Watching it sooner than the rest of us.
…topic already.
Quick question, did the ending make it seem nescarry for a sequal like in Batman Begins?
dude it just ends. superman returns ALREADY is a sequal to all the originals. they make references to them the whole movie. so i could care less if they made more. it would be nice if they did i think! but it just ends. but im sad cuse of what they did with the relationship with lois….
Can't wait to go see it tommorow. It looks great.
I'm probably not gonna see it. My incentive for going was the Spidey 3 trailer. But since I've seen it already, there's no point.
Superman is lame, imo.
@The:
Superman is lame, imo.
I will second that, he has almost every super power thought up and can really do whatever he wants too. Plus the storylines used in the comics and Smallville are not that good. The smallville show should just be called Superman now, hell Clack is out of high school and just being a bum. Get into the damn costume already.
The costume that is used in the new movie looks really bad by the way. Almost to the point of being made with gay fuel.
Give me Batman and Spider-man anyday.
Okay, first of all I'm kinda pissed that I didn't get to see the Spiderman 3 trailer but thats what the Internet is for. Anyways, I just got back from seeing it and let me say, for those who have seen it… I never knew Superman was the cause of Skypiea. I guess the knock up stream was just a big cover up. XD And yeah, it was pretty good since I have like very little interest in Superman. Changed me thats for sure.
BARGH, I could have gone and seen it yesterday for FREE and I freakin forgot. >:(
The new Spiderman trailer is playing before the movie, even though it comes out like, next May.

yeah, i was kinda pissed there were no trailers at the premiere that i went to… ah well.
and yes that makes perfect sense,
! skypiea is apparently made of kryptonite XD
it kinda did make me appreciate super man a bit more…
man the IMAX copy is such a let down!!!!
there is only 20 mins of 3D and they aren't even the good scenes!!!
instead of having the opening being 3D they have the stupid FARM scene in 3d! WHY is that scene even IN the movie????
then the plane and boat part in 3D ~ that is to be expected ~ but the only other part is the last 10 seconds when he flies away! why is that 3D and not the big finalle!????? god! such a let down….
so don't see it in IMAX i guess....well wait...yeah see it in IMAX, but don't think all the cool parts will be 3D.
the movie is still awesome though!
Hah. I didn't even get to see it in IMAX despite the fact that me and my buddy ordered the tickets for it. The first blow was the fact that the IMAX screen was about the same size as a normal screen. Secondly she show was supposed to start at 10:00. And shit hit the fan when the 3d trailers had started but there was absolutely no sound. Now I'm not sure why this was the case but at 10:30 a manager came out and told us that it would take them 30 minutes to sync it all up. 30 minutes became 45 minutes until we found out that unforunately they could not show us the IMAX version but instead we were aloud to get 2 free movie passes and see a free showing of Superman Returns in a normal theatre. Now, this would be honky dory sans the fact that someone who worked there and was offduty sat behind me, and he had told his friends that no one working at the theatre had any idea how to fix the problem. When we moved to the other theatre though the during the trailers they were hyping IMAX to which the entire crowd booed the shit out of, and right before the movie started the power went off in the theatre for a second, which sure made alot of people happy. But it was cool to get 2 free tickets. And considering all I do is nothing I really couldn't complain
As for the actual movie
! 1. I loved Spacey as Luthor, although I didn't like the interaction with that chick she was with at all. Who was she exactly?
2. The Christ allusion/inversion (Father dying for son) was kind of a given but still it feels like an easy allegory/plot coupon
3. How the hell could Lois not realize Clark and Superman were one in the same, she made whoopie with SM!
4. Also Luthor's diabolical plan was lame, although it did give birth to Skypiea
5.On that note, how the hell did it not like kill Superman lifting that shit
6. Superman has a baby?
It's long, but I had a long night/day
HAHAH! a power outage!?? hahaha!!! dude, when i was workingn the power went out for a SPLIT second! and i had to run around the ENTIRE building turning projectors back on, and turning sound back on! haha cuse just a tiny sec of power outage causes chaos!
as for IMAX, if imax breaks….then the shit goes DOWN, it is really hard to fix imax problems, and if their sound was messed up, it's because whoever works there didn't prep everything beforehand correctly.
and it's not REALLY the same size as a normal screen. imax currently runs the hollywood movis and retains their widescreen aspect ratio. Superman is a SCOPE movie, or "super wide screen" so it looked small, but it was actually bigger than ANY 35 mm print you saw in a regular theater. you just really couldn't tell. but the imax version will be absolultely perfect. the image will let you see tiny details, and sound is better. and it runs smoothly. so by not seeing imax, you do miss out....but it's not such a big deal.
feel sorry for the guys at that imax! must of gotten in a shitload of trouble! hahah
Wow, this movie was great. The drama and story was good, the actors were good, and the way things were done were great.
Whoever said that it has no plot or story is crazy.
! I loved the scene where Supes saves a plane. It's a commonly used idea but it was done really well here. And, whoever thought up that it would land in a baseball field has a great sense of humor (nice catch!). Plus, it shows that Superman prevented a 9/11 level tradegy.
! I loved Spacey's luthor. The character was great. His plan was nice too, though it pretty much seemed like a way to get revenge on Superman then profit off of it.
! Giving Lois a son was a ballsy idea, an it worked out great. Especially the little twist that Superman's son, and having Luthor figure it out.
! And finally, Superman lifted a continent! A kryptonite continent no less. It looked really menacing as Superman was lifted it–with the Kryptonite growing out of it. And the resulting hosipital seen was great--dramatic and tense.
I saw this movie last wednesday when I was at the beach. I liked it a lot.
I just saw it and damn I loved it. I havent smiled and had a fan boy boment in the opening credits that much since Vader rose on the table.
Spacey just kicked ass. The opening shot of him inheriting money was so awsome.
And they even kept the wigs! And they kept referencing Lois' article from the first movie, as well as Lois smoking. But they totally left out the part from Superman 2 when Lois finds out who Clark is.
Routh did a great job. He was very good seperating Clark from Superman.
And for the record, the little kid was still a better actor then Hayden Christenson.
Good movie. If anyone who is familiar with the 80s Superman movies will get all the past references that is implied in this movie even when Lois and Clark had sex (Superman II).
I can't believe they used the original soundtrack and I like the cameos of the stars from the original Superman TV show starring George Reeves. They even copied the final scene from the original movie and recreated the opening credits.
The plot? Well its the same storyline as the first movie. Luthor causing destruction trying to make a land grab. Spacey played Luthor sort of like Hackman in the original but I like Brandon Routh's performance.
It was great movie, at least the first half. I didn't really like the final battle and ending…
I liked it. I was hoping for some crazy villians like a big, giant kryptonite demon or something like that, but Luther's plan will do. But think about it… What would he do to start a civilization on it, or some plumming, electricity, etc.
Also, they still have to make a Smallville episode where Clark learns the Freeze Breath.
And just another thing... sorry to be a fun spoiler:
! I like the joke on the kryptonite continent being Skypeia, but it got lifted into space… Oh well, Eneru's closer to the moon at least ^_^
! Oh, and when did Super Man and Lois get jiggy with it? Part of Superman II I'm guessing...
Brandon Routh… lol, he's from my state, but I don't want to brag. It's just funny that our state makes a big deal about it, and after people come out of the theatre they were all happy, with a big smile and chests kinda puffed up, and they're like "Yeah, he's from our state"
Though it does make me feel a little special...
Remind me again why Brian Singer is such an incredible director?
Superman disappointed me. For someone so upright, he sure likes to spy on Lois. And trying to steal her back from her fiancee was kinda low. Didn't he ever watch Cast Away? "Superman! He stands for Truth! Justice! And making sure no other man gets into Lois' pants!"
Lux Luthor was awsome though. He's probably my favorite villain in a movie ever now. x3
Speaking of which, didn't Spacey also play as Xavior in the X-Men series?
…No. That was Patrick Stewart. :wassat:

If he's too perfect, everybody says he's lame. Now he shows his human side and becoming jealous, still it's impossible to please people. He could've pulled tricks with his super powers to make them hate each other if he wanted, but he would only do that small nostalgic act to realize Lois' so out of his reach.
i'll wait a week or 2 then i'll do something illegal in order to watch it. no way i'd give one penny to hollywood.
