Yo There wasn t a thread about Vagabond inhere so I wanted to do it

Vagabond is the story of Mushashi Miyamoto , the greatest samurai ever.
Its one of my favourits , 23 volumes are out in Japan.

And if someone has more to say about it just do your thing.
And if you never heard of it I suggest you to start looking for it.

(I ll write later a little summary and stuff like that)

Seeking infinity, with all my affinities.

Finding truth, like a falling fruit, my ultimate finality.

Inside my being, the outside, all things; the finite leads the way.

He wasn't a samurai, just a swordsman. But yeah, the series really does kickass and I wish it was popular here.

I've read somewhere up to 14th or 15th volume, it's been awhile so I'm not sure, but I think I'm more interested in reading the book than dwelling into the rest of the volumes. Inoue takes his time with fights though. He is such a page waster, though not as bad as Hideo Yamamoto. I wouldn't had wanted to read the duel with the monk stick baldy dude in a weekly basis.

Yeah the book is a masterpiece
but I think the manga has something
I wanna know how inoue will start the mushashi - kodjiro vendetta
cause he really takes another path then the book
            I m curious!

Yeah, I really wanna find the book as well. Maybe I can, but am being lazy…. even now, I know that Inoue went in a totally different way. Which would get to me just a little, if Yoshikawa's book was factual.

And yeah, the guy can have a chapter full of glares.

If you mean factual = real life story
then it isn t , Yoshikawa s book is a novel
if someone wants some info on Miyamoto s life and his book "A Book of Five Rings" go to http://www.samurai.com/5rings/

(Yeah Musashi Miyamoto wrote his own books!)

I know it isn't factual. I don't count on anything to be; there's a lot of bullshit associated with martial arts/sword history. Which is why I don't mind the obvious changes Inoue made to whatever his base was.

Inoue did pick up some extremely bad habits with Vagabond with regards to pacing and time-wasting. Fortunately he hasn't allowed it to spill over into Real, his other series. And the art is some of the best you'll ever see, which I guess makes the series salvageable in the end. But I still would not want to be addicted to reading each installment weekly. It would drive me insane.

bad habits??? man… i personally call it "attention to detail". taking 10 books to talk about the story of the antagonist... that's character development at a level never seen in manga. imo it's one of the top three series that i have ever seen. you gotta look at the bigger picture. when it's all finished it'll read like a dream.

i do agree with you about real though... unfortunatly it's a book-a-year manga so the pace is even slower.

I am scanlating it (my alias is NeoShweaty). I have a diehard Inoue fan but i have to agree that the pacing is off. I mean he spends like three chapters having Musashi approach Kojiro.
