But yeah i can't wait for the anime to get up to that part where...certain people eat the fruits and get...certain powers...yeah...

The powers:
! Kaku's fruit (ushi ushi no mi, model: giraffe (bull-bull fruit, model: giraffe)) is a zoan that lets him turn into a giraffe.
Kalifa's fruit (awa awa no mi (bubble-bubble fruit)) is a paramecia that allows her to control bubbles

Episode 267 ended with exactly chapter 380, so you should start with 381. (only 35 chapters to read) And yes, Luffy has new powers like everyone else. It starts at the end of chapter 387.
Bah, spoilers suck. That's why I read the manga.
But I find it perplexing that people would actually want Usopp and Nami to have DF powers. That would be lame.
It would definitely be a direction One Piece hasn't gone before. I don't think either of them would eat one willingly, and it might freak them out. I'm not sure I'd like that. But, I have confidence in Oda, even stuff I thought I didn't like (cyborgs, etc) turns out great in One Piece.
I think Usopp and Nami have their own fighting style. Well, they aren't really fighters to begin with, so I wouldn't like Nami to start getting all powerful just like this. It would just be… weird. She's strong enough like this =p And having more devil fruit users in the crew would be troublesome if there isn't anyone left to fish them outta the water ^^'
But whatever Oda does, it will be awesome so we shouldn't worry about all this ^^
First off I wasn't aware that the manga had delt with the fruits, i thought that the SH would break up the festivities before Spandam gave them out.
My reason for Ussop was he already feels weak and would jump at the chance to get stronger. As for Nami, it was pure random.
