@taboo:
What are doujinshi, if not fanfiction with matching pictures? :)
His art is good no doubt, but really that's all. :/ He'd probably be great for tokyopop. Blah, I could write a book about how I used to like him then realized he wasn't as great as all Internetdom hails him to be, but I'd be going off topic. >__> (and his jokes aren't funny! >:O ) And no, as it stands, I really don't think he could make an impact here in America.
not to go off topic, but i feel the same way honestly. i mean, he's a great artist but…. i dunno. its all show to me.
you know who will be a freakin awesome comic artist later on...(actually, she pretty much is already) Vert
she was only 16-17 when she did Kill The City, and she thinks its crap now (she randomly gave me the first issue when i saw it at her house, lol!) There is so much Oda and Mignola influence in her style, I love it.
I swear her and her sister (who is now an Art Director dies) are just so freakin talented and they are some of the sweetest people I know.
Oh and Mr. Zoro, I agree with Carly and Taboo, since I was gonna post saying sorta the same thing, they said it a lot better than I could.
I can't stress enough how important drawing from life is. Drawing classes are probably the most helpful ones I took at the Art Institute. and for the record… if you're wanting to do comics, or manga much less... DO NOT go to the Art Institute. They will hammer it out of you, most of the animation and graphic design department frown on anime/manga. There was a huge debate over it a few years back.... I'll dig it up someday...
