Well, seeing how theres still no single topic for random OP questions I'll just follow everyone else and make a thread asking one of the questions I got.
How how the color spreads for One Piece colored? The coloring seems quite different. Is it on the computer or ontop of a desk? If its on the computer does anyone know the techinque? If its done by hand what coloring material is used?
Also, is Oda the one who colors them or does an assistant color them with him discribing the colors?
I don't know how or who colores them. But I do know that if it is on a ccomputer you get a program like photoshop or gimp and color with the paintbrush, smudge etc.

use dodge and burn tools for basic shadows and highlights.
As for Oda's colorspreads, I think he uses tempras and watercolors. Or maybe COPIC pens.
I don't even know what "tempras" are. XD
Oda uses copic markers. He has so many! And I think he does them all by himself. No assistants

well the color walks have to be drawn by hand, since the amount of detail that they have. I'm not saing that a computer drawning application couldn't be used at all, but just with the same detail, it would be easier to color by hand.
I can't say for certain, but the color spreads LOOK like either watercolor or guache or possibly acrylics. I never use any of those kinds of media…. 
Edit: But ghoti seems pretty confident that they're markers. Did you read that somewhere ghoti?
Some of those markers do have a watercolor look. I've neve rused those either.
My method of coloring in Photoshop is totally different from that tutorial. And I never use the burn and dodge.
yeah, Oda does use markers. well, i can see he uses a mixture of medias, including watercolors, and probably guache like Cosmic said.
and as far as painting in photoshop…. i try to stay away from dodge and burn >.< its just sorta cheap to me.... i just mess with the brush settings and opacity and of course as many layers as it takes. i'm no pro, but i can show people how to do painting/drawing in photoshop ^^
but yeah... I always sit there and study how Oda colors his work, its just so... beautifully rendered, especially his recent stuff. I love how much more gritty it looks compared to his sorta cleaner look that he had in the beginning. If only I could be as awesome with traditional media....

burn and dodge tools aren't very effective when it comes to different settings… as far as my knowledge with them goes... I believe that the dodge tool makes the colors very pinkish while the burn tool makes them... brown to orangish. If for instance, what you're coloring is set during the night, i highly doubt the shadows for the characters you colour are going to be tanned brown.
I usually barely use much settings when i color... i just find the colors my self, keep a palette and just slap on more color =p unfortunately that doesnt give you the effect Oda's markers make 
Though i know its completely possible on photoshop, i've seen people who can color like gods.
It's really kind of a quick way to give drawings depth. It doesn't always look good, but it really depends on the setting of the dodge/burn tool and the color it's being used on. Like, redder skin tones burn much easier than ones with more yellow, and the burn will look different on the colors. It also tends to work better on midtones setting. I've found it to be good for coloring lineart and the like (although, traditional media often looks much cooler)

its detailed and interesting, yet cartoony so it looks unique and not boring.
His style has always been my favorite even before i ever liked/heard about one piece ^^ i always download a lot of art books and sit and stare at the ones i like the most

i know Oda started out using copic markers, but im not sure what he uses now. im sure a computer is involved in at least some way.

Wow….they look like one big happy family...wish I was about of it.
I swear – ever since I first saw a photo of Nakai Kazuya all bubbly and smiling and goofy I just could not believe it was the same guy who played Zoro at all. (I think the one I saw was a Jump Festa thing ? He dressed up as a garbageman while everyone else was in formal wear, lol)
But yeah, as has been quite proven, Oda uses markers and maybe a waterbrush (not total watercolors, just a wet brush) for his colorspreads. It's the way I color my own stuff too, though I don't have nearly that many markers at my disposal 
Pretty positive Oda uses markers and watercolors. From what I've seen most Mangaka use watercolors for coloring. Some use other mediums but it seems like watercolor is the most common. They almost never use comp programs.
And I'm pretty positive his assistants help alot with the color spreads. Most likely Oda just draws and inks, then lets them take over after he's dictated how he want everything to look. People underplay the role of the asistants in making manga because they aren't the 'author' of the book but in many cases they do half the work, sometimes more artwise. It's hard enough to write a comic with such crazy schedule, so many mangaka just do the writing, and draw and ink the main character, then leave everything else to their assistants. I know this is how Musashi Kishimoto does things.
Well, now I know what he colors with, now its just the question is how you do it right.
honestly, that's something you'd have to play around with yourself, everyone does it differently. however, if you can find the right books, there are some decent how to draw manga books that teach you how to color with markers… the name escapes me right now, but i'm sure someone will know...

i have a lot of markers too, they cost a lot around 6 us dollars each. i'm addicted to buying them! i know that brand. my friend has a lot of them... wish i could remember DX...
but you get brilliant colors! textures are hard tho
markers are amazing! now that i know Oda uses it, i'm gonna buy more >:D
Well, I was half right, he uses COPICs. I know someone in who works for the company, so I trade older manga and issues of Superman for a few every now and then. Now I know I should get some more.
