Chapter 414 "Sanji vs Jabura" Discussion

OK, I sort of came to this realization in the spoiler thread (I read it after I've read the chapter to hear the weird stuff people speculate before the chapter comes out), but I guess it just came to me due to some silly comment comeone made:

With everyone's speculations regarding Jabura being a Tao Te Pie tribute at the beginning of this arc…and his subsequent wolf fruit and his attacks this chapter...is it just me or is Oda doing a double tribute both to Tao and Yamcha? (who had his "Wolf Fang Fist" long ago at the start of DB)

Usopp knows something about Jyubura….....

Cause he was yelling out that he knows now and then Jyubura commented on how he should have killed those two already, so I'm thinking there's a trick to Jyubura's attacks or he has a weakness.

But man overall this chapter was great cause it showcased both of my favorite characters and their awesomeness!!! And I really hope Sanji busts out his steel-breaking kick just to shut Jyubura up even though he's my favorite CP9 as of now.

I think his exclamation meant that he finally realized what his role among the SH is. Think back when he left them, he thought that they didn't need him, as he is neither strong nor smart nor has any special qualities like being a navigator or doctor, that he was only along for the ride so to speak.

Just a off topic question, do you think the Enies Lobby arc/CP9 fights could be over before we reach August?

I hope he does take care of the Buster Call. After all it'd fit with Sanji's speech about what one can and can't do. So if Usopp can't fight one on one, then let him show what he can do as a gunner.

And honestly, a Usopp/Funkfried fight would make me stab my eyes with a rusty screwdriver out of frustration.

Again, people are thinking that Usopp can handle 10 gigantic warships. Just because he has long-range weapons and sharpshooting skills doesn't mean he is capable of taking those down. I don't think a single Firebird Star or Sunflower Star is enough take one either. You're exaggerating him too much.

This chapter was muy awesomeo. It covered alot in 18 pages. The Buster Call situation, Zanbai and Paulie and company, Franky chasing after Robin, Usopp…drooling. Great overall!!

I think that Ussop's Kabuto weapon could take out one buster call warship, but not all of them. A fireball is a effective weapon but the farther a fireball travels, the smalled the flame becomes since of air friction.

If Sanji's fight ain't finished, next up could be Zoro vs. Kaku (Zoro always has the last dibs before the main event). Though like some people said before, a two-page spread of both Sanji and Zoro landing the finishing blow at the same time would prove to be pretty cool.

Well yeah, except for hurling a non-tekkai user several meters through the air and into concrete walls, they don't do much. But to me, the Wolf Bite (2nd hit) looks very painful, and I can clearly see some blood. Just because Sanji doesn't shout "Argh It hurts!" it doesn't mean People should underestimate Jabs.

If Usopp is able to take them down, that makes him even more terrifying than the Buster Call, and that means he can take down an entire island by himself too! Even if he is strong, that is just way too much.

While people on Arlong-Park love to overestimate Usopp as standard, it can't be denied that the strength and impact of a BusterCall has been more than well blown out of proportion, mainly due to the fact that there is only one survior and she was 8 when she witnessed it. when i was a baby i witnessed somethings i thought were terrifying and as i've got older i'd dealth with them because they're a commonality of life.

Remember a Buster Call is simple a few marine ships and if you were to diable them ships, you'd effectively stop a buster call. To say that can't be done is ludicrous. the question however does remain over whether or not Usopp has the ability to do that. i feel without a doubt he can slow it down, stopping it is another thing all together, right now, what they require is that none of the vice admirals board Enies Lobby until they're able to all act independantly as a unit (basically until Robin's cuff's come off). That isn't a lot to ask.

Wow, this is easily the best fight in Enies Lobby so far, and the impression is that's only the beggining. Let's see what Sanji can pull to break this moving wall of Tekkai and badassery.

Sanji is kinda losing to Jabs but anything can happen now.
Lucci IS bleeding, he has a darker strain of blood below his lower lip. In Luffy I found only durt-like bruises.

I think that's a huge assumption, from what i can read of the chapter, Sanji's doing a Kenshiro "you're already dead" type thing.

Where exactly is Luffy bleeding. As far as I can see, both Lucci and Luffy only have bruises except for the blood on Lucci's chin.

And I successfully avoided the Spoiler chapter this time. I hate that thing.

Well, just like I said last week, Usopp has to do something that only he can do. Nice to see Sanji reiterate that in the chapter. It's nice to see that Usopp is really Usopp again.:happy: And I always enjoy Usopp and Nami doing things together. >D

The rest of the chapter was kind of like a recap, not much happened. So far Sanji v. Jyabura is like deja vu. I hope Sanji pulls out some new techniques. I guess he really has to.

Pretty decent chapter this week. Even though Jyabura seems to have the upper hand it's only a matter of time before Sanji beats him down, especially if Nami leaves the area so he stops acting goofy. I hope Jyabura has some more bells and whistles to his Rokushiki beyond his moving tekkai, because he's awesome and needs ample exposure. You don't reveal your trump card right off the bat, do you? Let's hope not.

I'm skeptical that Usopp's realization will end up with him on top of the crumbling Judicial Tower blowing up Buster Call warships. I don't think there's going to be much of a tower left after Sanji and Zoro's fights. I also don't think Usopp is going to end up fighting Spandam especially when both Luffy, though occupied with Lucci, and Franky are much closer.

Also it seems people have neglected everyone's favorite navigator from the equation. Now, I don't think any one of us knows the full scope of abilities that the Perfect Clima Tact has, but perhaps Nami might have some ideas of her own on how to delay the Buster Call. Perhaps she create a large enough fog to envelop the island. And that's my ridiculous speculation quota for the day.

I just thought of something, since the Buster Call doesn't stop for anyone or anything after being initiated, do you think Spandam and Robin will make it to the Gate before the Navy begins shooting?

On another note, what would fog do against the Buster Call, Ruwyn. They know where the island is, so they would just shoot

You're thinking too limitedly. I'm certain Kabuto has more than just fireballs in it's arsenal. For example, I can imagine Kabuto being slightly modified with impact dials that give projectiles an extra 'push' as they're fired, resulting in a projectile that travels much farther and faster than it would have without the push. And a faster traveling projectile has more momentum, and thus more 'explosive' power than a slower traveling projectile. Imagine 5 or 6 impact dials, arranged around Kabuto's ring giving push to a projectile the size of a baseball. Imagine the 'explosive' power created from such a projectile. It would be like attacking with the cannon of an M1A1 Abrams tank x 10 I imagine. The only problem I could perceive with such a weapon would be the 'kickback' produced from it. So it'll probably require that Kabuto first be planted before using impact dials to help fire projectiles.

We're not talking about wiping out entire islands here, we're talking about wiping out ships. And the WG has probably never encountered anything like dials before. The dials, I'm sure, if used in creative/imaginative ways, could prove to be incredibly destructive, far more destructive than any weapon the Gov't may have in their posession.

Ussop's revelation has now wiped away any doubt I had about him, and I'm only looking forward to what he's going to do next. I'm thinking it has to do with the Buster Call, because nothing else (not even fighting Spandam) would become a landmark moment for him after all that has happened.

This is perhaps Sanji's first fight since his debut where there are no gimmicks, only ass-kicking left and right. I can't wait to see what other tricks Jyabura has up his sleeve before Sanji takes him out. His line on Robin being his sister was hilarious.

And as for the Luffy v. Lucchi fight - Luffy looks like he's the only one bleeding from the side of his mouth. There's no blood coming from Lucchi - the black mark under his lip is his goatee.

Hmm thinking about it now, Nami and Usopp are now going to run into the tunnel and follow cute little Chimney's arrows. Which leaves only Sanji/Zoro/Kaku and Jabs in the tower. That thing is so going to fall now xD

Oh and Jabs and Kaku would probably be beaten at roughly the same time. Cos that would leave Sanji free to guide Zoro to Robin cos he sure aint getting there by himself.

yeah, although jyabura seems to have the upper hand (damn tekkai), i think sanji is going to pull out his strongest move ever the next chapter. Was concasse his best move? i remember it nearly broke blueno's tekkai, but it seems like sanji has gotten stronger since the puffing tom incident.
hopefully they'll show more of the luffy/lucci fight next chapter though. i want to see luffy in gear second again, or even do gomu gomu no storm (although that would be kinda repetitive).

Get the MQ scan and look in between the dot and dirt. It's definitely a somewhat different shade.

And I say he may not. I doubted it, I never said anything definitive, and I would never have been shocked either way.

and this was an awesome chapter, like always. Sanji defintaley out-classes him in speed. But Wolf-man has an advantage right now because of his tekkai. But neither seem to be going all out yet.**
