I see no reason for this. Stop the remakes, stop the sequals…... give us something new Hollywood.
Battle Royale…. US remake?

Hell just froze over and pigs learned to fly.
Seriously.
For the two of you who don't know what this film/novel/manga is, might I suggest some reading material.
-
I remember there was something A LOT like Battle Royale called Series 7 or something, it pwned lol
-
Well… that could be interesting.
I wasn't incredibly fond of the movie (I prefer the manga), but regardless I'd like seeing how it might get adapted. I think it'll have a high chance of turning out worse than it will better though, unfortunately.

New things are too scary…
-
I'm surprised it's not a FOX reality show
-
Hey Holywood is trying with new movies…
Snakes on the Plane anyone?
-
Can it really be worse than Garfield 2?
-
I never seen/read Battle Royal, heard of it but had no idea it was THIS! (was reffereing to this after reading thegrandline page). It can't be any gorey than gantz. I might read the manga sometime in the future.
But for christ sake. This movie was made in 2000, only 6 years ago, they already up for a remake? And something just don't feel right about turning a japanese movie into a american one…but that seems to be a new thing hollywood is trying lately.
-
I know what a new generation of movies could be, like making a reality movie about iraq war which includes real soldiers got killed
but then the rating will be too high
lol -
Neal Moritz (who's dropped some major stinkers like STEALTH, XXX2 and TORQUE on us lately) and Roy Lee (THE RING) will produce for New Line
I gave up reading after that.

Produce, not Direct. Produce means nothing. Produce means you drum up support and attach people to the project. Steven Spielburg Produced Memoirs of a Geisha and that meant he spent a few days on the set shaking hands.
Whether you liked those films or not, you can agree that there was plenty of hype surrounding them and that's what a Producer needs to create.
Whether the film is any good or not is a completely different story.
-
Depending on the picture, and the producer's interest in it, their jobs can span from simply financing the film it to coordination, supervision and the control over all aspects of the motion-picture production process, including creative, financial, technological and administrative. They can do many things, beyond shake hands.
Many of their powers include (and are certainly not limited to) : hiring the writer for the original screeplay and signing the major actors. Two qualities that can make or break a film. Yes, I can't tell you the role of Moritz and Lee in this film, but if their resume is any indication of their future work, then I'll pass.Yes the films that Moritz and Lee have worked on were certainly hyped, but lets face it, a large portion of it was criticism and laughter.

Except actually make the movie. In the end, having a shitty producer means as much as having an awesome producer. Again, Memoirs of a Geisha.
It's who makes it and how they make it.
