If you're buying a Next-Gen console, how many of you are getting the Wii, the PS3, or buy the Wii first then when the PS3 price drops, going to buy PS3?
One Question
-
-
don't we have a topic like this already?
-
I'm getting everything except an XBox unless there's a major license-shift involving Capcom or Square-Enix. I have no preference of order.
-
I'm not interested in PS3 and will get a Wii and a Xbox360. Only thing that would make me buy a PS3 and skip the 360 is a PS3 exclusivity for the Silent Hill series, but I doubt it'll happen.
-
I'll probably only get the Wii, because it is the cheapest. SIMPLE!
-
I'm really not interested much at all in the 360 (although I do wish that Perfect Dark Zero was on the Wii instead of 360) or the PS3; I am and always will be a dedicated Nintendo fanboy. Wii for the win.
-
I'm getting both PS3 and the Wii, probably get Wii first tho due to the price of the PS3. My brother got a 360 and he hates it so.
-
I don't think there will be / is anything MS can do to get me to buy an FPS producing monster known as an XBOX (except for maybe dropping on my enemies from high heights to crush them)
I think its time for a WIIVOLUTION
-
Am I the only one here who wants a 360? Of course I want a Wii first though. And I don't REALLY want a 360, the only reason i want it is for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. As of right now though i have no reason to buy a PS3.
-
The 360 seems to be a very good choice. It has Oblivion already, which is a must have, and there's a lot of games who seem extremely promising, like Lost Planet, RE5, Viva Pinata, Halo 3, GTA4 and a shitload of amazing fps.
Now, PS3 has MGS4 and FFXIII. And that's about it. Not enough for me to throw 600 euros through the window, sorry.

So…you're comparing a system's lineup that's been out for half a year...to a system that won't even be out for another half a year? Not to mention the titles you mentioned for PS3 are 'killer aps' which pretty much everyone in the gaming community anticipates for one reason or another. We haven't a clue as to what underdog titles might be released yet.
While I can certainly understand not rushing out to buy a PS3 because it appears to have a weak launch line-up (much like PS2 did unless you consider the original Midnight Club an amazing title) or even because of not liking those titles, because they only have currently highlighted two killer aps isn't a reason to completely shrug off the system.
It'd be like wanting to have an abortion because you think your baby might have blue eyes when you wanted hazel.

I have limited financial capacities and don't feel like waiting one year like I did with PS2 to play a couple of decent games. Are those good enough reasons for you?
Besides, yes, I think having only two killer aps, one of them I have no interest in, is a good enough reason to "completely shrug off the system". I don't see where's the problem, even the Wii has more exclusivities announced.
-
I'm getting the Wii and it'll be the only next gen console I'll own for the next several years. I didn't get a PS2 until 2004 and getting a PS3 is impossible at the moment.
-
A Wii first (very solid launch titles + low price point + wiimote = looking good). That is if I'm buying one. Then maybe much later on perhaps a PS3 or a X360. I don't know. But for very first this summer I'm getting rid off my Cube though and I buy a PS2. For Guitar Hero, and for few others.

So you're not going to buy the system ever because of it's launch price and lack of titles you're interested in that it's focusing on a half year before it is released?

Well, that's what I said actually. I agree that if you have no interest in any of the games then buying a system is pointless. But uh…the PS3 won't be released for half a year. And uh, as far as I can recall, Kingdom Hearts, Clock Tower 3, Katamari Damacy, Disgaea, Xenosaga, .hack, God of War, Devil May Cry, etc. weren't even mentioned/conceived/developed until months, and in some cases years, after the system was released. You may not even like some or any of those games, but to claim you absolutely will not buy a system because you don't like the launch titles or titles that will be released months after the system's debut….
Well, if you can't say anything nice...
I mean I wouldn't even rule out a 360. Blue Dragon looks pretty interesting and that may sway me sometime down the road.
-
So you're not going to buy the system ever because of it's launch price and lack of titles you're interested in that it's focusing on a half year before it is released?
Yeah. For ex I never bought a Xbox this gen. I feel like changing and trying a more "occidentalised" (not sure if that's even a word) type of gaming for next gen, now of course if I'm not satisfied with the 360 and its games I could still sale it and go for the PS3 after a while, but I doubt it'll happen. Of all the franchises you mentionned, there's maybe two games I'll miss if they'r not released on 360. You make it sound like it is unimaginable for someone not to own all three systems. Weird.
On a side note, I'm no Sony hater or any crap like that.
-

nicely said. nicely said…
-
Right now I only want a Wii. I might get a PS3 later, but right now I don't think I'll have the money for it.
-
Viva La Wiivolution!
-
Yeah.
Wow. Weird.
You make it sound like it is unimaginable for someone not to own all three systems. Weird.
Erm, does that mean I think my own actions are unimaginable? I mean, I don't own an XBox and I currently don't intend to purchase a 360 but that could easily change.
Furthermore, where did I state such a thing?
What I would contend is that giving up on a system that hasn't been released and you only know about a handful of games of is indeed 'unimaginable'.
Of all the franchises you mentionned, there's maybe two games I'll miss if they'r not released on 360.
You missed my point entirely.
It doesn't matter if you like those games or not and it doesn't matter if they'll continue on the PS3.
The point is:
There are countless games which haven't even been conceived of yet that could rock seriously and you're giving up on a system and decided not to purchase it before it even hits the light of day because of of two popular titles you don't like that it happens to be showcasing at the moment.
I can't even think about approaching video games that way.
It's like me telling myself I'd hate Final Fantasy 6 in 1989.
-
Ok this is starting to get seriously annoying.
There are countless games which haven't even been conceived of yet that could rock seriously
That's speculation, and that looks like fanboyism to me. Now, I see a system with actual games I'm interested in, is less expensive, and is available now. Why the hell woud I wait to buy a PS3 based on the assumption that maybe, one day, there's some cool games exclusive to the system that will be developped for it, while there's actual games I want to play now, and the same probability that great games not yet announced will be released on Xbox360? What the hell is that kind of logic?
I'll break it down for you:
-Xbox360: actual games I'm interested in, less expensive, a different type of games + the possibility that other awesome games will be developped for it in the future.
-PS3: no games announced yet I'm interested in, + the possibility that other awesome games will be developped for it in the future.
Now, if this is what's bothering you so much, I never said "OMG I'll never buy a PS3 Sony is teh evil lololol", I stated in my previous post in a part that you conveniently ignored that I could perfectly sale my 360 and buy a PS3 if I wasn't satisfied with 360 games and wanted to play some PS3 exclusives, which is not the case at all now, nor does it seem it'll be the case in the near future.
Get it? Now be nice and let it drop, this is getting tired.
-
That's speculation, and that looks like fanboyism to me.
I can't think of any system that has ever been released that hasn't had awesome games. Even games that personally haven't hit my button I can totally see and appreciate why people like them. There's no speculation in that, it's a fact. Any major player in the game industry who is releasing a follow-up to an established home console will have games that kick ass.
By this definition of course I negate experimental systems and ventures. Take PSP for example or Virtual Boy or 3DO.
And fanboyism? Please. What exactly is fanboyish about respecting every system, seeing the value in what they offer and wanting to wait to see everything they have to offer? That's not fanboyism, that's being a smart consumer. Unlike say, rejecting a system because you aren't interested in the handful of titles that have been revealed before its release.
That I just can't understand.
Now, if this is what's bothering you so much, I never said "OMG I'll never buy a PS3 Sony is teh evil lololol"
Hmmm, I checked my posts and I did not find any point where I accused you of saying such things. I'm just responding to what you posted initially which was that you'll won't buy a PS3, unless it has exclusive rights for a given title. When I probed for the reasoning you elaborated by saying you're not interested in two of the titles currently being showcased. I questioned how you can assume that there would be no other games in the 5+ year life-cycle of the PS3 that have the chance of coming around (outside title exclusivity) which might possibly be incredible games that by chance capture your interest. You shot back by calling my actions fanboyish and speculation even as sure as time marches on, bitchin' games will be released on all major systems as defined above.
Furthermore, if we followed your logic of calling such thoughts speculation, then it may just as well be said to be pure speculation that enjoyable games wouldn't come out. I provided an example of convincing myself not to buy SNES because I didn't like the hyped titles as launch whereas doing so would have taken away my chance of playing quite possibly the greatest game ever created [/opinion].
In summary, saying you "will not buy XYZ", as you did in your original post, because of what's directly in front of you as an incomplete picture is just not right. It's simply not an educated choice and certainly more than anything I've ever said, stinks of fanboy. Not that you are, but sticking your nose up in the air about something we know little about is far too pompous a take on the situation.
I know for a fact 360 has some wicked games in the works, I'm just waiting to see what the end up as. But I won't be rushing out to get it soon unless there's a license-shift as I mentioned. Other than that I will prolly wait for the next gen of XBox to come along if there's backwards compatibility. At that point all the games I know I'll want to play on 360 and always wanted to play on Xbox will be right there. But anything could happen.
All systems rock hard and will continue to. I'm always open to what they may offer and honestly, it is my greatest hope that they do give me a reason to purchase them somewhere along the line.
I personally won't be buying any new system at launch. I'm going to wait till' the prices come down a notch, the Special Editions or Collector's Series of games start coming out, and they come in multiple colors ^O^
As far as what has an awesome launch set that DOES now officially make we want to buy it on launch day would be Wii. The launch is just too strong now. Zelda and Metroid are a deadly combo. But, I'll be waiting to shed the bucks till' later.

Three and a half Words
Gamecube & PS2.
Whatever console I buy will depend on the amount of money I have left
once I'm done buying a few things before summer ends. -
I plan on getting all three consoles eventually. The first one to acquire will be the Xbox 360, hopefully around the time when Dead Rising comes out because that looks fantastic, along with getting Oblivion, Condemned, Full Auto, Call of Duty 2 before checking out what the companies are releasing onto the Xbox that weren't hyped up on E3.
Then comes the Wii, but I really hope there are more games that grab my attention other than Super Smash Brothers, Twilight Princess and Trauma Center. But then again, alot of stuff get unnoticed over the big games. Who is to say?
Lastly is the PS3. The same thing with the Wii applies here. So far, all I saw or heard that was interesting was MGS4, Assassin's Creed, and Silent Hill 5.
All I hear nowadays is how the Wii is going to be the greatest thing ever and Sony are a bunch of devils with the occasional jab at Microsoft for just breathing. Whatever happened to the philisophy of "I go where the games are"?

Fair, Balanced, & Admirable (the statement)

get it for the PC.
Won't work so well for me. First off, my computer is full enough as it is so oblivion probably wouldn't fit. Second, my computer table is like 2 feet high at most so I sit on my knees to use the computer. Also, Oblivion is no doubt longer then Morrowind and well heres my marrowind.
Normal file - 107 hrs. I haven't beat it yet. (gave up)
file that killed the whole world - I don't feel like checking i know its 30+ hours.so, add a good deal of time and then imagine my knees.
Anyway, I think the main reason people are hating all over the PS3 is because of the price. And as far as my knowledge goes people have been picking at the XBOX since the first one was released. The PS3 however, I feel it should not be discarded so quickly. Look back at the history of games. IMO, the Playstation has released the greatest number of awesome games.
