So did anyone else notice that the sunflower star was 5 bullets or am I just stating the obvious… anyway I think the referance would be much closer to the Grimm Fairytale of Little Red Cap (very close to Little Red Riding Hood but anyway both MY idea :ninja:). Funny thing about that story, Little Red Cap strays off into the woods. Then when she arrives at her destination she is confronted by a wolf. The wolf eats her and a Huntsman comes along and saves her. After he cuts her out of the Wolfs belly Little Red Cap realizes she was wrong and she says she will never stray off the path again. I think in the same way Ussop will realize he was wrong for leaving the crew and realize how much he needs his Nakama. But later on he will do something so great that he will realize that also his Nakama need him.
-
Well, it turned out just as depressing as the spoiler thread predicted. However, seeing Usopp getting the crap ..poked… out of him does make me excited for future chapters. (Damn, he is bleeding like a faucet there...)

the downloady link doesn't werk no moes. ><;

^^ Sorry, I deleted the LQ, to make way for this:
-
I'm becoming curious about Funkfried now. He looks pretty deadly. And I still can't tell or beleive, did he just knock Robin through some concrete?
-
Wow. Just… wow.
Jyabs = the greatest Big Bad Wolf in recorded history of mankind.
F*cking awesome all the way, damn! -
@Battle:
^^ Sorry, I deleted the LQ, to make way for this:
We can forgive you.
-
FINALLY that damn cover story is over. I'm relieved.
QFT
I don't know why more people aren't ecstatic over the conclusion of this anticlimatic mini-arc. The possibilities for what COULD come next are just way too awesome.
-
I have to say it again. Those assumptions are just plain wrong. In every serious Zoro and Sanji fight so far they got pwned and layed bloody on the floor. And that's SogeKings moment to step in and fight both Kaku and Jabura alone, while the others get back up. And then the real fight starts with a lot of nice combo attacks. You're all still underestimating the complexity and awesomeness of this fight. This is One Piece and not DBZ/Pokemon/Bleach. I try to explain that for over a month now.
EDIT and the more Usopp gets pwned, the more furious he becomes, as usual. For Zoro, the only time I remember this happening was in Arabasta when he fought against Mr. 1, but in Skypiea, I don't recall him getting pwned and laying bloody on the floor
For Sanji, he confronted Mr. 2 b/c he went to get Usopp's goggles back for him, and the fight ended w/ Sanji walking away… in Skypiea, he didn't really get a 1:1 fight.
Great Chapter!!!! i'm really glad to see Usopp trying to hold his ground, a little disappointed, i was hoping he'd hold out a little longer than he did, and damn..... Jabura was really rubbing it in on Usopp, he was hitting all the sensitive spots with his comments to Usopp. I think Oda is trying to show us how strong usopp's will is, and build up that once he finds his ground, he'll be truely unbreakable.

And I'm pretty sure I've seen other people try to explain to you why this CAN NOT. Why this literally physically can not actually happen. And its a very simple reason.
Zoros single reason to be on the crew is to pursue his dream. His dream is to be the worlds best/strongest swordsman. If he ever needs help fighting another sword wielding opponent, doesn't matter who, doesn't matter where, doesn't matter why, he loses the right to that title for ever basically.
I mean if he needs help to beat Kaku, and then goes and beats Mihawk, that makes Kaku the greatest in the world by default.
And yea, realistically he could just fight him again. But this isn't a realistic piece of art, its shonen manga, and having them fight again will be boring and pointless.
Zoro WILL beat Kaku, and he WILL do it alone.
Some people are also pointing out that maybe Sogeking will stop and help Luffy fight Lucchi, and this can't happen for much the same reason.
Arlong brought on this subject, but the only reason Luffy is captain of the Strawhats, the only reason he can be Captain is that he's the strongest, and he takes down the enemies no one else can. If he needs help against an enemy, why should he stay captain? Whats he bringing to the crew that someone else couldn't?
Yea, its not like the crew would mutiny even if he did need help, but its a shonen manga, so the situation isn't going to be tested regardless. Luffy is captain because he can beat people like Lucchi, therefor he WILL beat Lucchi.
Not to mention he already promised to send him flying with a kick, more proof if its needed. And to be honest, I see no reason why anyone would doubt Gear 2 Luffy's strength. I honestly can't see him having even as much difficulty as he did with Crocodile.
The way I see it is like this:
Gear 1 Luffy - Alvida - Arlong = Gear 2/3 Luffy - Blueno - Lucchi.
If that makes sense.
So yea, basically, Sogeking nor Franky nor anyone else will help either of them. Full stop. End of argument. Case closed. Etc.
Sanji there is some possiblity I suppose, but I doubt it myself. There just isn't some overarching reason why it can't happen like for Luffy and Zoro.
EDIT: As for your theory Sogeking will take them both on ALONE
Yea, just not going to happen. He couldn't manage one of them alone, nevermind both, because the space is to confined. He doesn't have the room he needs to get space to do his thing. He is good at running away and using the distance to his advantage, but the room is to small, and they're to mobile for it to be possible for him.
He can't really lay traps either, as not only does he not have the time, his opponent is to familiar with the room. Its HIS after all. He'll notice any traps.
And people keep bringing up the Luffy fight as proof he is so awesome, and how great he'll be using dials and Kabuto and such and such. Why? Usopp said it himself, he only did so well because he knew Luffy so well. He knew how he fought, he knew how he acted, how he reacted, how he though. Everything.
He knows nothing about Jabura or Kaku. So he can't really anticipate them.
This isn't to say he couldn't beat someone like Jabura mind you. I'm not trying to knock Usopp completely. He just needs at the very least a lot more room than he'd have in the current situation for it to be possible. Or a lot more time and knowledge.
And he'll never be able to take them both on at once.
Ever.
EVER!
EDIT and the more Usopp gets pwned, the more furious he becomes, as usual.
That doesn't sound like Usopp to me at all. Its not being beat down or anything that makes him deadlier, its having his friends dreams be mocked or something similiar.
Personally, I think Sogeking will end up fighting Spandam + Funkfried. A combo that is as powerful as, if not moreso than Ohm. This is a Zoro level opponent we're talking about here people!
And people are dismissing him as a pussy, and a meaningless, useless fight for anyone.
Think about it, compare their weapons. Yea, Spandam doesn't have Ohm's batshit crazy philosophy, or his mantra, instead he has his OWN batshit crazy philosophy, and a SENTIENT weapon, which is nearly as good as mantra, and is made up for by the fact it can probably peform moves like Shigan and Rankyaku.
And thats assuming its his only weapon. Who says he doesn't have a few more crazy suprises in store for our erstwhile hero?
Would anyone complain if Sogeking took down Ohm? One of Zoro's opponents, I mean they were going crazy over him getting one of Sanji's perceived calibur not so long ago!
Yea, I didn't take Spandam seriously till today myself, but looking at what he can do, I can't see Franky beating him because I don't think he has enough cola left, so I think it will be up to Usopp to beat him, while Franky tries to unlock Robin.
THEN the two of them will get in a few hits on the already defeated Spandam for good measure.
Anyway, now that all thats out of the way, time to move on to what personally interests me, and thats Nami and Franky's plans. Franky tells Gonbi that he wants her and Kokoro to do something, then follow them to the Gate of Justice. Just what is this something, and just how are they going to go past the Gate of Justice when the time comes? How will they cross the area of sea behind it? And just how will they collect their gear from Water 7 and pick up their new ship.
Is the speculation that Gear 3 Luffy will break the Gate of Justice on his own now actually possible?
THE MIND BOGGLES!
Those are the best part of this chapter to me. Even more so than seeing badass Sanji, or Nose Shigan, or any of that. I can't wait to find out the answers
-
Great chapter :D! Aw, man you gotta love that final page. Sanji looks total kick-ass :D… And I'm really beginning to wonder what is really on the other side of the gates now... I mean, if its the place where criminals are taken, shouldn't it be something like a huge prison, and then I mean huge prison (its got huge gates :P)? :P
-
Booyah, thanks for the HQ BF. :D
About the cover story…so Croc, Mr. 1, 2, and 3 are all jailed while everyone else is free? Bon seems oddly happy...and so does Crocodile, for that matter.
PS - those of you asking for a translation, did you try reading the first post of the thread? :P
PPS - Nami wub Usopp so much
-
Man, Spandam looks kind of cool with Funkfried.
-
Kakaliaha: You are SO right with that reference. Oda loves to allude to other stories with his work and now that you brought that up, it just fits WAY too well with how things are going.
And I agree with It's A Lion. If Spandam gets to Impel with Robin, they are SO running into Croc and the gang. It's gonna be awesome.
-
ok so there were five keys
one of then belonged to the zoro/sogeking cuffs
so what cuffs do the other keys belong to?i seriously doubt that spandamn would give any of the the real key(the coward)
so what cuffs do those keys belong to??
take a look at the first page of chapter 413
and if they so happen to unlock those cuffs…all hell is gonna break loose.
then sogking is gonna get bon clay to look like him and confuse any one who thought he was usopp
-
OOH! good theory! never thought of that.
-
There are five keys for (probably) five cuffs. One of the cuffs is on Robin, another was on Zoro/Usopp. There were more cuffs hanging on the wall where Usopp got the ones he threw.
-
do you honestly think that spandabastard gave the cp9 workers the real key?- spandaman probly has it with him
and if all the cp9 have keys then lucci probly has one too
-
How's that? Because he's victimising a cuffed woman using a giant elephant/larva/sword thing?
Spandam is a lot of things, but a badass he is not.
Spandam having a named attack at all is badass in itself
And how were you expecting the Ele-sword form to look? Funkfried has an elephant-sword head, fleshy elephant blade, and a sword handle. I'm satisfied.
Perhaps it is thus that Sapndam quickly has him change back and forth between transformations, so he didn't get to complete it.And Greg, you're not alone on the mini-story; Though I don't feel it was too long- when you consider the amount of characters it revolved around. Still, can't wait for the next one (C'mooooon FOXY!)
-
Interesting. So for the third fight this arc, a Mugiwara is unable to fight/is overwhelmed by the opponent and requires assistance.
Kaku's nose shigan…XD
Jyabura is hilarious. Can't wait to see him and Sanji fight.
-
No surpirse that Mr. 2 looks happy. He's just looking forward to dropping the soap.
-
dropping the soap?
what the hell does that mean?!!!!
-
Prison mates are deprived sexually and in an environment with all men. Because prison isn't a luxury hotel, all of the inamtes must shower together. When a person drops the soap, they must bend over in order to pick in up. While bebding over, they're vulnerable to an attack from behind. Thus dropping the soap is a euphenism for being violently sodomized.
-
…But I guess he knew that.
Spandam just got cooler. Let's see if his attack actually works on somone who's not handcuffed. -
@The:
And how were you expecting the Ele-sword form to look?
I don't know, something that doesn't look like the stuff Fear Factor contestants would eat.
-
Its not confirmed if Franky has the right key to Robin's handcuffs yet, it still may be Usopp that delivers the right key to Robin at the right moment.
-
I don't know, something that doesn't look like the stuff Fear Factor contestants would eat.
Are you ever happy?
Why do you even bother reading One Piece?
If you want some watered-down manga that panders to whatever you want, go read Pokemon or Yu-gi-oh or something. -
I think Jyabura is one of the best manga martial artist characters ever.
He was too much in the backround in comparison with the other CP9ers, so I really want to see him kickin some ass before gettin some (by Sanji, most probably). The head kick was marvelous!
-
I just want to mention this. Rob Lucci, to me, looks like he represents Italy. He looks so Italian with that suit, hat, and awesome beard. I'm just saying he looks so freakin awesome. He's like Chuck Norris Italian style; just look at IT'S A LION!'s sig. Besides that, can't wait to read 413.
-
cater- …how would you know that?!

I've been posting here for 4 months and it's the first time I express some criticisms against Oda's work and the first chapter I didn't like unconditionally. So spare me your bullshit please.

Friggin' "ten shigan"! I thought he was gonna rip Usopp's heart out!
Yeah, I wanna see some of Jabura's wolf attacks. He'll like fricking bite off Sanji's ass and eat it. -

You know, I don't really like you that much, but I am with you on this one. People tend to be overprotective sometimes over their fantasies of how something they like SHOULD be, or they grab it into their arms in order to "protect this precious moment" from criticism. I think you're right. People should really learn to accept that different characters tend to filter differently the outside stimuli.
*Note: I'm not referrin to It's a Lion or someone else, I'm general here. I have seen the same thing in many other forums (the Tool one being one of the worst in this theme), and it's understandable, somehow, tho for me, not acceptable.
**It's a Lion: FUCK YES! That would be awesome.
Jyabura is maybe one of the most realistic martial artists in OP. Even the way he punched Usopp back then (the rooster incident) was traditional karate. -
-
Sorry but… Who the hell are you?
Hmm…maybe I should write, "I don't like you that much concerning your overall posts on the board".
Nothin personal, my fellow. I was talking about Aldrich as a forum being from his posts. I don't know you personally. -
You know, I don't really like you that much…
Oh snap, hehe. Guys let's be careful with our choice of words here. Let's not turn this thread into another flame war, like what happened in the spoiler thread.

No, really, that's the last thing I would like to happen. I was just sincere, and you all quote that part. In reality, I wanted to be supportive.
-
Now that I think about it, the only thing that makes me annoyed is how Oda played the "let's switch the fights up!" card again.
-
If Zoro and Sanji are gonna win 1 on 1, who will Usopp fight?
Why don´t you just sit back and wait? I´m not Oda so I can´t answer the question for you. All I know that for over 400 chapters One Piece has stayed One Piece and I dare to assume that it will still stay One Piece so leave it to Oda to make it good. The other´s helping Luffy in a fight ain´t gonna happen. That´s not One Piece.
-
Hmm Oda did mention that someone from Alabasta arc would show up…suppose all of the 4 charas in the intro page would show up and have some potent influence or just one of them? If so...I wonder which one <_<
-

It may be Mr. 2 Bon Kurei, who will then join the Strawhats. After all, he is their friend and the last we saw him (not in the cover story) he was sacrificing himself for them.
Ah, but if Franky doesn't join after this arc, I'll be sad. He is such a colorful character, he deserves to stay as a main character in other arcs too. -
I always thought Oda meant Gedatsu's serial story.
But now… anything can happen. Technically all of those characters are from Alabasta.
-
All I know that for over 400 chapters One Piece has stayed One Piece and I dare to assume that it will still stay One Piece so leave it to Oda to make it good.
Perfectly stated. All I can say is that I've found that a lot of transition scenes can be boring and sometimes seemingly stupid, but are critical to the overall flow of the story nonetheless.
-
@Cap'n:
Now that I think about it, the only thing that makes me annoyed is how Oda played the "let's switch the fights up!" card again.
Yeah he actually kinda does that a lot. Well, he did it in alabasta. With usopp and sanji. Usopp went to help chopper and sanji faced mr.2…
As for the chapter i thought it was good. I loved the zoro and kaku action in there the most. That definetly was awesome. As for the mini story ending.....I dont know. I liked the mini story but it went through some crazy shit at the end. I liked it overall though.
-
It's strange, whenever i read this chapter, I keep envisioning Kaku saying "Nose fancy…CANNON!" Seriously, Oda is God, if for no other reason then for creating a manga with several lethal noses...
But I'm jumping headfirst on the Jabura-is-way-too-badass-for-his-own-good bandwagon as well; quick and painless death my ass! The coolness gap between the EL and W7 CP9ers continue to deepen.
I don't know, something that doesn't look like the stuff Fear Factor contestants would eat.
Bwahaha!! Seriously, I'm not degrading your statement or anything, it's just a pretty good analogy!
And I can, upon refelction, kind of see your point…but I think he would be pretty unwieldable as a weapon, especially for Spandam, if his hybrid form was more Elephant-y.And BTW, where on earth is Zoros' Bandana? It's not on either arm! He better have kept it somewhere, it won't be the same if he wins in non-bandana mode...
-
I didn't think this chapter would be any good, but wow. Spandam shows off some of his power…..........sort of. And I wasn't expecting Sanji to come in and hit Jyabura. Which makes me wonder if Oda plans on keeping Usopp in the game, or if Sanji's gonna take over his fight.
