@Caracal:
Actually I've not watched past Zoro's fight with Ohm. I was under the impression everyone had some form of battle against Enel, even if it's just:
Character: I will now fight you.
Enel zaps the character
Character: I've been beaten by one move x_x
Yeah that was just Zoro and Robin… Sanji, Usopp, and Chopper didn't even get the chance to challenge Enel. He just blasted them right away, and Nami was too scared to try and fight him because she knew she couldn't win.
@Caracal:
True. It's hard to call Zoro vs Arlong a fight when Zoro was "loosing" because 1. he was mearly stalling Arlong and 2. he was suffering from a combination of his battle with Mihawk and Hachi.
Not to mention Arlong just agitated Zoro's wound then threw him away. It wasn't too much of a fight.
@Caracal:
I agree that DB > DBZ, and the only good things about DBZ was Gohan (my favourite character) and SOME of the SSj scenes. However, in Japan the series was published as a 42 tanko series called "DragonBall", which is what I was refering to.
Except the only good thing about Gohan was The Great Saiyaman. XD
But yeah I know the manga was all supposed to be one series but I feel it's better to split it in two since DBZ goes a different direction compared to it's predecessor.
Oh well the good thing about DBZ though is that it didn't pull a Digimon Frontier and make all but Goku and Vegeta useless.

I've not seen enough of either to make a fair comment, but based off what I've heard, that sounds about right. In fact, I once heard someone say they disliked One Piece because it didn't follow the cliche formulas:
- Everyone battles the villain and looses
- The hero comes in last second and wins
- The hero has to tap into the next level of their power to be able to tip the fight in their favour
- The hero is contantly training, oven to lift their power level or tap into the next level.
Heaven forbid that the idea of someone being original is gulp good.
Heck to be honest I like the change. I mean heck I'd be all for changes like the main character not having to fight the main villain in every arc or the whole training thing. I mean training scenes are usually boring and pointless anyways. We don't need to see Luffy train. We know he's strong and he's gonna make it to the end so why would we need a billion training sequences?
If anything leaving out the training sequences gives more room for character and plot development.
Also I'm glad that not all shounen's follow the cliched "My power level is higher than yours!" battle routine. It's nice to have a series like One Piece that spices it up a little. In One Piece there IS actual skill in the fights it isn't just power blasting everything.
