…He is neither Jaguar D. Saul nor Gol D. Roger. You know why? There is a crap-load of evidence:

Luffy was born too soon. Roger was executed 23 years ago, and if Luffy is 17, well...do the math. Roger isn't exactly middle-aged either.
Roger is Luffy's hero. How is this proof? Well, the only reason he admires him is because of his infamy and having plundered the One Piece (whatever that is). The mayor of his village said "His dream...or his destiny", which can be debated somewhere else. Also, he is scared of his grandfather and wouldn't idolize the man he fears.
Jaguar encourages Nico Robin to find the ponelygraphs. Why on Earth would Luffy's grandfather do that? Luffy is determined to find the One Piece, and Nico Robin wants to find the pnelygraphs (which undoubtedly are connected to One Piece). His grandfather must be a man who views justice the same way as the world govt. and he must have told Luffy not to pursue this dream. Otherwise...LUFFY WOULDN'T BE SCARED.

This isn't some ground-breaking, revolutionary theory/conclusion, but I thought I should clear it up since so many people are fond of the idea.

What the mayor said doesn't really go against Roger. Luffy set out to be pirate king like Roger, and the mayor questioned if it was destiny.

Also, we can't be entirely sure if it was fear. Remember how evident it was that Robin was a part of CP9? Oda may give a clue, but you can't really understand his direction until it's discussed in the series.

The One Piece if for whoever finds it. I'm a little sure Luffy's grandpa wouldn't guarantee it for Luffy not knowing the man he'd become. Also, we really can't say how the poneglyphs are related to OP, so we can't really know if the two quests were meant to coincide.

And again, fear is an assumption. It's likely, but remember how bold he was at 7 years old, and how he left 10 years later just as he'd planned to leave.

This is op and even roger could be his father and he is not dead like he has Bun Bun no Mi ( Bunshin = Clone ) and made a clone of himself and seemed like dead there then started a new life in a village and made the woman he loves give birth to two kids then they found out he is not dead and killed him What i mean is it is anime so you have to wait everything cause it is not imposible

Meh. I don't doubt it could be someone new, but none of that evidence really says it isn't Saul or Rogers. We'll just have to wait and see.

Saul is a giant, hes not Luffys grandfather. Gol D. Roger is not his grandfather, this one don't need an excuse.

Um, why did you contradict yourself in an attempt to insult my theory?

Look, I'm not 100% sure about Saul, but Gol D. Roger CAN'T be him. Wether you think it was fear or not, we know it was uneasieness. Once again: Why would he idolize the man he fears/doesn't want anyone to know about??? This means Aokiji did NOT "deal with" Gol D, Roger which means he isn't his Gramps.
