In all of my journeys I've noticed something strikingly similar in all BBS's: the inevitable "Man it used to be so good back in the day."
I firmly assert that this statement is bullshit.
Yep…I've seen the same exact thing many times over as well. Sometimes on the same board after one group of members turned over to the next. Forums are made of whatever people bring to it.

Erm, thank you but that wasn't me though ^_^; I just happened to catch him on camera.
Anybody complaining about the mods being hardasses should try looking at others forums (which I won't be naming) at least they don't have stupid rules like how if your sig is over 650X200 you'll get a two week ban or if your account remains inactive for more than 60 days it'll be deleted.
That's pretty much why I like coming here because not all the members are jerks, the Moderaters are fair & impartial, The threads (some of them) are actually fun & most of the rules aren't strict in any way shape or form.
Anyway as long as this forum is up that's all that really matters to me.
your account remains inactive for more than 60 days it'll be deleted.
actually…for us, it's 90 days and less than 10 posts >_>
hmmm that I didn't know but since I come here everyday (almost everyday) I guess I have nothing to worry about but anyway thx for the heads up.
well if you have more than 10 posts then you also have nothing to worry about. we don't clear out the old users to be mean, but to help keep the site running and optimized.
Well, we can't really go back to what we once were because of the huge difference in the number of members.
There used to be less than hundred active members, but I can see that this figure is way larger now. To keep things running, we need to enforce some rules of which is inevitable. You won't want to see the forums in mayhem do you? Just my 2 cents.
Not much to say cos I haven't been active in forum discussions =X and I think the only reason I am still around is because I live in a timezone totally opposite that of the other mods/admins.

 That was actually how my first forum was. Intro threads wern't allowed, no chat speak, even threads about personal issues were off limits. And that was the tip of the iceburg. ;) Needless to say, while there was always a massive debate about how strict it was, the forums were always interesting and clean. (not that I want AP to become that strict though, just saying.)

OFf topic: was that that christian forum XD
For some reason i googled one piece or something and i saw your username at a chirstian forum and a topic about one piece XD
No, that was actually a different forum. CF is fairly leaniant actually, even more so than here. ^^ But yeah, that was probably one of my failed attempts to get people to watch One Piece. It's always about Inuyasha or FMA with them. -__-
having read this topic through, i can see where both sides are coming from. I have my own small scans forum and hopefully one day it becomes big, so i can learn from your mistakes/successes. In the end, no one needs to be here, so you might as well get used to the changes. However, isnt the kind of stuff that is being modded in some kind of rules somewhere?

I find it ironic that bunch of Christians are obsessed with shows about demons and alchemy. XD
I think one of the more stupid rules I encountered at a messageboard was that topics that fell off the front page couldn't be ressurrected. They would rather people just keep starting new threads.

Bah, well… the forums are open to everybody of all denomination, and topics debating over anime and Christianity pop up every so often, that I just stopped being suprised at what people are into over there. (and I'm one to talk, I watch South Park. ^^; ) The ones that are obsessive are mostly spamers anyway.
However, isnt the kind of stuff that is being modded in some kind of rules somewhere?
Which stuff do you mean?
- We want to keep the quality of the threads as high as possible. Because of this, we ask that there be…
-- No spamming (things that resemble "junk" e-mail, threads without a point)
and here's something someone should have brought up a while ago.
While you're in general, please think about what it is you're posting BEFORE you post. Is it a link to something pointless? Is it a poll about someone's favourite colour? Is it an A/S/L style query? Please please PLEASE don't post it. General discussion is for just that:DISCUSSION. I'm pretty lenient, and I let things slide, but I'm seeing a lot of topics that just don't have any sort of point to them.
So, before you link that list of lame jokes, or that picture with "pwned" in poor writing, or poll everyones' favourite candy bar, or ask who lives in Zimbabwe… please consider wether or not it really needs to be posted at all. Not saying anyone has done this... yet... but they're examples.
I want this forum to be a good place for off-topic discussions, not a dumping grounds for post-count fodder.
Also, I will kill any game that results in one word post responses. I mean it.
Thank you for your time.
Although not written in the official rules, It's essentially an add on to the rules meant for general.
Man, this thread was a great read! I'm glad the mods are stepping up to put an end to moronic and discussion-less threads. I mean do we really need "Which OP character shouldn't use AIM"?! etc. While I understand some people liking the "game" threads I never really participated int hem so it doens't bother me so much. (I posted inthe Sig/Avi thread I think…once. I just don't change my sig/avi very often ^_^)
It's nice to see the mods taking some initiative and being proactive in trying to make this forum run smoother. I totally agree, removing the stupidity doens't remove fun, in fact, it makes things more accessible to everyone.
Although a strictly enforced "game" subforum (not Spam, but actual games going on) wouldn't really hurt. It'd jsut give these poor ol mods more stuff to do, i guess ^_^;
