Although they seem to have cut a bit of Calgaras speach about the ancestors.

This releasing speed is incredible. Skypiea is almost done for. I remeber as it was yesterday when K-F subbed ep 143 where the ship fell from the sky. Thanks K-F for all the hard work. It is gladly appreciated.

This most definately has probably been mentioned, but I'm gonna refresh now.
I just looked through the manga pages again, and I saw the date of when Montblanc Norland came to Jaya. It was May. 12, year 1122.
So, that means that the current year in One Piece is 1522, and Gold Roger started the pirate age at 1500. That also means that the great poneglyph wars and the time blackout took place from the years 700-800.

I thought this was a really good episode myself, despite some cuts. Like I said before, if you're seeing the flashback for the first time, you want to rush through it to get to end of the fight, but when you're past that and you just want to enjoy the story, it's really good. Oda is a great storyteller. It's stuff like this that puts One Piece a notch above.

The only thing that I find funny aboot this flashback ministory is that it happens between the most dramatic episodes in the arc. Luffy climbing up the beanstalk and then, well those that haven't seen the complete skypedia arc, I won't spoil it for you. Still Oda picked an interesting time to place a flashback ministory at.
Another question is that why wasn't this story told at the end of the arc or something by wiper to the Straw Hat crew? To the audience, this story is almost breaking the fourth wall and being just told out of the timeline. Oh well, it doesn't matter. The flashback ministory is good, one of the best flashback ministories in One Piece history.

! …It makes best impact on the readers/watchers now because of the help that Wiper is going to lend Luffy by "Rejecting" Giant Jack! Remember that Wiper cries when he hears that the descendant of Montblanc Norland lives down in the Blue Sea right now and that Luffy want´s to ring the belfry for him. It would seem so out of place if Wiper would be crying around while the flashback wouldn´t have taken place yet. It is the perfect timing IMO.
