Burning DVD's for dummies

I have tons of anime burned on CD's in lots of file formats.
I have a DVD burner now and want to transfer them all to DVDs.
I don't want the anime in several file formats, i want to convert them all to DVD files. (what ever the term is) To clarify, I want the DVDs to be playable on my DVD player.

I know I will need some sort of program to convert the files for me. That's about all I know. What kind of program should I download to convert my files, and if possible, where can I get it.

Also, I know windows XP can burn CDs; can it burn DVDs as well, or do I need to download a program for that as well?

let's see, If you want the best quality, then you can only fit max 8 or 10 per disk. I use winavi which can batch convert and such and doesnt take as much time as other avi/whatever to dvd format and from there you can burn it using nero to dvd. That will play on your dvd player but with no menu. You can get another program to make them but i dont remember it

Mugiwara, this is the internet. You can simply download the trail of WinAVI and find a serial code. That however, you'll have to find on your own seeing how I would get in trouble most likely if I gave you it.

alot of work? lol, winavi is click on convert to vob, add files, change settings, convert, burn. That's it.

Depends on what you want actually I should say.

If you want more freedom (i.e. more customisable menus, subtitles etc.) you need to do more. WinAVI isn't that great for making DVDs IMO <_< For my case, the DVD I made with it had serious audio desync.

@Buuhan1: Lol I didn't say anything about paying for them =P I only said you might need paid software XD

ok, what would I do if I wanted menus? It would be nice, but not nessisary if it's too much of a hassle.

You can also use WinAVI for this though the options are more limited.

finally got some time to burn DVD's so I check out suggested links.
i thought AP was suposed to be PG 13. That was the most discusting thing I've ever seen. I didn't bother to see if the page had any info of use for me. I'm not staring at smut like that.

if i knew that, I wouldn't be asking people how/where to get this stuff. I usually use download.com for software and stuff. no smut on there.

I tried to convert to DVD long time ago ..but that took a whole day @_@

I hope winavi isn't this slow..is it?

After i convert the files to DVD format, and burn it, and eventually play it on my DVD player, can i skip ahead like fast forward and rewind?

I asume you can, but you won't be able to skip to the next "chapter"/episode etc. unless you have made menues for the DVD. Menues were discussed above.
