If Usopp joins back, should he stay as Sogeking, or should he throw that costume away for good after this arc, and return to good old Usopp? This is also implying that Luffy finds out that Sogeking is Usopp. So he knows that Usopp is joining back, instead of a superhero. What are your thoughts?

Usopp should be the one that joins the crew; but the Shadow of SOgeking should be kept in reserve for desperate moments that require a superhero's spectacular entrance, much the same way that Sanji's Mr. Prince persona should remain to be used for covert missions.

Usopp being permenantly Sogeking would blow chunks.
Usopp every once in a while appearing as Sogeking would be cool. I'm hoping that at the end of the arc, we're led to think that Sogeking is gone, but then they show the mask patched up or something that gives a little hint that he might come back in the future. But who knows.

Agreed. I believe in another thread you posted an idea where Ussop runs from a fight to change into Sogeking. Personally I'd like to see him do that in future arcs.

I'd like to see him wear it in a serious fight only, like when Zoro puts on a bandana. It gives you the idea that the fight has major character development potential.

Ussop needs to rejoin the crew not Sogeking. It's almost unavoidable that the SH's will be meeting up with Shanks and his crew. The impact of son meeting father for the first time in nearly twenty years will be infintly diminished if Ussop is wearing his Sogeking mask. Well I suppose Ussop can take off the mask when Luffy and company isn't looking, but either way there will still be a diminished impact.

It'll be boring if Usopp kept his mask on for the rest of the series. Usopp need to delevop his character by bravely rejoining without the mask and he have to resolve his matter with Luffy to boost his character points.
If he rejoins as Sogeking then that would suck and makes Usopp look more bad. I'll want to see his bare Usopp face again.
Usopp may use Sogeking mask in future battles but after that he'll take it off.

As much as I like Sogeking, I don't want him to appear in a serious way as such after this arc. For comedic purposes fine, but other than that it should stick to Enies Lobby. So, Usopp all the way for me.

I like Usopp rejoining and as the Strawhats are leaving Enies Lobby or Impel Down or wherever the arc pulls to a close, Luffy keeps asking "Where's that bad-ass Sogeking guy we met?"
It's funnier if Luffy never figures out the obvious, but at the same time, the fact he was willing to assist under the new name shows his commitment to nakama. Both sides of the coin show great merit.

My speculation is Sogekings mask which is already in bad condition will be completely destroyed by the end of Enies Lobby, that will be how Luffy and Chopper find out about him and at that time he'll get the snapshot for his wanted poster.
I wonder how Kaya will feel when she sees Usopp all bandaged like that.

Actually I don't think he'd turn someone else in. I don't think there would be enough evidence to get someone else to take the blame anyway. But, what if Sogeking faked death in costume somehow? -

Portrait of Usopp later, bounty either 40 or 90 million. Depending on the message to send: Has Usopp been able to fulfill his own image by later acts?
In English class, the instructor said one thing you had to understand in Shakespeare was that any disguise was meant to be a complete fool-proof disguise. Suppose Oda's emulating that, or having Usopp-Sogeking think along those lines?

Though I have to admit, it'd be funny to see some pirate (perhaps in one of the lighter arcs) pretending to be "Sogeking" and scaring some people (since Sogeking will, of course, have a huge bounty.)

That kinda reminds me of Trigun, with everybody pretending to be Vash, except, well, Vash himself.
I would like to see how would people/enemy pirates (who most likely think of Usopp as a weak wimp, that what the all do at the beginning) react when they find out, that Usopp is the true Sogeking…. -

i kind of thought that too, but then I think Usopp would be upset, and might le the marines know he is Sogeking. To pirates, their bounty is a sence of pride. The bigger the bounty, the better the pirate. Remember how jealous everyone was of Luffy when he got one. Hell, even Sanji was jealous the back of Usopp's head was in the shot.

It could turn out that Sogeking gets the bounty, but the problem I see with that is that it works against Usopp's dream, because he always says that he wants his name to be known, to be a brave warrior of the sea, and if he's hiding behind a mask, then even if he is being brave, the credit is going to a non-existant person. Not to mention that the mask itself represents some of his fears. So at some point or another, Sogeking has to die.
I kind of like the idea of Usopp having the Vash syndrome. XD Vash was my favorite anime character before I saw One Piece. Don't think that will happen, though.

I just had this bizaare idea:
Usopp drops the Sogeking act and gets back to making gadgets to fight the enemy. Somehow, his creations become more dangerous, and Usopp becomes slightly mad. Descending suddenly into a fever, the new, Evil Usopp(looking alot like Usodabada from the Chopperman omake) does battle with his archnemesis, Sogeking. At the end of a long battle, filled with Sogeking's bravery and Evil Usopp's treachery, the masked hero emerges victorious, drops his mask, and resumes being the Good Usopp we all know and (most of us) love. His eight thousand followers cheer, and Kaya gives him a snuggle. :wub: Then he wakes up, much to Chopper's relief, from a three-day coma induced by an explosion caused by his recent, highly-dangerous weapon. Usopp vows to never make such lethal contraptions again.

i'm kinda feeling the same way… the theme song is funny... but only that first time. after that i was like "ok guys...."
its kinda how when i first saw Zoro do the 'Tarzan yell', i had thought he was the only one to do it, therefore i found it hilarious! but that whole episode, everyone else was doing it so it lost some of its funniness... Toei just has a tendency to drag jokes out and it gets on my nerves a little

hmm my take on it is that Ussop should only become Sogeking when he needs to feel braver. Like in a fight, Ussop uses the Sogeking persona to combat an enemy. Other people have been comparing the Sogeking persona to Zoro's banada. I like that idea for the Sogeking persona.
or a combination of both Sogeking and Ussop, because that weapon is so damn cool.
