Well people said Ichigo's dub voice was bad at first too especially with just the trailer…. but I think now the general consensus think it's good right?
So just because Light's voice is horrid in the trailer I'm sure it'll be better in the actual anime.

Well to be fair, Light is kind of a preppy, self-righteous, asshole. That definitely comes across in the trailer. The trouble is that theres a lack of "sinister" about his voice, he sounds like a little bitch. Hopefully that will improve with progress.
Now L actually sounds pretty cool. But he didn't say enough (in his normal voice) for me to make any good judgements.

He starts out a bit humble, normal, but the smartest kid in Japan and one the few who haven't lost a ton of morals and innocence.
After the Death Note comes along he should sound sinister.
Nothing really preppy about him though.
And they did the voice change all wrong. It's too deep and doesn't sound like a voice changer, more like a bad signal while talking to an ogre or something.
Misa and Ryuk will be barely standable, and the voice acting is going to kill this dub if all the voices are like that. Unenthusiastic. Bad Matches.That don't sound right.

Misa isn't a little girl though. I think it'll end up sounding very serious instead of the playful and somewhat annoying Japanese voice.
Seriously, if they can't pick good VAs for the main characters, I doubt the major secondary characters will be much better.

And the acting is so-so at best. Not nearly emotional enough.
And if anyone has played the PS2 Game Bully, well, light sounds like the prep guys if you ask me.
I could make a better dub, and if anyone knows where I can find a DVD rip with all 3 layers(BGM, SFX, and Voices) I honestly would try it. I best I could do a job waay better than Viz has already done…
Seriously...the voices suck. I'm going to have issues watching it, and I hope it doesn't scare people away from the original.
All you have to do is show them the sub and all the hilariously epic scenes with the orchestral music, and they'll be interested. Its one of the reasons I started watching the series.

as for near I love how he keeps egging light on with his theories.
my favorite part of that episode is the part where misa jumps up from her pc and yells money won't bring you love and peace. So corny and at the same time so hypocritical, to say, when she is using the death note to kill people. XD it was funny.

I'm getting severly dissapointed in the anime. From what I can tell from the next episode preview, they aren't going to spend a lot of time on Mikami's flashback, and that's if they show any of it at all! :sad: Which is sad, because it's arguably the best part of the second arc.
All this skipping crap is getting annoying. I understand speeding up the second arc to make it more interesting, but come on, they are skipping some cool important stuff. And I can't take this retarted dramtic stuff either. Mikami's epic writing at least wasn't as bad as Light's epic potato chip eating or L's episode cell phone switching. I like the anime for seeing certain stuff animated, but that's about it.
So yeah, if the dub comes out and people start complaining that people should watch the sub instead, I say screw that, read the manga.

Exactly why it sucked. It's not suppose to be funny. It was meant to be epic in a very subtle way. Some light, soft, creepy music would have done the trick to make the scene great, but Madhouse had to go friggen crazy.

Doubt it. Madhouse seems very okay with rushing through everything and cutting stuff out to finish the anime in 37 episodes. I figure the next episode will finish volume 10, and 33 and 34 will cover volume 11, leaving 3 episodes for volume 12 to be covered in.

Yep. 37 episodes.
I like both openings. I liked Light's epic writing in the first episode. All that stuff was fine to me. It was the potato chip scene that had me laughing, along with several scenes after that.

The anime has been listed as having 37 episodes from the beginning. Considering episode 29 covered a full volume's worth and 30 and 31 covered about half a volume each, I basically have no doubt that that's how many episodes it will be.
