Yeah, DG hasn't made a release since episode 14. I think I heard they're short translators, but that may not be true. As for the others…
Animenoobs are speedsubbers. The video quality is slightly lower, but it's barely noticable unless you're sensitive about that kind of thing. They usually release like 12-16 hours after the raw.
Animanda has slightly higher quality video, but they typically don't release until Saturday or Sunday.

personally I been trying to figure out which looks best burned on dvd. Everyone seems to be doing white so they all blend in with L's clothing. =/
oh and the "achooo" shiznit was pretty funny

I don't think was posted before but here's more info on the Deathnote DS game that's coming out 2/15. Also, there's also TCG that's going to be released about a month later.

New opening (starts with episode 20):

-
All I've got to say is absurbly awesome. I know it won't be most people's cup of tea, but I love the crazy fest that it is. And I'm also glad to see the second part isn't going to get cut out.
-
Haha, what the hell was that.
But like it or not, kudos to Madhouse for trying something different. -

This is one of the worst openings I have ever seen, but I couldn't help but laugh at it.
-
I absolutley love the new opening. It gets me so pumped.
-
lol, OP 2 had me rolling laughing my ass off, yet I thought it was fucking badass.

What the..? I laughed too hard while watching this. Funny work from Madhouse. But it is at least nice to see that they try something different… yet frickin' funny.

Well that cetainly was…....unique. :pouty:
-
Wow, and I thought that it couldn't get any dumber than the first opening.
-
I think my ears are bleeding…
-
That was horrible.
Freaky L skinny nibble chocolates?
L karate spin kick?
Infamous Light face cloning set to bad music?
Blargh.
Ryuk's seizure death metal jibberinh apple chasery.
Ryuk trophy apple knock knock dance seiqzure bulb backs.
Someone make "L's having a wonderful time" and be done with it.
-
The new opening is GREAT. Finally something besides a J-rock/pop cookie cutter.
Japanese System of a Down, anyone?
-
I was actually thinking more along the lines of that show on adult swim, metalalcolypse or something
-

Except you can understand what SOAD says.
-
Is the manga in English any good?
-
The new opening reminds me of todays american's music that teens listens to. The opening made me laugh so hard though!
-
It wounds like Japanese Slipknot, only better than Slipknot.

Dont forget the use of rather unnecessary posing Misa screen time

Am I the only person who thinks that the perfect opening theme for a Death Note anime would be some sad instrumental orchestral piece? Both openings thus far have been pretty pathetic in matching the feel of the actual series.
-

I have to go with that. I also did feel that its dark theme required some dark orchestral theme, or some Bethoven classic. So far, the OPs aren't even close to matching its theme, they serve more in matching Japanese Metal PVs or any extreme shounen action anime and not Death Note in my opinion. Its not like in Death Note, we see everyone in Hot Topic clothes rocking their asses of with Japanese Rock and Metal or doing crazy 1337 fights.
-
I dunno… while I wholly dislike the music of opening two, the animation itself is rather interesting, if for all the stuff going on around. Some sad instrumental orchestral piece I don't think could really have that type of scenario without being really, really screwed up.
-
SOAD is a really, really bad band and their songs are incomprehensible, poorly thought out "political" gibberish. I have not know everything about them except I've heard two songs and I've hated them.

I think the OPs and EDs we have have managed to match the series very well. I do think an orchestral piece would fit the ending of the series well, though.
-
i don't lilke this opening. yeah it sounds like slipknot and i hate slipknot. but it's still interesting to see that they do non conventional stuff like that.
i know it's off topic but i need to rant on that: it's way worse than the brilliant first ending of "welcome to the NHK" that little otakus listening to too much jpop hated for no other reason than "it's too hard".
-

You've only heard what's on the radio. This band isn't nearly as good as they used to be, their first cd (the self-titled) is absolute brilliance. The vocals are some of the most dynamic in "heavy" music, and most of it is really, really catchy.
<3<3<3<3<3 the new opening.
And those of you who hate EXTREEEEME music, at least its different/cool animation.
I'm predicting opening 3 will be something more along the lines of sad classical tho, that would make sense.
P.S. Slipknot is the gay. Listen to something besides what the mall tells you to.
-
lol this song is hilarious XD
-34912048 laughing lights
-mesa scenes
-L on drugs
-are they actually saying Hey hey ningen sucker, aa ningen ningen fucker lmao!- and the last 5 seconds of yelling gibberish XD
even tho i dont like this op, i find the song matches perfectly with DN
-
Argh, that opening was painfully, hilariously bad.
-
I saw it and sat there and was like "….what............" and I felt sad because I actually liked the first opening/ed alot.
-
I honestly laughed my ass off the entire time.
I wish I could've seen the meeting where these people decided this was the perfect opening.
It's so… I can't even describe it... I almost want to think it's a parody or something.
But oh god, the million laughing Lights and the Ryuk hardcore apple chasing.... oh god
The new opening is GREAT. Finally something besides a J-rock/pop cookie cutter.
Japanese System of a Down, anyone?
The only way I can think of that can draw a line from "Japanese System of a Down" to the word "great" is if the Japanese equivalent is better because you can't understand their hideous lyrics.
Even then, that doesn't excuse the laughably stupid and horrendous animation going on
-
<3<3<3<3<3 the new opening.

That was EXTREEEEME suck. I dislike meaningless screaming branded as music, engrish in turkey-gobble speak, Engrish whispering, rapid-fire repetitive crap.
What I heard:
During L's having of a wonderful time and Ryuks extreme apple quest:
"BillibendanzBillibendanzBillibendanzARingan" hyper chipmunk speed.
During the dramatic gun moving:
"AbillibullikashAbillibullikashAbillibullikashAringan"
The end was entirely ununderstandable.
During Misa's unnescessary posing for stupid fanboys:"Roxthefozzoiaghaghakillatolli"
-
lol, Animenoobs didn't even try to translate the jibberish in the opening.
Anyone seen the ending? It's even better than the opening imo.
-
It's even better than the opening imo.
It's not that hard to do that.
-
lol, the official lyrics for that chanting part are "Hey hey ningen sucker. Aa ningen ningen fucker."
-
buncha whiners! You just want the same damn j-pop over and over again. This is probably my favorite anime op ever.
edit: I knew they said fuka! ("fucker") lol
-

It's not that we aren't interested that they tried something new. But just because it's unconventional doesn't make it something good.
-

This I can agree with. Unconventionality for the sake of it is a little botarded.
However, I am biased since for the past 10 years of my life the main genre I've been into is metal, hardcore, etc., so I like alot of chaotic/angry/frustrating sounding music.
Not to mention, I really feel the fast pace, surrealness and sensory-overload of this OP is perfect for events to come.
Hell, the first time I read death note I felt like my brain was gonna asplode.
-
I like loud hard rock, but usually not anything that includes screaming. The new OP and Ed are an exception for me.

Well, I like metal to a fault to, but this… just sounds like a bunch of loud noise to me. And trying to use something fast paced and "exciting" with Death Note is just hilarious.
-
@Cap'n:

Exactly. What is it supposed to get you excited for? Hardkore mind battles?
-
yeah I love Metal but this is Garbage
and the use with DN….lol

Umm, yea!

Agreed. I mean, Death Note always felt like a high-octane action shounen manga to me, except with battles of the mind.

are we reading the same manga?
-
I think the point I and killerfly are trying to make is that DN uses rivalry and "battles" of a sort in a way that makes it exciting, even tho its outside the norm for Shonen Jump series.
-
brilliant episode! and misa is the best. and i was afraid they'd finish the anime with "somebody's something" but now i know they'll make it all. good thing since i never read it all.
