anyone find 29 subbed yet? I'm wondering if an episode didn't air this past week?
From comment for
AMV~Die Light Die!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOoT!!! but the video is cool!!!! i need this kind of angering music cuz i just saw ep. 25 w/ l's death!!!! DIE motherf****ing LIGHT DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not to direct this to all L fangirls but looks like some dont know how to hate or love logically. -_- For the love of god for those fangirls STILL ranting of L's death and hating Light, calm the fuck down. Quit making yourself like a bunch of n00bs online. If you want to rejoice, go read ch 107 of Death Note and drool to the glory of L being avenged by Near.
That'll be a good solution for you girls.[/sarcasm]

I think this was an instance where scientists thought they had found the maximum gay level that can be attained, but then VGCATS shatters that barrier

Supposedly there's one subbed by Stormberry.tv.
Loading it right now. :3
Ahh. Speaking of fangirls, I can't wait till Mikami shows up.
Death Note Fangirl's Dream:
wholey moley, light is a cold hearted jerk. I asumed that happened in the manga too?
thanks fleur, it wasn't coming up with the sub titles for me.
hey, has anyone else been catching on with the theme song. I don't get it. I hate that kind of music, yet I am startign to like this theme. :P

I'm telling ya, it's brainwashing us into this kind of music. Soon after that, it's going to be heroine and meth every day!

This OP really makes me wish there were more screamer metal OPs for dark-themed anime than generic J-Rock. J-Metal FTW~!!
ooh, did anyone see ep 30 yet? man, I can't wait to see what happens.
I sort of lost track though. How did Near figure out that Kira is Light?
Haha, I've been getting used to the opening, too.
Just watched 30; the art for this show never ceases to amaze me.
I sort of lost track though. How did Near figure out that Kira is Light?
Speculating, speculating, and more speculating. X_x
You'll rememeber when you see the episode.
I sort of lost track though. How did Near figure out that Kira is Light?
He guessed.
No seriously.
No Aizawa told him that Sochiro told him that when they had the suspect in confinement he said "I'll kill Kira then myself." Near reduced it too that they were related and chose light yagami.
And how did he get the suspect?
Guessing.

I hate to sound anoiying, but, um, …...what?
Near is able to figure out things by working off a hunch.
L always liked to use evidence so he could narrow down the possible conclusions and then the magical "I figured it out" moment happens before most people would get it.
Near somehow manages to get a small lead or piece of evidence that doesn't say much, and somehow make a ton of theories possible and then figures it out magically.
I don't know how he does it, but it's sorta like showing your work when doing math. In this case, it's sorta like you can't get it no matter how you do the work, but Near skips ahead, and has the awnser, and only once you have the awnser can you understand how to get to the conclusion…
At least, that's was it seems like.
When L was around the investigation made tons more sense.
I have never seen the anime version of this scene, but in the manga Aizawa (The guy with the afro, then gets short hair/ a beard later on) tells Near pretty much everything what happened with L except the name of the current L (Light) and the suspects of the 1st kira and second kira.
So basically when Aizawa was explaining it to him he told about Sochiro, Light's dad, pointing a gun to Light's head saying "I am going to kill Kira then myself!"
Based on that statement, Near could figure out that the Kira Suspect and Sochiro were related.
Out of the three family members, Light seemed most likely and so Near chose him. He then followed up on this and stuff. I would say more, but I don't know how far the anime is.
edit: Not really, I thought it made pretty good sense with Near.
OHHH! ok. well that makes sence then. ( that it shouldn't make sence) :P I was looking for all those clues to lead to the conclusion, like L always had.
Near figured things out with halfassed guesses because the author needed to end the story.
Near pretty much made hypothetical hunches throughout the entire second arc. Barely any advance he made in the investigation was of his own sleuthing prowess, and, moreover, Light's plan completely blew away Near's.
If Near didn't totally suck as a character, the ending to the manga would have been a lot more enjoyable.
I don't think the scene with Aizawa telling Near this was in the anime though. I think the anime skips over that whole meeting and goes into Near speculating on Kira at the beginning.
@Cap'n:

! While I don't deny the truth of your statement, I always accepted Near's assumptions as his character flaw which puts him below L, like the way Mello clouds his judgement with emotions. This is shown in how Light basically creates his final plan on the basis that Near will make his usual assumptions and fall into Light's trap.

this may be what was confusing me. :)

Speaking of which, what have they cut in the anime so far for part 2?
Viz's site has been updated with tons of info. But the two most important things are that you can purchase the first two subbed episodes from Viz, and that the new trailer(3rd one) includes Light and L's English voices.
Speaking of which, what have they cut in the anime so far for part 2?
The entire incident with the US President was skipped straight to the Task Force invading Mello's base.
They skipped the Mello sending Mogi to Nears base. They just had Light tell the President to tell Demegawa where the base is.
And that's just the two major things they skipped. Other smaller stuff was also skipped.
Hahah oh man, Light's voice sucks so bad.
I found L's pretty good though minus the monsterious killer effect it had on it.
Lights voice…No....No....NO!
L's voice sounded cool, a bit too deep though, the monster effect sounded neat but a bit scary which it shouldnt but oh well.
Ugh, I can't say I like Light's voice at all.
I'm also wondering, what episode does Part 2 start at?
I haven't watched any of the Death Note anime since.. when Raye Penber (or however its spelled) showed up.
Oh, no. moan
Light sounds like an annoying brat; and not intelligent at all. And L's voice…is that really him? Or is it supposed to be him talking through one of his speakers? Because it sounds rather...inhuman.
With how much effort seemed to be put into finding good voices for the two biggest characters in the series (well…L is sorta), I am actually kinda glad Viz didn't get One Peice. They seem to be focusing only on making Naruto have the most quality and quantity right now and everything else is just second place.

That's his voice disguised over the news broadcast.
Yeah…they could have done a much better job with voices.
And the acting is so-so at best. Not nearly emotional enough.
And if anyone has played the PS2 Game Bully, well, light sounds like the prep guys if you ask me.
I could make a better dub, and if anyone knows where I can find a DVD rip with all 3 layers(BGM, SFX, and Voices) I honestly would try it. I best I could do a job waay better than Viz has already done…
Seriously...the voices suck. I'm going to have issues watching it, and I hope it doesn't scare people away from the original.

The voice we hear most of in the trailer is L's scrambled voice when he is talking to the public. I think the one line that is said in L's normal voice is the "…if you can" at the very end of the trailer.

Well, Viz gave Death Note to Ocean, the worst dubbing studio Viz has, while Naruto is done by Studiopolis.
eaw….well, light's i can live with, but if that was L's real voice at the end, that really sucked.
And if anyone has played the PS2 Game Bully, well, light sounds like the prep guys if you ask me.
Well to be fair, Light is kind of a preppy, self-righteous, asshole. That definitely comes across in the trailer. The trouble is that theres a lack of "sinister" about his voice, he sounds like a little bitch. Hopefully that will improve with progress.
Now L actually sounds pretty cool. But he didn't say enough (in his normal voice) for me to make any good judgements.

Oh shit, Ocean? D:
Yeah, Studiopolis definitely uses the best actors. I think Bleach is done there as well. The English version of FFXII was recorded there too.

Actually, I think Bleach is done by Bang Zoom!
@EvilGamerX:
The site is also easy to break…

Apparently Viz realized this, because they took the site down and put the old one with nothing on it back up.
Actually, I think Bleach is done by Bang Zoom!
Nope, Studiopolis does Bleach.

Alternative link to the trailer.
where did u guys hear L's voice?
edit: nvm, turns out that the trailer continues after the blue bar stops
they both sound funny XD
I really don't like Light's voice, L's voice didn't sound that bad from that two second snipet of his actual voice. I could get used to Lights, but yeah… Not the greatest. This is why I don't like Viz.
EDIT: Never mind, L's voice is really bad too.
Really? I love L's voice. It's different, but it sounds cool. It actually kinda sounds like he is being voiced by steve blum at the end, but I am not sure.
I think L actually sounded pretty close to Yamaguchi's voice in Japanese.
Either way, I'll have to actually watch few episodes of the dub before I give any real praise or haze.

Probably not since he isn't in Canada.
Not like L had a good voice to begin with
From what I have seen, those who haven't seen the Death Note sub love the trailer. It's getting people really interested in the series. Matched with Viz's spot on translation, I must say I'm satisfied.
@Cap'n:

You don't think Yamaguchi made a good L. I have to disagree with you there. I was nervous when I heard he was doing the voice, but I thought he turned out to be a pretty great choice. I almost can't imagine anyone else as L.
