I can´t believe that no one else has made a thread of this yet, but someone´s got to do it.
What do you think of the trailer? Just saw it myself and it looked really great, with Jack Sparrow oglinng at his hand, (you know what I mean) and I think the movie ows a lot to One Piece. Mermen anyone? Cannibals? Hope I`m not spoiling anyone, it´s all in the trailer.

Forgive omae for not making straight-to-the-point topic titles:

^o^ What is this "straight-to-the-point" you speak of? ^o^;
-
"This summer … pirates will reign"
versus
"Summer 2006: Pirates of the Caribbean 2" -
Yes changso, it was a joke dude ^_~
-
Well, maybe they should be merged and keep this title to rid confussion. I hear Buena Vista Games is making a game based off PotC: II.
-
Honestly? My thread was never intended to be movie discussion, just a trailer unveiling thingie. A clearly marked thread for the movie in general is a much better idea.
-
um, maybe I'm just forgetfull, but when was there a cannibal in OP?
-
Wapol
-
He don't count, he'd eat anything.
Even his own dick. (y~ouch!)
-
well, not my choice of words Buu…..but ya, my thoughts too.
-

That includes people, thus he's a cannibal. On topic, I still haven't seen the first movie, and my friends always bug me about it. With that being said, they'll probably make me watch the first one and drag me to this one.
-
You need to see it man, its one of the best movies I've seen.
-
I'm soo gonna see this movie!
-
um, maybe I'm just forgetfull, but when was there a cannibal in OP?
well there was that kumadori tribe that tried to eat Richie and most of buggys crew in "little buggys big adventure" mini story….

It's not like you missed a lot…the first one was very nice. Depp was great...but then again, there are dozens of nice movies every year, so nothing special.
-
Yes, I meant the Kumadori cannibals but couldn´t remember the name. Anyhow, exactly what is this Davy Jones´s locker? I´ve heard of it in many movies, once even in Felix the Cat- cartoon but is was there ever a real guy (pirate?) named Davy Jones? :hm:
And the locker… The first thing that comes to mind is the place for yous schoolbooks. -

It's the Kumate Tribe actually; Kumadori is one of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers.

I believe Davy Jones's Locker is just a reference to the bottom of the sea.
-
Aye, Davy Jone's Locker is pirate slan for the bottom of the sea.
We'll strap your arms and legs and send you to the bottom of "Davy Jone's Locker"!
-
Date movie! sqeals and runs around
It comes out in July for us Aussies =3 I soooo cannot wait. It's gonna kick!
-
Kick the shit. yes indeedy.
I can't wait, I was really temtped to steal one of the huge posters in the cinema.
-
Try it, I bet you wont be seeing the movie for quite sometime if you do. XD
-
I'd do it and still see any movie I want… cause I'm just that good.
-
Wanna see this movie badly, man… can't wait for it.
-
I saw the first one for the first time a few weeks ago, and I have to say it was rather mediocre. I mean, it was entertaining at times, but I'd give it a 6 out of 10 at most.
It would've been more bearable if Johnny Depp didn't prance around like King Fairy.
The best part of the film was definitely the evil zombie pirate captain man. Barbossa, I think was his name.
-
This is the plan for July 2nd when it opens in Hobart Australia.
A bunch of us stupid and crazy people are going down to the main city park…which is right near the wharf, hlaf dressed as Ninja... the other half dressed as Pyrates.
Then... We're gonna beat the absolute SHIT out of each other with Boff weapons that I have to make.
If the Police come we're gonna disappear like the ninja and hid on boats like Pyrates...
Then we're all going to see the movie. -
Didn't Robin once explain this?
I believe Davy Jones's Locker is just a reference to the bottom of the sea.
Davy Jones was a pirate cursed by the devil. He was cursed to the bottom of the sea and supposedly he's still alive down there.
He eats souls of pirates or something. Or keeps them in his "locker" down there.

What better way to celebrate Pirates than watch Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest. Also, a third one is in the making. I don't know the title but the story has to do with Captain Jack Sparrow's father I think.
-
And for some reason, in the cast listing,
! it has Barbossa, AND Davy Jones
-
Someone spoiled the friggin' ending for me on the radio. Thanks a lot, jerk.
I'll still see it, just for Deppy.
-
Great movie, if I do say so myself. The ending is what surprised me the most, so I can't wait for the third one.
-
O.o, well I am just about to go see it, I am excited.
-
Does Luffy make an appearance anywhere in this movie?….
(sarcasm intended)
-
hmmm I want to see this but the asshats put it on when Army of Ghosts and Doomsday are on for Saturday and tonight >.< so I'll guess I'll go when the World Cup Final is on hehe, nobody'll be there, a cinema all to myself.
-
well I just got done seeing the movie and I must say that I wasn’t disappointed. The movie had a great script and the only thing that I hated aboot the movie is that it was like the matrix reloaded, it just makes way for a sequel automatically at the end. Oh well it still was worth the six dollars for the cost of admission.
-

That sort of happened to me. I was reading some information about the third movie and it mentioned something that could only happen at the end of the film.
I intend to see it on sunday, and I'm looking forward to it.
-
Metalvirus…...shouldn't you put that in spoilers? I mean, its not super spoilerific but still..revealing cast(especially one of those) can be a spoiler.
I just can't find the words to describe right now so...I just have to problems.
Other then these two wonderings, I would say this movie is better then the first.! 1. How did Elizabeth get so good at swordplay? 2. How did Barbossa live?
-
Holy hell I am exhausted. I saw it at 12:05am last night (thursday night)
Got home at 3am (had to wake up at 6am to drive dad and then do my job as a camp counselor today)ANYWAYS, I liked the movie a lot. I never found myself bored. The first part had more of a comedy feel to it. Too tired to really type. You should just see the damn movie.
-
I just got back from it ! Absolutely loved it. Did anyone else stay past the credits ?

I thought it was widely known that there were going to be two sequels to Black Pearl O_o; And of course I knew they were going to lead into the 'adventure ain't done YET folks !' ending but holy shit I did not expect spoiler to be the one to take over, at ALL.
Quite pleased ! Also, to lalala:
! 1. Will taught her how to fight with a sword. It's been a while since the first installment, we're meant to assume, I think – probably about a couple years or so
! 2. Remember the monkey at the end of the last movie ? I think the curse is still in effect on Barbarossa; that's how he survived >.> -

and! Am I forgetting something? I can't think of a way the curse could still be in effect of barbarossa. Especially since he was bleeding when Jack shot him.
-
Yes, something did happen after the credits.
! Poochie becomes the new chief of the indian tribe :E
! After the credits of the first movie, Barbarossa's monkey comes and takes one of the Aztec doubloons out of the chest… thus sparking up the curse again. -
I just saw the film and damn was it great. I knew there was going to be a sequel but I didn't think they were going to connect both films the way they did, what with
! Jack being eaten by the Kraken, The East Indian Trading Company seizing Davy Jones' Heart, and most suprisingly was Captain Barbossa's role in finding Jack. Now I already knew he was going to appear in the film but I thought it was going to be some quick unimportant cameo so I was pleasantly suprised.
-
Well, the movie was enjoyable for me, though, I was expecting more. I loved the first movie, cause I loved Jack Sparrow. Such a unique charicter, you don't see much in blockbuster movies.
! I was a tad disapointed in this movie to see he was such a jerk. Being so selfish, abandoning his crew, and womanizing with Elisibeth. I liked it better in the first when he was sneaky and clever, like a fox. Too busy with his flair for adventure to be bothered by women. (he and Elisibeth were marooned on that island all by themselves in the first movie, and he didn't feel the need to put the moves on her.) I like stories better when they stick to adventure, and leave behind all the romance crap. (OP anyone) Maybe this whole thing with Jack is just story builder, (like Usopp's hissy fit in water 7 and then the whole sogeking thing) Maybe Jack will redeem himself for me.
Anywhoo, me being a comedy person, I loved the
! jack sparrow shish ka bob, the 3 way sword fight, and that rediculous wheel, that everyone had to stop fighting, to stare at.
and I just knew there was gonna be something after the credits, but I didn't wanna miss the next bus home. -
The scene after the credits isn't absolutely crucial
It's much more for laughs, unless
! the bone that Poochie was gnawing on was somehow important, which I doubt
-
! the bone that Poochie was gnawing on was somehow important, which I doubt
! Probably the previous chief, so it's really just a good sight gag.
! My guess for Barbossa is less the monkey and more that somebody bothered to go to the World's End for him. He has some experience there, which suggests that he either went there for someone else's sake (unlikely) or somebody else did for him. The witch doctor maybe; that or there was more to Barbossa than meets the eye even before he became an undead pirate.
! I wonder if any of the rest of his crew will pop up.I really liked this one; the major downside to Dead Man's Chest is the realization that it's a whole year until the next one, which should be better as the plot was entirely set up by this one.
-
I will be seeing this. In pirate attire.
-
just got home from seeing it meself….
GREATEST PIRATE MOVIE EVER!!
ok, got that outta my system…
I absolutely enjoyed it! Every minute of it! Perfect balance of comedy and action and great character development!
I found it funny that nearly everyone around me got all upset at the end, I had a huge smile on my face XD
See, usually I'd be upset at an ending that left it open-ended... but in this caes, I am excited for the next one! It was the same thing when I saw Two Towers, the end was pretty good, lead really well into the third movie.
....god I love pirates.
! I was a tad disapointed in this movie to see he was such a jerk. Being so selfish, abandoning his crew, and womanizing with Elisibeth.
well… he is a pirate. XD
-
I really enjoyed the film…definitely offered the romantic pirate swashbuckling fun that I wanted from it.
! I have to say the best part of the entire film was the badass entrance of Barbossa…he just walks down the stairs and takes a huge bite out of his apple with the undead monkey on his shoulder THEN THE MOVIE ENDS. It felt really grand
-
This is definately my favorite movie of the year, it was soooooo good. Lots more comedy this time around, but overall it was really great for me.
! I definately agree about Barbossa's entrance at the end of the movie. I really wasn't expecting it to be honest, it wasn't until right before you see his face that I thought "Maybe…..Barbossa?" and then BAM there he is.
! I dunno if the curse is how he came back, because when they gave Tia Dalma (spelling?) they monkey he ran over to some body, perhaps Tia Dalma had some hand in bringing him back?
