I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but has anyone noticed how the colors red white and black are used. Zoro has three swords one red, one white, and one Black. The three main important pirate crews are the red hairs, the white beard, and the black beard pirates….... this would be alot more convincing if I could find more then two examples, but I ever since reading op have noticed this right off the bat, maybe just me o well.
Red, White, and Black

Luffy has worn both red (Afro Luffy) and black (Enies Lobby) pants.
-
It's more likely that Oda just likes that pattern of colors. Similar to how 7 is almost always used for collectibles in Mario games.
-
You mean like black for WG, white for marine and red for pirates(maybe)??

or just another one of odas little tiny details he wants us to spend hours thinking about @_@

The official colors of the German National Socialist Party (Nazis)
Red, White, and Black.
Coincidence? I hope so.
-
It's Red the color of blood=life
White color of Light
Black color of DarknessMaybe this the meaning but I don't really thing Oda was thing about any meaning when he used those colors

Red, White and Black were also the colors of the German Empire (1871-1918) flag, that's why they used those colors, one must not always compare something with the Nazis.

Black, White, and Red are deep rooted in Alchemy & other literary works as a transition/transformation process, be it literally transmuting lead to gold or transmuting the soul from mundane to enlightened. Its really complicated, but there are symbols & charasterics of each period.
These are just my predictions based off of my VERY basic understanding of the process.
Black -> This is going to be a VERY TOUGH time for the whole crew, and the Blackbeard Pirates are going to be there at every turn harassing the SHs. The crew may want to give up, and someone close to Luffy may actually die (or he may just think he/she dies). In the end they will prevail, but will be exhausted.
White -> Whitebeard is going to pass on all he knows to Luffy. Everyone will get stronger & thrive. In the end Whitebeard will die, and the Strawhats will be prepared for the final challenge.
Red -> The final push for Raftel will pit Luffy vs Shanks. I'm not sure what Shanks' intentions will be, but Luffy will have to beat him to establish himself as the Pirate King
Gold -> The final step of the Alchemical process, the true Philosopher's stone, the final transmutaion from lead to gold, the final step to enlightment. Here the story ends with Luffy becoming the Pirate King, finding One Piece, finding out Gol D. Rogers true purpose & relation.
I know, its all speculation, but look up Alchemy and look up the different phases of transmutation. Its interesting, it even relates to Harry Potter pretty well too (Book 5 - Sirius Black, Book 6 - Albus Dumbledore, Book 7 - ? but the consensus is Rubius Haggrid)

this is kind of a silly thread, but 3 of the 4 horsemen of the apocolypse were colored red, white, and black.
-
Well, the stereotypical pirate flag is white pattern on black field, and I would suppose red is as good as anything else (particularly if the blood symbolism is desired) for a secondary colour. (i. e. Arlong's flag)
Also, I suppose a large number of black and white elements is simply easier for a B&W series, fewer items to hatch/screen/shade.

Well, lets look at the D. clan, shall we?
Puma D. ace: Pumas and Panthers are black.
Marsupial D. Teach: There are several white marsupials, check out the white door-mouse hiding under your couch.
Monkey D. Luffy: Monkeys are red :D.But here's another thing I noticed involving the D.'s; Ace is a Puma/Panther chasing after Teach who is a marsupial. Sound like a game of Cat and Mouse? I don't think Oda did that by accident. So what does the monkey do? Try to eat both of corse! The monkey (Luffy) wants to become king so he needs to eliminate anyone else threatining his position (Teach and Ace are both his enemies).
-
Marsupial? I thought hit was Marshall! Anyway I'll agree Azn Monkey that this is one of those things Oda just stuck in (or more likely it's a coincedence and we're looking to much into it). Oda loves to mess with our heads; in fact he's a member of this thread. Lurking in the shadows….

I doubt it has any meaning at all. Black and white are neutral colors– you're simply going to see these all the time in clothes and so forth. They also show up a in anything involving a Good or an Evil something or other (to wit: Zoro's swords). Red is just a strong, shonen color.
Sometimes it seems every x-men villain ever wears red and purple. This is IMO because red and purple are both regal and yet clash like a mofo, so they make people look like they're on evil power trips. No meaning to it there; and even less meaning to black-white-red here.
Unless you mean the embarassed zebra in the corner...

Franky Family uses black, white and red I think.
