Agreed 100 percent. VF5 has no character whatsoever and it's boring and slow as all hell. Blandest fighting game of all time (and the most ovverated). Give me a Capcom (Third Strike, CVS2), Namco (Tekken, SC) or SNK (KOF11) fighter anyday.

And this tier shit is getting out of hand. Nobody cares, we just wanna have fun playing the game.

I really like those "Holy Shit old character" suprises, too. I liked the Ice Climbers just because of that, even though the Ice Climbers NES game sucked a big one. I'm hoping Nintendo pulls another of those besides Pit, simply because they're fun for nostalgia and great for advertising for them (honestly, how many people would have bought Kid Icarus on the Virtual Console without Pit being in Brawl? I would have, but a lot of people had never heard of it).

The idea of looking through and sifting through tiers and character abilities to balance them or rate them alwyas seemed goofy as hell to me.

Out of my 3 pals I have one who picks based on character skill rather than saying "Hey I want to play this guy because its fucking Link", we beat his ass all the time, its nothing short of poetic.

Fighting games that rely on ridiculous shit for special moves (back back forward down up high kick punch for fireball) lose the whole point of fighting.

If I wanted to go through ridiculous control depth shit no sane person cares about in the middle of a brawl than I'd play, I dunno, a strategy game?

Many people want more to their fighting games than just "Mash A and B until one of you is dead." Won't be getting into this, though.

Hopefully, Sakurai will be smart and keep Fox's Blaster from Melee, so that it doesn't cause any hit stun. Reflector shouldn't cause any knock back, and his Up Smash needs some toning down.

His moves look a lot better, though. Fox Fire doesn't look like pixelated garbage anymore.

Hopefully, Sakurai will be smart and keep Fox's Blaster from Melee, so that it doesn't cause any hit stun. Reflector shouldn't cause any knock back, and his Up Smash needs some toning down.

I can see your points on the Blaster from Melee but no knock back by the Reflector? The hell? The fact that you could knock opponents back with the Reflector at close range is what saved my life in all of those Event Matches I used Fox in. (That and his Down Smash. And a little bit of Fire Fox as well)

As I understand it that's he in his outfit from the DS game.

One thing I notice, from the video people said that fox fights with his blaster out rather then drawing it to shoot. But in the screenshots it's missing.

Edit: Looking again I can see the blaster, so maybe he just puts it away for big attacks?

This is why I'm hardly never playing fighting games, I don't like it when I have to memorize button combos. Which is one the reasons why I like Smash Bros so much: it's dumb easy to remember how to make every single move what the game has to offer –- it's just up to you how well you are able use them.

Awww, I like the knock back thing too. Keep it. Fox's up smash was already tuned down in the Pal version of Melee so...

Unless you want Fox to keep his infinites, Shine strategy, and a spike that can easily kill an opponent with 20% damage, you'll want them to remove the knockback on his Reflector. Trust Gohn on this one.

His Down Smash sucks. Forward Smash beats it in every way possible.

Meh, it works in certain situations actually. And not once since I've used the Reflector's knockback have I gotten that so called spike you and so many people keep telling me about.

At the very least they can just tweak it so it's not so cheap as you say it is but I'd at least like some sort of knockback with Fox's Reflector. Just to keep those, "get in your face and stay that way" types off of my back.

Basically, with the way his Reflector is now, he can waveshine you across the entire state of Final Destination, use it to knock you off the platform, fall down and hit you with it again while you're still in hitstun, grab the edge, then wait for you to try and jump back to spike you with it again. Then, due to his excellent recovery, he simply comes back on the stage. And you just died with less than 50% damage. The fact that his Reflector activates in 1 frame is what makes it ridiculous.

I've never lost to Fox with less than 120% so don't start spewing Reflector complaints when people that create strategies around Fox's Reflector would just laugh at you. The Reflector is a great piece of Fox's techniques but against a skilled player it means nothing.

Even then, look at Fox's damage at some points. These combinations aren't automatic winners by any means. Not that the average player who just wants to have fun playing a fighting game would bother practicing combos like that anyway.

Of course. Such things don't affect the average player one bit.

However, competitive gamers deserve attention, as well. People keep choosing one side or the other, when they really should be realizing that the game should appeal to all players, which is what Sakurai is attempting to do with this release.

This game isn't strictly casual or strictly competitive - it's both. Therefore, all types of players should be able to gain from it, within reason, of course. Not everybody can be catered to.

I completely agree with the "party fighter" side. The most fun I ever have with this game is messing around with friends; there are very few games quite like this that I can think of where when someone is being a cheap asshole, nobody really cares that much, because someone else could easily get a well-timed Warp Star or accidentally connect with a Falcon Punch. In fact, a lot of the fun comes from being a cheap asshole - I remember having a lot of fun that one time I killed a friend using nothing but a paper fan, throwing it at his face and catching it before it hit the ground.

Whenever I watch Youtube videos of so-called "pros" it makes me kind of sad for the game, actually. The fact that the "pros" resort to convoluted tactics and accidental bastard lovechildren of the less-than-perfect physics engine insead of just playing the damn game just seems a little depressing to me, like if you are going to play the game with a stranger you're expected to be fluent in the language of stupid shit.

Oh man the other day I was trying the home run thing, and my pal's sitting there talking about how he got 715 and how great that is, as AS he says this to me I get 735.

What needs to be fixed with Fox is not having him have the worst taunt in the world.

You can have some insanely difficuilt to exploit super whatever combo, but your still playing a gay furry who tells people to "CoME ON!".
The guy playing the giant gorilla with a tie you just beat is still the real winner.
