I have a character in this story that I want to name T.K. and it really fits with the character, but my friend thinks I shouldn't go with it because there was a kid named T.K. in Digimon. Opinions?

Keep the name. It would be like saying nobody can use the name Peter (Spiderman) of Bruce (Batman).

Unless the plot of your story is amazingly similar to that of Digimon, it doesn't matter.
