Phoenix Wright 2: Justice For All

Phoenix Wright fans rejoice, for Capcom has announced that they WILL be releasing a remake of the second Gyakuten Saiban game for the GBA, also called Phoenix Wright Ace Attourny 2: Justice For All. There will be only the 4 cases from the GBA game, unlike in Phoenix Wright 1, which had an DS-exclusive 5th case.

The release date is announced to be the first quarter of 2007.

Some changes from the first game is now that you have a life bar as opposed to the exclamation points and the introduction of the Psycho Lock feature, which will be called "Psyche Lock". People hide some of their secrets under mental lock and key. You have to present evidence to break the locks and find out their secrets.

Also, Capcom announced the English names of Mei Karma, the main prosecutor in GS2 and daughter of Gou Karma/Manfred von Karma and Harumi Ayasato, cousin of Mayoi Ayasato/Maya Fey. They are Franziska von Karma and Pearl Fey, respectfully.

I figured I would mention this since it was one of the big things I was concerned about in E3.

What can I say? I predicted the wrong event happening.

A gameplay clip just showed up using parts of the first case. With this, it has been announced that that Mako Suzuki, the defendant in the first case will be called Maggey Bryde.

This may not seem like much but…

! Part of the first case depends on noticing that her name was spelt wrong in the sand.

The last name for Takamasa Moroheiya, a witness in the first case has also been translated to Wellington.

Not much info right now, but it's a start.

Aren't they restocking with a higher price or something? Well at least up here, I do believe you have to get it ordered in for you at like EB.

Anyways, I can't wait for the second one, I'm not going to sit on my butt like last time and barely get a copy of it. Though I'm sure Capcom will get a nice profit off this because of the giant demand that brought back the first game.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attourny 1 has been stocked in Gamestops and EB Games around here for quite sometime. Most of them used, though. But yes, it is now a little bit easier for everyone who missed the first game to buy it now.

I wish I had some more news from E3 to accompany this post, but alas, nothing.

Of course, the good news is that now there is a big chance that the third game will be released some time after the second one. Which uses the same lifebar and Psycho Lock idea from the second game and 5 cases on it's own.

Just finnished PH:AA and I lust for more. Is the game really that hard to find? Play-Asia is selling it for 30 bucks, there I got my baby too. But I import most of my DS games anyway. It's cheaper. European prices… shivers

With two more of these coming out - the second and the forth - and possibly the third one too, I couldn't be happier. I just don't get how it takes so long for them to put out the second one if they won't add any new content.

Actually Phoenix Wright originally came out on the GBA. The Sequel to Ace Attorney will be for the DS and will contain the original GBA Court Cases.

As a real attorney the case REALLY matters, someones future or sometimes even life is in your hands and if you fail you could ruin them for ever or they could die even if they're innocent. Not only that, being a real attorney doesn't have the occasional strange humor PW has. Also, as a real attorney you just take the evidence and use it you don't go out and find your own. Let me put it this way, a real attorney is real and matters where as in PW its just something to do for fun that doesn't take years of work and theres no pressure of knowing someone is depending on you.

Real attorneys understand the pressures riding upon their success and they cope with it. A prospective lawyer who cannot either doesn't make it in law school or stops being an attorney.
Real law firms can be just as funny as depicted in the game. Personally, I think Phoenix Wright is more funny because office life can be funny. That's not to say it isn't serious, either; people can just have fun with their job.
Lawyers do personal investigations. Since modern police cannot investigate crack, lawyers need to take the aquisition of evidence into their own hands.

I think any game based on a sport or career is pretty dumb, as playing a game is not as healthy as actually engaging in the respective sport or even "pretending" to be a lawyer in a Mock Trial.

Phoenix Wright is OK though, since it's spawned so many funny memes and crack.

Maybe for you the real thing is more fun, but for me and I'd guess most people it's just stressful, so having a game show what the area is like just a little bit can let everyone enjoy it. Last time I checked, marketing a game to only people that want to be lawyers is equal to feeding your money to a komodo dragon. The same applies for all flight simulators, street racing games, and the game Trauma Center: Under the Knife. Is it more fun/rewarding to actually BE a pilot or racer or doctor? Probably, if you're the right kind of guy. But I, for one, and afraid of heights, have shite reflexes, and have extremely shaky hands, making me hate having any of those jobs, yet I love those kinds of games.

I guess my point is being a real lawyer may be better, but only to a person that has what it takes. For the rest of us without such qualities, I suspect the consensus will be that the simulation is more fun.

Oh, and Carter, how did you find out how awesome Godot is? Just read things about him or something? And I really liked Edgeworth, but von Karma's wall smashing was good enough to make me like him better.

I figured as much - just wanted to ask because there are a lot of people that seem to know a lot about him but that don't know Japanese. I thought maybe I was missing a translation or something. And I totally agree, I have a friend with Gyakuten Saiban 3 who showed me him, and every time that Godot shatters that coffee mug in a fit of rage I get a little happier on the inside.

Also, for anyone who hasn't gotten it yet, Phoenix Wright 1 just got reprinted again so Amazon has it up for preorder. I'm pretty glad I didn't cave and pay upwards of 60 bucks for it now.

Medicine, piloting, and racing are not professions for everyone and frankly it's tough to break into such careers. But "practicing" law is as easy as phoning the Constitutional Rights Foundation and asking for this year's Mock Trial materials.

The truth is, life is full of pressures. While playing a game might be enoying, it won't teach you even the smallest of life skills, whereas participating in a practice trial is fairly easy to do and it benefits you in some way, accomplishing essentially the same sort of entertainment value. The same applies to sports like basketball, football, and baseball; why would any "fan" play those games when he or she could do the real thing?

If you simply like games more than law, just say so; that makes things much more easier.
