Did I mention how pissed off I am that they are mini games and not walk around the island!!
One Piece: Grand Adventure
-
-
Wow… it sounds like this game has some of the music from Grand Battle 2. Let's hope some more of the roster of that game makes it here...
-
I just noticed the topic title was changed…
Anyways I heard there was some new info/screens in the U.S. Shonen Jump. Does anyone have it?
You mean the one that states that "Trace" ate the Gum Gum Fruit? :getlost:
Yeah, I have it.
-
Hey guys, IGN.com has some new info on this game as well as 4 new videos.
Judging from the video that showcases Buggy vs. Arlong, it seems you have to get a new item (Den Den Mushi) in order to summon Support characters, instead of holding L and pressing B twice, or whatever it was for the PS2 version.
-

You shouldn't have gotten your hopes up…
It seems like the AI still sucks... >_> I saw Zoro run up to the Marines and they didn't do anything! D:
-
Yeah that computer in those videos sucked. If I were zoro tatsumaki would be all I need to destory those guys.
When luffy was facing buggy he could have done gomu gomu no bazooka so many times.
You should have still been able to walk around to point a/b or whatever, grrr
-
Yeah, the person playing was also bad… Maybe trying to hide the fact that the AI sucks... >_> XD
I agree about the walking thing, but what can you do? I was expecting the minigames, actually. XD
-
Yeah, I also noticed that in the latest shonen jump that it said "Trace" has the same powers as the Gum-Gum Fruit… what are they smoking?
Ugh, no free roam. That's a downer.
-
Not to mention this games looks and sounds alot, alot like Grand Battle… as in has almost all the same sound clips... That's effort right there.
-
Eh, what did you expect? Like GBR, it's the previous GB with more characters, stages, and a better system and a new mode. >_>
-
I'm just saying hopefully it's a bigger step up than it looks like here.
I am also hoping for smarter AI but meh…
-
Eh, comapring to the dub… 50% more characters, at least 50% more stages, and also the system is changed a little so it looks like bars can be changed in length, and also more minigames and an adventure mode! That seems like a huge step already... >_> Even compared to RUSH!, it's a bit more than 25% more characters and 25% more stages, and also the new modes and system...
And yeah, the AI is kind of stupid... Probably to make up for its cheapness sometimes... I wish they actually used specials, or were at least decent in general... >_>
-
It's.. erm, interesting to hear music from GB2. I am 90% sure that Fusha Village is still Fusha Village, but apparently some part of it is called Mustard Village.
Looks like you can't stop Mr. 4's bat unless you go on top of the person and attack from above.
And, new costumes are great. I love new costumes.
-
Simple. They decided to use Fuschia village's setting as the battle area, where as these villages you go to simply have a name change.
-
Eh, in US GB, it was still Fusha Village, IIRC…
And can't you stop the bat by throwing items or using a long-range attack? Guarding might stop it... Maybe they should make guarding less godly... As in stop everything but guard-break and attack boost... >_>;
-
Isn't that the point of Guarding?
-
Eh, in US GB, it was still Fusha Village, IIRC…
All I'm saying that the stage they're playing in is still Fusha village. It's probable that that will be the generic village stage, with names like "Mustard Village" one point from another
-
Sounds like this game just got less interesting, no? Oh, my bad, I thought this was about the topic on the Wii game.
I am not really surprised in this case. Nevermind.
-
I just noticed fusha village is called windmill village
-
…uhh...where? In both versions, didn't the sign say, in English, Fusha Villiage? I'll go check Rush if I'm wrong...
-
I repeat. They use different names for the villages, but the area of fighting is always known as "fusha village"
-
Oh… I wonder why that is... Maybe Bandai was too lazy to edit the sign, like they were too lazy to edit more than 2 cigars for Smoker, the kanji in random places, cleavage, and the marines... Although that's all good for us. XD
Isn't that the point of Guarding?
My point is that's it's too overpowered… >> It literally blocks everything but items, grabs, and guard break... >> Not even Strong attacks, or a barrage of attacks can penetrate it... D:
-

In ASJ, in the chapter where Luffy got his 30 millions bounty, they called it Windmill Village.
-

But even in the original street fighter the only way to break guard was to throw someone or (if they were ducking) use an overhead attack or some jumping attacks. The fact that you have 3 methods of breaking the guard in Grand Battle is gracious on the part of the developers.
If I'm not mistaken you can also hit a guarding foe in this game by hitting them in their back. Last I played a person can only dash forward while guarding, so their back is unprotected.
EDIT: I meant to reply to kryptonite's post.
-
So get the sword item and quit complaining

_> Jumping attacks do nothing!
And also, attacking the back doesn't work. XD The character simply flips around, guarding…
So get the sword item and quit complaining
_> They're so everywhere.
Anyways, I'm not complaining… I just put out a suggestion... ;_;
-
Sorry if I came off overbearing.
Still after playing the game a bit more a couple of minutes ago, I'd say the Secret attacks (as if that's a surprise…) and throws were more overpowered. Sure it's difficult to hit with some secret attacks, but once they do... that health. And the thing with throws are I can never seem to pull one off, but the computer is able to with such ease. I guess there's no real problem with them, but a throw break or perhaps some way to recover immediately after being thrown would help make it less unbalanced.
-
It's okay. :E
Oh yeah! That too! I was extremely pissed when my friend, who had no health, and I had 70% health, was constantly spamming his special with Kuro (who teleports out of the way, so you can't hit him if he's too far away when teleporting), and it managed to hit me and I lost. -_- Guarding works, but if you have a Crystal/Attack thing, it guard breaks. XD
I think throws are fine, because only the computer can throw like that… XD If you've seen the video of Buggy vs. Arlong where Arlong spams Shark on Darts continuously... >_> No human can do that... I short-jump to make Zoro's Jump + A/X and Smoker's Jump + X/O actually useful, but that... XD
-
ign just posted new videos and looks good lot better than battle
-
http://media.cube.ign.com/media/825/825976/vids_1.html
New videos. Bringing up the total to 10. Anyways, it seems there are 10 stages, each with a day-night version and they also play different (from what I saw).
The intro… Is not the rap, thank goodness, but... It's also not with animated clips. Just game clips put together to fit the song playing. Oh, and I guess we got "Chaser" sorta rapping.... Have no idea why.
But hmm... it does show some specials in the intro... The new ones I've catched...
Vivi seems to attack with a long-fury of peacock slashers.
(Tr)Ace attacks with Fire Fist and burns up the boats (like in the show).
Wapol seems to use his Super-Gun-Thing
Oh, and I could'a sworn I saw Luffy using Gum-Gum Cannon on Crocodile.
-
Wow, those videos are sweet! And that intro…is really really cool! Except for ahem..."Chaser" singing. Aw man, I want this. Should I go ahead and get the English Version, or wait and see if there is a Japanese one? I really cant decide. And...oh god. I need to turn it on mute when getting characters now. Them singing, "It'll be a Grand Battle" is really gay.
-
Hmm, a couple of comments and speculations. This is shaping up to be like a Grand Battle 2/Rush collaboration. Now we just need Carue to be playable.
Ooo details. This one looks like it's from Skypiea when Luffy was inside the snake. I wonder if it was intentional or just his shirt going through his skin.
Well… Groggy Ring, with bigger hoops (I think), and taking place on an unknown ship.
Foxy pirates everywhere here, too. I wonder if that ship over there has any significance. Who would've thought that you can pair up Piiman and Don Krieg on Porche's Beauty Wagon.
Afro Luffy's special on Sexy Foxy! Except.. some stuff in the background seems to be missing.
Yeah, this is the Cannon move.
Boom! Er, well, interesting, seeing that this move doesn't appear till Water 7. Hmm, didn't see any Skypiea-ish things in the video yet. I wonder if Enel will be near-impossible to unlock. -
Yeah luffy did do gomu gomy no cannon. I really like vivi's special too. My guess on a a japanese version. Yes. When? March 2007. Theres a new grand battle game every two years. Hopefully it will feature water 7. I really wish they werent mini games ;-;.
Though one thing for sure
"It'll be a grand battle"
hahaha
edit: Also dorry or broggy I forget which in the sanji video appears on foxy's stage in the stage list. Kids will be going "Who the hell is that guy?" bwhaha
-
Giants in the game? I'll have to rewatch the videos…..
Edit: I SAW BROGGY! yeah you can spot him on one of the stage select circles, hmm....Little Garden stage I suppose, lol poor dubbies not knowing what's going on
Anywho, my bet is that Luffy has been given Afro Luffy's moves just as a way of giving him more attacks (either that or as a new Special attack instead of resuing the Alabasta themed one they used before)
The new intro....will we be hearing that Smoker rap song in the show anytime soon I wonder? The melody is actually quite nice if you ask me.
Vivi's special looks pretty cool with all the peacock slashers around.
And I think in the intro it looks like Tashigi's special might involve marines showing up with guns to help her (seems plausible considering random marine is her support)
I can't wait to see Enel and whoever the remaining 2 characters are. (come ooooooon Wiper)
Seems like when choosing supports, there's an option to use any support character. But that didn't always show up...perhaps you have to earn that feature, or maybe it only works in certain modes.
With the addition of Adventure Mode, more mini-games, waaaay more characters (playable and supports) and unlockables, better sounding music, slightly improved battle system, slightly improved graphics (small difference but still noticeable AND welcome), overall better presentation and production values, it looks to me like Bandai is delivering a quality game that's worth buying even if you already bought Grand Battle.
Hopefully future One Piece video games will be given this kind of treatment as well.
-
Okay, that game looks actually good. I watched all the videos.
I never got Grand Battle so just tell me now. If I were to get one of the games would this one be the better choice over Grand Battle?
-

YES!
This is basically Grand Battle plus tons of extras, new stuff, and overall better-ness
-
Alright then. Who knows, I might be able to get it for Christmas. It'll be my first OP console game.
-
Yeah, pretty much. This takes Grand Battle, and seems to improve on it.
-
Gamespot has 4 new screens in the PS2 versions section of the site. Nothing spectacular BUT does Nami have a new tornado themed attack? I've never seen her do a move like that before.
-
Have no idea. Maybe a big cyclone tempo. The shots are also at IGN.
Anyways, if you looks closely at the opening… You'll see Usopp in his Skypeia gear. Yipee!!
-
Apparently, Ace, Robin, Shanks, Mihawk, Smoker, Zeff, Enel and Bon Clay are not going to be available from the start, if you look at the last video on the first page.
-
I heard this game is going to have an European version maybe the European version will be uncut (althought I think with will be the same as the US just for PAL)
I confirmed this Atari is going to bring the game to Europe (but no more information available yet)
Anyways is this game any good to give as a x-mas gift to a kid, or should I wait and get a japanese version ?

As of right now, the game is a US exculsive game; so buy the American version naturally. And yes, it's most likely than not a good gift for a kid (or any One Piece fan).
-
…The person using Zoro was really bad. XD Mariejois is now bigger, with three levels.
WOAHTF!!! SO MANY STAGES!!! @_@
This rap > normal rap, but it's still rap, and therefore crap. >_>
LOL!
Sanji: I'm about to do my kicks.
Zoro: Who are you?I think there's too much rap. XD
-
The first picture up there is Shanks' secret move, Great Pirate Party.
-
There are 4 question marks for I guess super secret chracters. One is Cheff Zeff and the other God Enel. Who do you guys think are the other two?
I say Wiper and Ohm, possibly Gon Fall or Foxy.
-
I'm hoping Wiper and Ohm…
Is Afro Luffy in the game?
Costume 1 is normal...
Costume 2 is Pirate King Jacket...
Costume 3 hasn't been shown, IIRC...
Costume 4 is the dark outfit...
Costume 5 is recolor of costume 1... >_>Do the other Strawhats have lots of costumes? Zoro's second one is... a recolor. Same with Sanji's...
-
There isn't any gaurentee on Afro Luffy until we see Foxy in the game imho. And I think all the characters have Skypiea outfits plus regular outfits and others.
-
Hopefully…
However, Luffy's Skypeia costume is almost the same as normal... They might include the ugly baseball one, then... >_>
-
They've shown Robin in a kimono and Chopper in a santa outfit so I'd assume there's more costumes than just recolors.
I hope they've got Alabasta and Skypiea costumes for ALL Strawhats.
The other 2 characters ehh….
Wiper I think would make alot of sense, with Laki and those others as his supports. (Maybe Aisa, I dunno what she'd do but Conis is also a support and I can't think of anything she'd do either)
Bellamy would rock, with Sarquiss as his support obviously.
Other possible characters, 1 of the Priests, Hina, Gan Fall, Alvida.
I'm getting more itnerested in the support characters actually, just because there's like 50 and that means more possibilities.
Let's see...... after doing that math, there's 11 new supports that haven't been revealed.
