So yeah, DN is ending on 108th chapter. 108 is pretty interesting number; it represents 108 worldly desires and in Japan, we hit bells in temple in the new year's eve to kill those desires... In Buddhist way, those worldly desires are problem that lies on your heart. ... Or something.

So DN-wise, those chapters were built to kill Light's selfish desires...???

So this really is the finale. No new story coming…can't way to see it play out.

And hooray for an anime version! I was afraid the only adaptation of the series would be the bad live action movie.

And AN ANIME ADAPTATION =D I hope they follow the manga to the letter just like the monster anime. At least something to look forward to now that Death Note is ending..

That'll most likely be the case since the manga has had its run.

Ending huh. Maybe the whole story was planned out by Ohba the whole time. Hopefully he'll go out with a bang. And hopefully he won't give in to fans who say "MORE MORE" like Toriyama did.

Even though people say Death Note declined at a certain point that is a spoiler. I say it should end now and stay a classic. Some manga don't do that and just get worse and worse.

Well replace 'fans' with 'editors' and 'binding agreements' and you're on the right track. Yes fans were vocal but Toriyama never 'gave in' to anyone except those who basically held his job/reputation in their hands.

Remember his comment about killing characters. If fans begged him not to kill someone, he'd go ahead and do it. ((not that it ultimately mattered in that series anyway))

I know how you feel. My boyfriend semi-accidentally spoiled the end. I thought I was going to kill him for it… (I'd only just started to read the second arc) But I still want to go ahead and read it any way, just to see how everything gets up to that point.

On another note, I hope the anime has a decent adaptation...I've always wanted to do a Death Note music video

I'm on the same boat. I haven't read since Mikami came into the picture and now I dunno how the heck I'm gonna catch back up. Maybe I'll just stoptazmo it or something ?

I wonder what kind of game Death Note would be?

I bet it's an adventure game simular to Monkey Island (in mechanics, not comedic script), Shadowgate, or Deja Vu.

I also hope to either play as Light or has an alternative ending to the series. Just for kicks.

I thought they weren't doing an animated series and instead opting for the live action movie (which looks friggin' sweet, regardless.)

I was hovering around Mixi and somebody said it might replace Nana anime, whose author got angry because it was far different from the manga. So since they screwed up once, would they try to make this one better? … Well, only if it'll be done by same production, I mean...
