If you haven't been watching the Colbert Report, then you're missing some of the best satire out there. Last night, he hosted the White House Correspondent's Dinner. Turns out that he has bigger balls that the rest of the media in this country combined.

i thought he was a democrat (i am only watching part 1 for now). I thought he was. I loved the rocky anology lol

I'm reminded of this from a decade ago.

Hoooooooooooooly fucking shit. That was hillarious.

@omae:

From the quotes I read there, Imus mainly took shots at specific targets and basically used stand-up comedian material. It's similar, but Imus was nowhere near as brutal in his remarks as Colbert; while Don's were more "edgy", Colbert just hammered everybody in a way that was so subtle that it was blatantly obvious at the same time.
Making Clinton, Gringrich, or [Insert Famous Name] jokes is nowhere near as cutting to everybody in the room as:
But the rest of you, what are you thinking, reporting on NSA wiretapping or secret prisons in eastern Europe? Those things are secret for a very important reason: they're super depressing. And if that's your goal, well, misery accomplished. Over the last five years, you people were so good over tax cuts, WMD intelligence, the effect of global warming. We Americans didn't want to know, and you had the courtesy not to try to find out. Those were good times, as far as we knew. But, listen, let's review the rules. Here's how it works: the president makes decisions. He's the decider. The press secretary announces those decisions, and you people of the press type those decisions down. Make, announce, type. Put them through a spell check and go home. Get to know your family again. Make love to your wife. Write that novel you got kicking around in your head. You know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration. You know…fiction.

I'm pretty sure he is a democrat (I remember a time when he hosted the Daily Show he mentioned being a registered democrat.) but his act is more or less a parody of Right Wing talk show hosts (especially O'reilly). Although I haven't seen the video.

Yeeeeah, I'm pretty much reminded of what happened 10 years ago. People just got used to that humor. Now they'll get used to this.
Like back when South Park had people up in arms over little boys who said 'bitch'.

That was beautiful. I couldn't laugh even though it was hilarious, I was just floored by it. Agreed about the Rocky story, it was fantastic. It would have ruined it, if all his snipes were solely at Bush. Although, he was giving him the roundabout compliments. "From the gut…" That was awesome.
EDIT: Just saw the part 2 press secretary audition tape...pure gold.

I can't watch them right now (because I'm at home and have a slower connection than usual) but I like Colbert.
