There's always all kinds of color misconceptions. I thought Franky would be blond and wear a blue shirt. It's hard for me to even think that way anymore now that I'm so used to his coloring. I also thought Sogeking's mask would be white with blue trim and the cape would be black.
I thought that Gonbe(sp?) the rabbit was a DF user and would help out Luffy and Zoro when they got stuck before aqua laguna..
I thought Gonbe was a pokemon at first. If you look at him in his first appearance, he looks like a homage to the Snorlax pre-evolution.
I predicted that Usopp would be fighting Kaku 1v1 because of the Merry
Well, that hasn't exactly been proven wrong yet…
back when i first got the HK's, I had thought that Luffy and Smoker's fight would continue into the next boxset… well, that obviously didn't happen. ^^ guess i thought Smoker was more of an important character.
I'm going to laugh if Franky is not the new crewmember. but hey, I've gotten used to the idea of him being a mugiwara honestly.

I think Smoker's true importance is yet to be revealed. Perhaps he'll even be one of the few marines who ends up at Luffy's side in some big-ass fight. (I don't realy believe this myself, but I guess that if there is one powerful marine who'd side up with Luffy, it'd be him)

When I first started looking around this forum, I had just caught up with the current One Piece chapters. The chapter at which I caught up to the series is the one with the color spread of the Strawhat crew on a train. I had a feeling that, after the Going Merry was found to be unfixable, I thought the train would be their new traveling vessel.
Also, when Franky was first introduced with his mask off at the end of one of the chapters, there was a lot of speculation on who was behind the mask. Some very impressive speculations were made and, although they turned out wrong, I was nearly convinced that Franky was actually Don Krieg having rebuilt his reputation as a masked man in Water 7 with a new crew.
Lastly, although it has not been disproven yet, I had a Klabautermann theory that I have largely forsaken. The idea was that either Franky or Paulie would die in the battle with CP9 and become the Klabautermann for the Strawhat crew's new ship. Meanwhile, the survivor from the CP9 battle would become the new crewmember. In this way, boith men would join the crew, but in different ways. Like I said, it hasn't been disproven, but it is highly unlikely at this point in the story.

Quite a few people believed that the arc after Enies Lobby would be Impel Down because the SH lost to the Marines.
I recall strangely speculating that Hittori would be the one controlling Lucci, like Luffy once said in W7
and the straw hats defeating the Buster Call
A lot of people were speculating that the final blow to Lucci would knock him into the Gate of Justice, knocking them open.
I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

You just can't trust anyone these days.
As for wrong guesses, I speculated that Thriller Bark would be a haunted theme park (because I saw it spelled as 'Thriller Park'.)
I also speculated that Moria would have a Window Fruit, so he could absorb any type of light and turn it into sunlight in order to vaporise those who he had stolen shadows from.
And I remember speculating that Nami, Usopp and Chopper would catch on to the fact Hogback was a bad guy faster than that. I mean, come on- after the Water Seven Betrayal, you'd think they'd have learned to be cautious.
Oh, and speculating that Brook was a bad guy, which has not entirely been proved wrong yet.

I was 110% sure that The Moria Pirates were the ones that'd killed Brooks crew.
I was 90% sure Franky would be a villain.
And I was 80% sure the Merry would break during the Luffy vs. Usopp fight.
Oh, and I always had a feeling Aokiji would show up at the gates of justice - only to kick some icy ass.
I and a few other people thought that Moria's bounty would be higher then Donflamingo's, but no. It's 20 mill less.
why would it be higher then Doflamingos? i never got that part…
I thought Luffy would die in Enies Lobby. And thus end One Piece, as many people was hoping for.
I thought that the one who stole shadows would be a monster or ghost.

Well I'm currently hopeing Perona would join the crew. It would be sweet if she did…thouhg I know I could be very very wrong...theres still hope!
Oh, I once thought the SHs would all get captured in a BC ship, then be surprised to see Bon Kurei there. And they'll escape, of course.

1. Absalom would be revealed as the main villain
2. Brooks and Ryuma were former crewmates
Also, when Blackbeard's DF power was revealed in chp. 440, I thought it would work just like the power that Moria's DF has.
I (now) find it hilarious how a lot of people thought that luffy would go into the current with a barrel that was near the so that he could go to the gate of justice. But gonbe and Chimmney showed him the underground tunnel.

1. Lucci, Iceburg or Paulie would join the crew
2. Franky would be the main villain
3. Usopp was really Kaku
4. Usopp would stay as Sogeking for rest of OP
5. Kaku was Usopp's brother
6. Kaku would fight Usopp
7. Wiper would join the crew
8. Conis would join the crew
9. Chef Zeff was Sanji's Dad
10. Foxy had a Fox Zoan Fruit
11. Foxy was a shichibukai (please dont ask(
12. Hamburg, pickles etc. had devil fruts that related to their names.
That the next crewmember would be a sexy female ninja…although this could still be true if brook doesn't join

I was glad Gold Roger was not his grandfather and I use to think Saul was Luffy's grandfather. Garp being Luffy's grandfather really shocked me, Garp simply showed up in the series and it was shocking thay he just simply walks in and say that he is Luffy's grandfather.
Let's not forget some of the weirder ones people thought of:
1. Blackbeard stole Brooke's shadow.

Laboon to save the strawhats from EL is a very nice one! But now, the problem is: how he (she?) would have known it?
I thought Saulo was Luffy's grandfather, and there'd be some kind of big ordeal about that between Luffy, Robin, and Aokiji that revealed a ton of plot.
I also thought Thriller Bark was a floating amusement park :(
I thought that Kaku would fight with throwing knives (at deadly accuracy) to live up to his "Mountain Wind" nickname, and probably fight against Usopp/Sogeking.
I thought Kaku was secretly a good guy in CP9 and would aid the Mugiwaras in getting Robin back, and so forth.
I thought Spandam would die a bloody, bloody death.
I thought Paulie had eaten a Rope Rope fruit :P
I also thought Robin was actually going to be a villain in the Water 7 arc.
For some reason, I had this idea that Vivi was going to suddenly have some super uber fighting skill of some sort, and jump off the shore and land on the ship when the rest of the crew showed her their X marks… =_=; Not what I wanted, really, but I had a feeling it was going to happen.
I thought Blueno was completely and utterly insignificant.
I thought they were going to reveal the name of the Ancient Country to be Raftel...
I thought that Sanji was going to keep up his "Mr. Prince" act for the rest of One Piece.
I thought that Sogeking was some old creepy man disguising himself as Usopp before I'd caught up... XD;

I Only remember the debate about franky vs paulie, that which one would join… man i clearly remember saying it would be 100% paulie... man....

Ditto, and for Gear 3 he compresses himself to become stronger, like how a folded rubber band usually does more damage.
And then there were people who firmly believed Franky would not join (not me!). I wonder what those people are up to now.
