Who would you want it to be and what questions do you want to ask?
For me, I'd wait for Marc Diraison and David Moo (hear me out)
I'd ask Diraison many questions on 4Kids and why he chose to do a role for them when he's known as Guts, one of the most badass charcters in manga and anime.
As for Moo, I'll ask him, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT VOICE FOR SANJI!?
I'm sure Moo would get a lot of that "Your voice is not even close to the original Sanji" if he were here…..
And if Jason Griffenth were here, he'd probably get "Why did you make Usopp sound like a pansy!?"
Personally, I wouldn't snap at any dub actors. You guys have to realize, and me making a fandub I understand this. Voice actors even if they make crappy voices work hard and put their time into the matter, sure, they can improve but everyone can improve.
For all we know 4kids basicly is telling them to use that set of voice and they may WANT to change their tone.

Well, it depends on who it is. I really can't think of anything good to say to David Moo. But as much as I don't like Jason Griffith's Usopp voice, I'd actually like to talk to him a bit. Of course Marc Diraison would be cool to talk to. And I'd tell Erica Shroeder to try not screaming so much as Luffy >_< I wish she would listen to Tanaka and get some inspiration.
If it were Moo or Griffenth i'd probably give them the benefit of the doubt that it was the Voice Directors and not the actors themselves that made them act that way. If it were some of the other actors, say, the girl who does Nami or Vivi i'd probably tear them and their flat acting apart.

Of course, going in the direction of the last couple of posts, I think if you all want to chew out anyone, I say try to bring the voice director(s) of the show here to this forum. As jadiesama said, I'd give all the actors the benefit of the doubt.
If Veronica Taylor came on here, I'd probably ask her why 4Kids told her to use a Southern accent for Robin. As for Jason Griffith, why they made him sound like Sonic going through puberty. He probably could do a better Usopp if they had a more competent voice director.

Folks have to remember, alot of the issues we have with the actors stems fromt he voice directors, not the actors themselves.
and David Moo being sanji is not his fault, it's the casting director for having the insanity to think Moo would be good as our favorite love-chef.

I agree but the point of 4kids is to localize it to the point that it is seriously hard to tell that it even originated from Japan. Also the drive for almighty dollar over actual quality is what dictates the direction of this show in america

The bad voices have nothing to do with localization. It's just the way 4Kids does things, because they think kids like goofy voices. There's tons of American shows between Nicktoons, WB, and CN and others that do voices that aren't over-the-top caracatures.
I seriously doubt they'd join after seeing thread titles such as 4KIDS4SHAME and The Alabasta Disasta, although I could see the latter being in the script, but that's a different matter.
I'd like to ask Jason Griffith to sound a bit more like the original Sonic from SA2 Battle. As for Usopp, I'll just ask him to make him sound more mature and not so cowardly all the time. And also ask him if 4Kids is over using him and how he's treated over there.

Which makes no sense because Usopp is a pansy most of the time, and sounds like one most of the time. So I have no problem with a voice actor who portrays him that way, even if it's a tad lazy.
That Sanji though…that's not even close. I'm honestly surprised Sanji doesn't sound like a French Waiter. Because that's so much what his character appears to be at first.

Marc Diraison is one of the few good VAs OP has. There are a few others that show emotion, about half a dozen that fit the characters, and maybe a dozen that don't sound like a stereotype. Luffy sounds like a retard when he's always yelling. Nami is okay at times, but other times she sounds like a whiney bitch. Zoro's VA pwns. Sanji's is horrible, and doesn't fit the charcter at all. Usopp's would be good if he didn't cry after every line and didn't change his voice pitch every other word. Choppers VA is decent, and Robin's would be fine if che dropped the accent. There are several VAs that have good voices, but need to lose one of the details, like Robin's southern accent or Luffy's screaming. Then you have VAs like David Moo, who should have never been casted. Maybe if we got all the VAs to watch the subs they'd be more enthusiastic in their parts. Marc Diraison is the only one who'd participate (or already has, if he signs his autographs "Zoro")
If they showed the One Piece US dub actors the original One Piece, they'd wanna dub the original.

Yeah, Dan Green is esentially 4kids' bitch. I mean, look at how many characters he plays on Shaman King! And almost all his characters in 4kids' shows use the same Yami-Yugi tone. It's like some form of cross-promotion, its annoying!

I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the voice actors (specifically Marc Diraison) read the forums, but wouldn't want to join (at least not under their own name) because of the general contempt for the dub here. Sure, the contempt is well-placed, but people will ask the voice actor tough questions and try to get the actor to bad-mouth the dub that could end up causing the voice actor to lose his/her job. If I was a voice actor for the OP dub, even a good one like Marc, I would be scared to death of coming here. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if 4Kids kept all of their VAs on leashes and beat them if they tried to talk with any fans of the original versions of their properties.
For any One Piece actor, I'd try to stop myself from killing the bad ones like David Moo and try to ask questions so I can empathize with him. If we could… we could like get a moderated forum where members could speak to the voice actors... any bad posts made won't even go through. But it's a rather meek chance one actor would join this place... :(
On a side note, I tried fandubbing thing, after it took me like 5 hours just to get 10 minutes done, I quit. XD

and there lies the point though. all of the one piece voices has something to do with an americans dilect. maybe not all of them but most of them are plays off diffrent sterotype. namie's is the typical vally girl. ussop is that kid you always knew in high school that he was a liar and sanji is…well i guess you can call that a overly bad italian newyork-ish type voice. they said that they want to make it more of our caulture then the origanl cause kids don't know what"anime" is:dry: but most other companies are ok with translating them in there origanal formate and even get voice actors to do there best to imatae the orginals( funimation with fullmetal and viz with inuyasha) hell even the dragonballz dubs near the end of the run has better voice acting then op dubs are(of course they have all grown with the characters and made the voices almost truely acceptable) but hey thats 4kids.
I think it would depend on what the VA had to say.
If he was just going to be a corporate mouthpiece, we're not that easily impressed. Pretty much the only thing which would make us tolerate the dub would be Oda-sensei himself putting his mark of approval on it, which would result in many threads "Who spiked Oda's crack?".
If he provided insight on the dubbing process, it might make for interesting reading.
Actually I used to post on a Sonic forum, and the man who voices Eggman (Mike something) for the (then) Dub was a frequent poster. He had his own thread for people to ask him questions but refused to answer to much information about future episodes. He was aware that the fans downloaded RAWs and subs but said he wouldn't report them. He seemed like a good guy though I rarely had contact with him.
I kinda hope Marc Diraison would join so something simular could be done here. One question I wanted to ask Mike was his views on "over censoring", and generally cutting a series that could be better suited as a show for more mature fans (never did get around to it). If Marc posted here I'd like to hear his views on that, especally since he's a fan of the original version.

Actually, we just got Skip, the VA for Gai, over at the NarutoFan Forums. That makes 7 VAs. We've got Kyle Hebert, VA of Kiba; Liam O'Brian, VA for Gaara; Steve Blum, VA for Zabuza/Orochimaru; Maile Flanagan, VA for Naruto; Skip (forgot-last-name), VA for Gai; Robbie Rist, VA for Chouji; and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, VA for Kurenai/Grass-ninja Orochimaru, as well as the director of the Naruto dub.
I've been monitoring these forums for the past few months, and I've finally decided to join. Yes, it would be very interesting if a VA from OP joined these forums… though, after reading the Alabasta Disasta' Thread, I wouldn't be surprised if they get driven away by oo many negative comments. I'ld have to say that, so far, I'm enjoying Zolo, Nami, and Chopper's voices the best, and honestly, I don't think Luffy's is all that bad. The laugh... the Woody Woodpecker laugh... just scares me... :sad:

Heh, am not surprised Kyle joined over there. He pretty much more a fan of anime then an employee of it. I should know by his apperences at the anime cons down here, he even showed up for a little unoffical mini con too. Nice guy.
But back on topic, yeah am pretty sure if the VAs made themselves know they'll be nonestop questions as to why 4KIDs do what they did not to mention some rather unsavory comments. Am sure their nice people and their trying their best with what they have to work with. But against fans who know the real One Piece, that'll be like leading lambs to slaughter.
I went to the USA for Easter and got the chance to see a few One Piece episodes from the Buggy arc, I feel sorry for Marc Diraison he really sounds like he's pushing himself to say some of the worst lines I've ever heard in a dub.
But IF a VA came along, I would like some questions answered, because even if most of these guys are bitches for 4KIDS, they would have SOME input when it comes to characterisation…and that's where David Moo is going down

You'd have to restrain me from killing David Moo. Seriously. Xellos and Sanji are both favourite characters of mine. Cho Hakkai of Saiyuki shares the same Jap VA as Xellos and he's voiced decently. Gaara shares Akira Ishida's talent as well, but I have yet to hear his dub voice and I'm almost scared to.

It would have been excellent if they did that, but as has been stated many times, 4Kids want to appeal to just the kids rather than the kids AND the fans.
At times I wish Viz had the rights to One Piece and 4Kids to Naruto (just to really piss off the Narutards :happy: ).

Also…I would like to see VA from others languages show up here...maybe not the japanese (that would...well, too much^^) but there seem to be many, also decent, verions of OP all around the world.
I, being used to the german dub, would love to talk to some of their VAs, especially Dirk Meyer, Hubertus von Lerchenfeld, Simone Brahmann and Guido Hoegel.
I'd tell Luffy, Zoro, and Nami's VAs they're doing good jobs.
I'd tell Ussop, Chopper, and Robin's VAs that they're doing okay jobs, but that they should improve on some things.
I'd simply not respond to Sanji's VA. I'm sure even he knows it doesn't fit.
Although the One Piece dub is horrible, at least there is a dub. The voice actors should get some respect. I mean had it not been for the dub of some animes, I probably wouldn't have even known the animes. If a One Piece Dub voice actor does join the forum, I probably would ask why One Piece, which has quite a bit of blood in it, would be rated Y7-FY. It deserves at least a PG-V. Another is why did some episodes get cut out of the dub?
