Anyone have any good and realistic excuses to get off of work? My friend is a pizza delivery person, and wants off on Friday. He couldn't switch with anyone else. It can't be anything such as I'm having company over, since most people would know ahead of time. He could say he has car problems, but he's an auto technician. If all else fails, I guess he could call in sick…

Unless the boss is a real jerk or something, I don't look highly on this sort of thing. Your screwing your co-workers who have to come in and cover for you, even though they might have plans.
A while ago, my mom worked a day shift cleaning hotel rooms, then had to come in and do a night shift watching the desk, cause the night shift girl called in sick. Night shift girl was seen later that night at the bar. Needless to say that girl was soon let go.

Well, not sure about the boss, but there's about 3 or 4 managers there. Not sure if my friends would consider them jerks though. They do schedule him until closing even on school days, and I believe he gets up at 4am for school. He also fell asleep at the wheel driving to school, and got a flat tire due to this job.
Also, my friend should be getting a job at Sears auto department soon…I tell him to request off earlier, but he never does. He asked me to come up with an excuse

The squits (of diarrhea, if you will). Friend used it once, no questions asked.

I'm pretty sure my friend won't use that. I suggested it last time he wanted off. People see it more of a joke type thing…

Best excuse to skip work: (Taken from Family Guy)
"I can't come in to work today, I was in a horrible plane crash, my family was killed and I am now a vegetable. I'll see you (next work day)."

Caught a cold. … Many people are catching cold lately around me, so probably it won't be weird if I use that. ... But then, I'm really sick anyway... I should go home x.x

Just don't burn Bridges, you never know when you could use the reference, or when you'll get asked to provide your last boss as a reference.
anywho, Your friend should watch Ferris Buler's Day Off. Even if none of those ideas are appealing, it's a great movie. :P

Say he sprianed his ankle real bad and can't walk on it? =O
He should've asked to be off earlier, though…. :/

As a manager of a store, I am frowning very much on this. If he wanted friday off, he should have asked for it off. But because he didn't unless he is genuinely sick and/or has a family emergency he should not call in. This puts a major damper on the managers and whomever is called in for him. Even if there are four managers, it does not mean that he is not needed. My boyfriend used to work at Pizza Hut as a delivery person, he would work with three other managers. One would be in charge of deliveries, one would be in the kitchen cooking and one would out in the restaurant. And because it is a Friday night, he will very much be needed. I know from my boyfriend working at P.H., that Fridays and Saturdays are some of the busiest days.
