I'm kinda tired of my old music and was looking for some new bands to listen to. I figure alot of you guys are really into the music thing, so you'd probably have some neat ideas…

      Here's what I really enjoy:
Stuff with a beat (I don't mind if it starts out slow)
      interesting lyrics
      sad songs
      upbeat songs
      stuff with good instrumentation

      Stuff that's not so good:
      Slow songs
      crazy screaming rock music
      Satanic/Maroliyn Manson/Kiss shiznit

Stuff that I'm not above listening to:
      Country
      Emo (reasonably emo)
      techno
      foreign
      pop
      instrumental
      Weird Al type stuff
      Old stuff

Please help this poor, music deficient art student out! x3

        hm… I have some suggestions n__n

Death Cab For Cutie - they have interesting songs, some are sorta slow, but I think they're good to listen to when you're working or something

Cowboy Mouth - not sure how to describe them, they're pretty cool, very catchy upbeat music. I suppose you can call them slightly country-rock er somethin...

If ya like country, I'd recommend Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, or Big & Rich.. they all have pretty good songs, most of them upbeat.

uh.... Switchblade Symphony is pretty cool...

I have mp3s i can hook you up with if ya want n__n

you know sad is usually slow…... but anyway.

          Mighty Mighty Bosstones
          Red Hot Chili Peppers
          Queen (A must hear)
          The Who
They Might Be Giants (VERY interesting lyrics)
          The Clash
          Aerosmith
          Michael Jackson
          The Offspring
          Bob Dylan
          Jimi Hendrix

thats all i'll give right now. tell me which you have heard, or tried and don't like and i'll take them out and add new ones.

            take your pick

my personal favorites would be Dream Theater, Guns N Roses, Blue Man Group, Def Leppard, Rie Fu, Queen, Tran Siberian Orchestra…

            By the way, if it's just the artist name, inside the folder are more albums, if it's just album, well then it's just album ^^;

            12000 songs gooo! =p

Cool neko, those bands sound interesting! =D I'll check into them~

you know sad is usually slow…... but anyway.

When I say sad, I don't mean the music is sad… not like funeral music... What I really ment by that I suppose, is that I'm looking for emotionally provacative music. Stuff that gives you a sense of longing or nostalgia, but has a beat or a catchy tune. (Like the Ukranian Bell Charol or a good violin piece) I throughly enjoy listening to that type of music because it gives me a desire to draw the emotion and inspires some of best (and weirdest) work. 😃 Think songs like "I just died in your arms tonight" or "All the lovely people" or "Feel Good Inc" I guess. Thanks for the suggestions though! I've heard of some of those but I've never really looked into them. ^^

DAD GUM WZ! @__@ That is one huge collection! That's amazing. xD Trans Siberia Orchestra is awsome, my friend has a christmas cd by them.

Have you ever heard the Rocky Horror Picture Show before? It's a teriffic musical that gets Rootbeer's crazy approval.

                    Weird Al type stuff

You mean song parodies or just silly songs?

And can I ask you what your definition of a slow song is?

                      Stuff With A Beat:

                      • Richard Cheese (This guy can turn Limp Bizkit's Nookie and Sir-Mix-A-Lot's Baby Got Back into amusing jazz numbers. Recommend! XD)
                      • The Polyphonic Spree (Post-Modern Rock)
                      • Hellogoodbye (Alternative)
                      • Matisyahu (Reggae)
                      • Sublime (Reggae Rock)

                      Interesting Lyrics:

                      • Leonard Cohen (Ballads, mostly. The lyrics are very storytelling-like.)
                      • Aqualung (The stuff they say can make your heart flutter. XD)
                      • Jack Johnson (Acoustic)

                      Sad Songs:

                      • Snow Patrol (Post-Rock Alternative. If you like The Postal Service then you'll love this one. :D)
                      • Embrace (A bit like Keane. I recommend "Gravity" for your listening pleasure!)

                      Upbeat Songs:

                      • Panic! At The Disco (Punk. Fall Out Boy-ish.)
                      • The Hippos (Ska)
                      • Motion City Soundtrack (Post-Punk)
                      • Arctic Monkeys (Britpop)
                      • Belle & Sebastian (Britpop)
                      • Chas & Dave ("Rabbit" is my favourite song. It's the stupidest thing ever. XD)
                      • Mad Caddies (Ska. "Drinking For 11", "Good Intentions" and "Rockupation" are their catchiest tunes yet.)
                      • Athlete (Alternative)
                      • Everything on the American Pie soundtracks.
                      • Bumblebeez 81 (weird fun music. XD)

                      Reasonably Emo:

                      • Dashboard Confessional
                      • Jimmy Eat World
                      • The Used
                      • The Mars Volta (I'd suggest "The Widow", which is probably their only song without vocal abuse >_>)

                      Techno:

                      • London Elektricity (DnB)
                      • Cafe del Mar (Easy-listening chillout music)
                      • Paul Van Dyk (Trance)

                      Foreign:

                      • Anggun (English & French mostly. Folk-Pop, New Age.)
                      • Tompi (Indo & English. R&B.)
                      • Maliq & D'Essentials (Indo & English. Jazz&B.)
                      • Bali Lounge (World music. Folk-Instrumental.)
                      • Sigur Ros (Icelandic. Post-Alternative Rock.)
                      • Pizzicato Five (Japanese. Acid Jazz.)

                      Instrumental:

                      • The String Quartets (String Instruments. The cool thing is, they do instrumental cover songs for bands like Incubus XD)

                      Old stuff:

                      • Bob Marley & The Wailers (Reggae. ❤ <3)

my playlist has almost 2000 songs and half of them are uncommercialised bands. >_> i'll try listing it like WZ once i figure out how to do it. meanwhile, try www.allmusic.com and www.xfm.co.uk! that's where i usually search my daily dose of music. XD

                      music's never loud enough

I just took multiple print screens and put them together in photoshop ^^

I was contemplating using Winamp's generate HTML playlist, but I realized that'd take too long for winamp to read the ID tags for all the files…so I said screw it =p
