Where do you think Oda-sensei gets his inspiration for the devil fruits?

I was reading Romance Dawn and started thinking about it, Where does he get his inspirations?

He probably got the Gomu-Gomu fruit idea from chewing a gum. LOL

probably he just looks at everyday objects and asks himself how would somebody use (name any item) as a superpower. If you have an imagination you could see how he does it

The Gomu Gomu powers most likely came from the Marvel and DC superheroes. There's about 4 superheroes who have identical powers to Luffy.

The bara bara fruit probably because he was a clown XD Magician cutting up ppl and all that.

I wonder where he got the idea for stuff like Baku Baku, Hana Hana, and Noro Noro. Those are pretty original.

A lot of them probably came from American comics (if Oda is as influenced by them as much as Nobuhiro Watsuki). Most of them probably came from where most of his manga did large amounts of imagination aided with some form of drug. <_> Although when it comes to Zoan he just pulls random animals out of his ass.

I always noticed that the devil fruits and X-men explanations were similar. "Because of "blank," these people have powers." Except devil fruits users all have a kryptonite.

The elemental devil fruits are basic. Zoan's are getting boring…

Must have been around the same time…I think Crocodile was mentioned before Gaara appeared first, but I think Gaaras Sand was shown before Crocodiles power was...anyway, I don't think one was inspired by the other.

Crocodile's first appearance: Chapter 155
Gaara's first appearance: Chapter 35

Using those numbers and the current number of chapters, as a very rough guess, Crocodile appeared in August 2001, whereas Gaara appeared almost exactly a year earlier in August 2000.

I don't think crocodile's powers and Gaara's powers have any relation to eachother.. i think Oda-sensei just thought it'd be wise since they're gonna be in a desert.

No really, with how crazy and original OP is, I think Oda is just a really creative person and knows how to use his imagination. He can probably look at a junk yard and get an idea for a whole new saga involving trash or something. He probably just looks at anything and gets an idea.
