I know Zoro has 1111
And i recall, though can't remember from where, that Sanji has a number, think it's something like 59?
Does anyone else have one?

Are you talking about that SBS where Oda gives to all strawhats numbers?
(SBS from stephen's script of the volume 40)
Luffy: 01, 56 (Go-mu, or rubber)
Smells like Meat
Zoro: 02
Smells like Steel
Nami: 03, 73 (Na-mi)
Smells like Oranges (and Money)
Usopp: 04
Smells like Gunpowder
Sanji: 05, 32 (San-ji), 59 (Ko-kku, or cook)[note: in France, we said "Cuisinier" or "coq" for cook; so, maybe the "kokku" is more appropriate to "coq" than cook;)]
Smells like Cigarettes and Seafood
Chopper: 06
How Should I Know?
Robin: 07
Smells like Flowers
i'm not sure what i meant, but you mananged to provide it anyway, thank you very much
In the case of Zoro, 1111 is the number derived from his name. This is by a process in japan where japanese characters have number counterparts (in Zoro's case, both zo and ro become 11). This process allowed Oda to get Zoro, Sanji, Nami and Robin's birthdates
not with Zoro. His name happens to mean zorome, which happens when 3/3 or 6/6 occurs in the year. 11/11 happens to be his birthday because it's the biggest zorome, or big sequence of the same number, during the year.

by that definition, wouldn't it be 12/12?
it has to be the same digit every time… so 12/12 doesn't work b/c it's 2-digits... at least, that's how i saw it...
no, because 12 uses 2 different numbers to make, and 11 uses one number repeated twice…If that makes any sense.
shweet, is there an english word for this?
"repetent sequence of numbers."
Just a phrase
Maybe Chopper smells like herbs?
Anyway, what's Franky's number?
That information was released before Franky joined, so we don't really know.
Maybe Oda will release new info for new Strawhats later in the future?
I think Franky's color would be brown, and he'll smell like machinery and cola.
Yeah, but they had all sorts of info for the strawhats. Oda even measured their curiosity and fashion style, but we have yet to see the treatment for ROBIN yet. I'm pretty sure we won't get that information soon.
I agree. We won't. Ha ha.
Hmm..does anyone know how to do that number thing with name (that I sorta described before)? I'd like to try it out
I think it'll be really hard for non-native Japanese. It's because it requires advanced knowledge and understanding of Japanese language. (who knew mu can stand for 6 and ji can stand for 2)

Franky, or whoever joins the strawhat next, would definitely has 08 as one of his numbers.
As for chopper's smell, herbal smell sounds reasonable. BTW does he bathe?

Actually, it's pretty easy. I'm not Japanese, and have only been taking classes for two years, but I can still figure it out. When you learn the kanji for a number, you learn most of the readings for it. That includes the weirder ones like mu (6), itsu (5), kokono (9), and that kinda thing. ^_^
I think Franky's color would be brown, and he'll smell like machinery and cola.
It would prolly be light blue because of his hair and arm stars.
Franky could be 2777 for
fu: 2
Lucky: 777
Well he is the BF 36 so he number may have something to with that.
God I hope Franky doesn't join. What can I say, waves in the world make me smile.
Why is it everyone questions Franky joining when he was in a colorspread WITH THE STRAWHAT PIRATES. If Pauly was going to join, I think he'd be on there instead, but he's not. Kaku's with the cp9, so if by some incredibly crazy, drug-induced ODA PLOTTWIST, it wouldn't really feel right. It wasn't like Bon Clay's relationship with the strawhats, so it really seems irksome to me. Franky also has a multiple chapter flashback, come on, you know he's got to join.
Relax ybmc. It happens that not everyone here is a fan of Franky. Some of them wants paulie or Kaku or any characters to join instead, so they are questioning about Franky joining. Others are just being conservative, as in nothing is confirmed until Oda says it so.
^ ^
You would have thought a guy like him would be wearing cologne all the time. It would probably make it worse though.
Well, I hate the smell of virtually all cologne, personally. >_< And there's nothing worse than cheap cologne being used to cover up a smelling guy. gag

Not again. Please.
Chill out.
Franky would be 269.
Pauley would be 82. … Yeah I think 82... or maybe it was 86... or 80.
Lulu would be 66.
Need anybody else I should be spitting out the numbers?
Number thing isn't really special at all in Japan. I remember using those numbering thing to communicate in pagers with friends. We typed up whole paragraph using all numbers.
So yeah, judging who'll be the next crewmember by number is pointless. Move on... Go back to numbering discussion...
Oceanizer.
THANK YOU.
tears in eyes, bows before him
Okay, I'm lost. Didn't see an explination in any of the posts (or I wasn't observant enough). >.>;
So um… what's with these numbers?
x.x @ Judas.
Japanese pronounciations are easily representated by numbers. For example:
a: 1
i: 1
u: 5
e: 6
o: 0
sayonara: 3476
ohayo: 084
etc. My skill is lusting since I haven't been using it for more than 10 years and my Chinese knowledge is hindering to make out correct numberings.
BUT either way, it's like saying 99 for night night in English. If you know Chinese, then 88 for bye bye…

-_-" at calling Mandarin Chinese, if you refer to Chinese as a language, you're referring to Cantonese :ninja:
That's one problem I have with my gf. She's Cantonese and adresses Cantonese Chinese. I'm a Taiwanese descendent, so naturally I address Mandarin Chinese. So whenever she says Chinese, I correct her: "You mean, Cantonese."
See, if you see school's language courses, there're Chinese and Cantonese. Obviously, majority think Chinese = Mandarin. You Cantonese people need to see the reality >:)
But for this matter, I don't think there's any difference. My Cantonese friends use 88, too.

lol, it's ever since China took Hong Kong, it's all just gone downhill since then, all this Simplified Chinese and Mandarin as the national language, i say bring back the days when of the Snake Fist, Eagles Claw and Drunkern Techniques then you'll see, it'd be a Catonese uprising.
That aside, my cantonese is so bad it's not even legal, i'm just the victim of brainwashing, between Kung Fu movies and Hong-Kong'anese girlfriends, i never even had the chance to start liking (learning) Mandarin
