I know, that's why I'm surprised. Eddie Brock always gave me the impression of a muscular jockish character–but this could work as well.
-
I don't think Symbiote Spidey ever faught a Green Goblin, so I am looking forward to seeing that in the film.
I also think this is the first time the Sandman has featured in any Spider-Man related media. Despite being the fourth villain he fought, I can't remember seeing him in the cartoon.
-
Correcto-Mundo about Sandman never being in a Spider-Man show, and going off-topic none of the animated Spider-Man cartoons are very good if Ultimate SM get turned into a cartoon I hope it winds up as an original series on Adult Swim.
and mean it's weakness is heat and sonics right? That's GG level weaponery.
He doesn't really dabble in that kind of weaponry especially Sonic, but in the Ultimate continuity throwing fireballs is one of his special powers.
-
Lots of stuff that show up in teaser trailers can change, and that involves design. They got till next year to re-consider goblin's suit :P
Oh, the old bell-tower trick to get rid of the symbiote eh?
-
I saw the trailer, before Superman Returns which was weird and I'm definetely going. I just hope they can handle all of these characters they're introducing, including Gwen Stacey
-
Is there going to be some sort of Gwen-Eddie connection, or am I just shroomin'?
-
I personally don't see where you got that idea from. Generally Gwen has always been Peter's girl (bar a breif fling with Norman Osborn - see "Sins Past" for more information). Granted there may have been something breif between Eddie and Gwen in Ultimate Spider-Man (in "616", I think Gwen was killed before Eddie and/or the symbiote came into play), but I don't think it amounted to anything other than Eddie possibly hitting on her (it's been about 3 - 4 years since I last read the Ultimate Venom storyline). I doubt anything will happen between those two in the film, other than perhaps Eddie using Gwen as a weakness for Peter of some kind.
-
The teaser-trailer was awesome. Here are my thoughs:
-
Why Sandman? What villain is better for a symbiote-induced super-violent Spider-man to fight in a film without covering the screen with blood? I bet Sandman is going to fill the role of Spider-man enemy while Spider-man have the black suit, so we can see Spidey getting more and more on the edge.
-
I'm certain that Venom is on the film. I may be hearing things too much, but look at the trailer: just after Mary Jane's voice asks "What's happening to you?", there's a small scene of Parker looking back as if something was behind him. Turn your sound way up and you will hear a monstrous voice saying something very briefly on this scene (I may be getting crazy, but I think it says "Venom"). Can anyone confirm or deny this? Am I imagining things?

Gwen died in The Carnage Arc which if I remember right occurs after
the Hollywood Arc -
I do remember her death in both 616 and Ultimate.

Unless I'm not hearing it. Its just peter saying "Oh No"

I haven't read the comic books (though I intend to, although I'm not sure which "Universe" to start from) but I do know about Gwen/Peter and the fact that Raimi has taken liberties in terms of plot, but I would assume if anything Eddie might use Gwen to get info out of Parker or something. I didn't mean to imply that they had a romantic relationship. I mean, if they did it'd sure as hell spice things up.
-

It does look like an "oh no" now that you mentions it, but that is not Pete's voice. You can hear Pete's voice just after that scene saying "I have to stop it".
Now combine the three voice:
Mary Jane: "What's happening to you?"
Mysterious Voice: "Oh no"? or may be "Venom"?
Peter: "I have to stop it"Really, even if it does not say "Venom", it is clearly not Pete's voice, and is a voice quite distorted.

It still possible, the film isn't a complete adaption of the original comic. Brock could be a spurned lover or something so as to make the hatred of Peter even more personal
-
OP Man raises a good point there. For example Mary Jane never dated Jonah's son in the comics.
As for which "universe" to go with, I'd reccomend both "616" (aka regular Marvel comics) and Ultimate. Ultimate is a great way to see an up to date re-telling of Spider-Man's origins, and despite what some people think, I personally enjoy the current events in 616 Spidey's life.
-
Hey there, does anyone have a Direct DL link for the latest trailer?
-
-
Wow…
It's annoying this film is still 10 months away.

It looks like they doing the movie like in the cartoon. Anyone remember Pete going to the bell tower using the sound of the bell to get the suit off? I also remember him fighting Sandman around those episodes. This movie has me going insane can not wait till it comes out. I would have a gasm if carnage was introduced (like after the creds roll or at the end for a cliff hanger?)
This movie is gonna be bamf
-
@C.D:
I also remember him fighting Sandman around those episodes.
I think he fought Rhino and Shocker around those episodes instead.
-
Sandman was never in the FOX animated series because he was going to be in the first movie back then.
-
Sandman was the only major Spidey villain who didn't make it into the 1994 series. Heck even Miles Warren got a breif cameo.
However Sandman did feature in "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends" (from what I've read anyway).
-
He also had episodes in the 1981 solo series and the 1967 series.
…goddamnit, I wish they would release the '81 series on DVD already.

New Comic Con Trailer. Coming directly from Venom origin story. The Church, the bond, THE TEETH AND TOUNGE!
Kinda bad quality but great none the less. -
I couldn't even tell what that was at the very end. We finally get to see Venom but we can't!
-
I couldn't really make out the new stuff either, but it looks great. Can't wait to see more.
-
Heres to a HQ trailer for it.

I spot already problems in Spiderman 3. While the first two great movies concentrated highly and fixated the spotlight upon one villain instead of packing in 3 goddamn villains like in S3(Spiderman 3)… this is so cliche'd...
Like in Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End(3rd movie title pending yet....) where Davy Jones returns, we know that SPOILER COMES Barbossa is back and there's said that other old "villains" returns. How cliche'd.
I mean, having "omfg!1! thousand villains in the last movie!" is so stereotypic!
Sam Rami, has he lost the spark since Evil Dead? Spiderman 1 and 2 focused on the magnicifient characterization(sp?) of Green Goblin and Doc Ock, while this packs Goblin(Harry Osborn)... Sandman and Venom(Eddie Brock)!
I would GLADLY appreciate comments and critique to this post of mine.
-
Technically the movie will focus mainly on Sandman. By the end of the movie Venom will appear, thus mainly focusing on one villian. So it will still be awsome
-
Never knew that, but to an extent it's okay that by the end of the movie a certain character makes a cameo or a brief appareance, but it seems like I thought, that Spidey will fight Venom more than one time during the movie.
And what about Harry Osborn?
-
No one is sure abut him. All we know is that he will not appear in the 4th one.
-

…and what twisted experiment did Spiderman was blamed to have a hand in to make Sandman hate him?
Now I'm a bit curious: Does Harry become the Hob Goblin or the 2nd Green Goblin? -
Hn, if you're talking about Marvel comics in general, I'd love to bring you the following words… Harry becomes the 2nd Green Goblin in the old classic and marvelous Marvel comics, Roderick Kingsley becomes Hobgoblin LATER on.
But if you're talking about the movie, I'm not sure.
-
It's been stated before that Harry doesn't become either the GG2 or the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man 3.
-
@CP9:

True, but Harry becomes the Hobgoblin in Ultimate Marvel (though I get the feeling you may already know this).
I don't know if Eddie was called "Eddie Brock Jr." in 616 (i.e. the more well known marvel universe), but that's his name in the Ultimate universe. This is leading me to believe that Sam may be using a number of ideas from Ult. Spidey in SM3, such as perhaps Harry being the Hobgoblin instead of Green Goblin 2 (I have heard them say they don't want to re-use a villain), and perhaps giving the symbiote the Ult. origin.
-
You know, I look away from the "Ultimate" series since my honest opinion is that the Ultimate cartoons of Marvel doesn't honor the cartoons of Stan Lee and John Romita senior.. but mocks them with giving Green Goblin extreme muscles.
I didn't know that though, I rarely read Ultimate Spiderman anyways.
-
I think Ultimate is pretty good, giving Spiderman to a new generation in a way they can understand it.
And CP9, is it just me or do you change your avatar a lot? Not trying to be offending just curious. -
I don't read the Ultimate comics myself (except for some that my friend owns), but I don't see how they "mock" the original comics (just because the design of a character is not the same as the original version).
If you are doing an alternate universe, then what would be the point of keeping everything exactly the same as the original universe?
-
Bar "Ultimate Avengers", there isn't any "Ultimate" cartoon. Perhaps you're confusing it with "Spider-Man Unlimited".
I personally love Ultimate Spider-Man. I agree with what Anime Master said, and personally I like the new ideas that have apeared in Ultimate. The idea of Peter getting into a serious relationship with another super hero is a great idea, and personally don't want him to go back to Ult. Mary Jane. I like the different ways of creating Venom and the Green Goblin. Like Captain Kuro said, why does an alternate universe need to be a carbon copy?
-
Spiderman 3 will focus on Spiderman and the black suit. Sandman is a misunderstood villain, and Venom is the suit, thus a part of the movie.
Now considering none of the current cast has signed on for any future movies, introducing new characters to set up a next movie is ridiculous. In fact it defies the laws of logic, what if the film bombs? (lol, yea right) What if the next director refuses to use Venom as the new villain? What if the new writers want to give Spiderman a new spin like Batman begins?
The way I see it..
Sandman is a major character in the film, he isn't really a villain, Spiderman will be the villain for the Sandman part of the movie.
Harry will be like Scarecrow in Batman Begins, a mini w/e character that's been with us all along, so he'll finally do something without requiring any character development considering we know him.
Venom most likely will be the major villain in this film. According to Raimi, originally he didn't want to do venom.. however
When I saw how the writers had written his character into the story I fell in love with it, I can honestly say I am the newest venom fan This isn't the exact quote, however it is the jist of it.For Raimi to say those particular words, tells me Venom has a major role, and he is written incredibly well into the story, not as a cliff hanger.
I swear Matrix ruined hollywood movies FOREVER cliffhanger endings are the worst invention since blogs (although cliff hanger endings came first). -
I swear Matrix ruined hollywood movies FOREVER cliffhanger endings are the worst invention since blogs (although cliff hanger endings came first).
I'm sure there were some earlier films with cliffhanger endings, but didn't Star Wars also kind of make the cliffhanger ending popular (with Empire Strikes Back)?
-
If anything I felt the Two Towers was spoilt BECAUSE it didn't use the cliffhanger ending.
Wait - The Matrix had cliffhanger endings? Not from what I remember.
-
Wait - The Matrix had cliffhanger endings? Not from what I remember.
I dunno, I haven't even seen the Matrix movies.
-
The second Matrix movie was a cliffhanger so that you would go see the third.
The first Matrix movie was a perfect stand alone film that didn't need a sequel.
-
@Refi:
what if the film bombs? (lol, yea right)
Bad things come in threes (sometimes anyway)
and personally don't want him to go back to Ult. Mary Jane.
If it isn't already common knowledge though it should be Peter will be involved in a love triangle involving Mary Jane & Kitty Pryde, on the whole I agree with Mary Jane is just too caprious & hardheaded(sp) for her own good I was glad when Peter dumped her falling the fallout from the battle with the
Hobgoblin.@CP9:

The Green Goblin having muscles isn't really (he does transform after all) a bad thing I for like how they take characters & villian & reimagning them though I'm sort of mixed on how they did Gwen Stacy & though he's not one of my favorite villians Shocker is just used as cannon fodder.
-
Awsome, love how they are bringing back the church and it looks like the tounge is there :O
