Geez, everything has changed COMPLETELY since I last posted any art.

Well, I guess you now do it by starting a new tread for yourself, if you think you're prolific enough. If that's not how it's done, let me know

I hope to post lots of sketches here. My DA gallery (beware, there's a good bit of gay in there, although I draw het, gen, and gasp non-OP stuff too) is mostly for finished stuff, but I'd love to be able to post sketches and silly stuff somewhere. I hope it's welcome here :happy:

Anyway, here's a sketch I did of Lucci in half-leopard form. I actually did this for the 666 hit on my DA account. This is the base I used for the actual 666-hit pic. Charcoal and white Conte crayon on grey paper. Hope you like :biggrin:

I have a lot to say about this comic! However, the most important comments will be available at the venues where it can be viewed anyway. If you would like to see my extensive and excessive director's commentary on the comic, follow the link to get to the slow connection version, or chose another below.

PREVIEWS: Here are a few snippets of some of the panels. They've been cropped and reduced, but I hope they give you an idea of what to expect!

So, would you like to see the comic itself? Excellent! You have a number of choices, then. The comic is available in two basic versions: a single, VERY TALL image or significant file size (1.6 MB, I think), and one broken down into one panel = one image. If your connection eats full-length movies for breakfast, go ahead and pick the long and tall version. If your connection is not feeling too muscular, I recommend the latter version. There are no major differences between the two versions, though the smaller file size version will have slightly crisper images. The single-image huge version basically exists so that I could upload it to my art galleries. Also coming soon are links to my annotated version.

I really liked two parts, the one in which the shorts are thrown at Franky, and the drawing of Iceberg handing Franky the cola. Really nice, did you color it in blue, or was that Photoshop?

And yep, this was all done in honest-to-God blue ink. It was done entirely with brushes, too, no pens. Photoshop was just used to put it all together.

Wow, I have, uh, a lot of art to post. Mostly just doodles, but hey, figured I'd share.

First Vivi and Kohza. This was a gift for a friend's birthday:

Everything but the first one was done for a little thing I'm doing where I have to draw at least one doodle every day. Since my own ideas get really boring to me, I opened it up so that people can request whatever they want and I'll draw it for them.

So if you want something, feel free to go request something!! Just be sure to read the (very easy and laid-back) rules and mind that there is appparently a wait now >.>

gaara d. lucci: Thank you! Most of my One Piece art is scattered around this thread, but I alse have a deviantArt gallery. I warn you though, I have yaoi there are well as het and gen. I draw basically everything.

Helens: Thanks so much for your comments, especially about the comic. I worked really hard on it ^^;

As far as improvement goes: these doodles I do every day, their purpose is to get me to loosen up. I used to draw all the time, but then I had a pretty severe case of artist's block for over a year. It actually made me lose a lot of skill that I used to have – so many of my older drawings are better than the ones I do now. Since then, I tend to get really tense and stressed out by drawing and I need to be able to relax and just go for it without worrying so much about it. The doodles really aren't the best quality, but they're doing what I was hoping they would – they're making me loosen up. Eventually they should also make me actually improve the quality of my drawing

The stuff that I spend more than 10-30 mintues on I hope looks better? If you don't mind a case of the ghey (but nothing actually going on) and (so far censored, but won't be in the final) nudity, this Smoker and Ace pic is something I'm slowly working on inking digitally.

As far as anatomy studies and figure drawing classes go – I've never taken an instructional art class in my life, though I dearly want to take an anatomy class. I don't have the time to right now, but I think there is one available that I can take next year

I also used to do a LOT of anatomical studies, before my block, but I haven't done any since, and I know it shows. It's definitely something I need to get back into.

Whew, okay! I also need to say that I love you art – there's a looseness and fluidity to it that is part of what I'm trying to learn/regain right now, and yu also happen to draw some of my favourite characters. Double win =D

Ahh, sorry, I've been having literacy issues lately. :C For loosening up… Well, hell, I have problems with that too, and if I find any cure better than what you've come up with, I'll be sure to let you know. Hehe, glad to hear it's helping.
Though I probably need to loosen up in a pretty different way: though most of my stuff is just silliness out of fandomgasm, or boredom, or plain laziness (okay plain laziness and lack of desire to do whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing are dominant causes), I end up just being stuck in the same couple of horribly static poses and headshots and ugh.

That Smoker x Ace pic is DEFINITELY looking good: both anatomy, concept, and inking wise. Heh, I've never been able to ink anything digitally; either I make a total mess of things or by the time I'm done doing a half-way decent job, any desire to color it is gone. So I definitely have to salute on a job well done so far.

Awwww gawrsh. You're too nice. :'3 It's probably mostly because I'm such a freakin' messy person. >_> I spend half of the drawing trying to erase my guidelines, I swear. But heeey if it gives the illusion of fluidity, gotta be worth it, right? XD

Helens: First of all, uh, I wanted to be sure you knew that I didn't mean to sound harsh or reproving in any way, as it belatedly occured to me that I might have come across that way. My apologies! Now then:

I definitely know what you mean there! This is part of why the meme is helping, because a lot of the times people specify for me to do certain poses and/or expressions and it forces me to go out of my comfort zone. I'm lazy, which is why I like requests – they make me exert effort when I otherwise would not. If you want, I could totally hit you up with some prompts and/or requests, cause that would be an all-win situation from my side, definitely XD

I fail at tablet drawing pretty badly, which is why I'm using a neat digital inking technique that is mostly swiped from this tutorial. It makes the process relatively painless, if somewhat slow, but at least it's much less stressful than endlessly correcting my wobbly tablet lines >.<

And nope, no art classes. It's just something I've done my whole life, so when you take into account the fact that I've had 20 years of practice, you'd think I'd be doing better XD

Well, when I draw messy it looks messy and you can't tell what's going on. When you do messy it looks elegant and loose. So there =P

Well, of the people you draw already I love Lucci. Like, a lot. And Paulie. Generally if I had to pick a favourite character it'd be Iceburg, but I also love Franky, Kalgara, Norland, Smoker, Ace, Shanks, Ben, and Pell. I also like Vivi lots and Robin is just gorgeous and I have a huge soft spot for Luffy because you kinda have to to love One Piece XD

But yeah, hey, if you want to draw any of them I'd be thrilled. And if you ever want to hit me up for pchat or just chat or anything else, feel free =D

pirateneko: Thanks very much! I actually plan to rework that comic, keep the art but get rid of that blue Photoshopped background and replace it with an ink wash, and make it a bit bigger and just generally improve it

Wow, I'm horrible at keeping this place updated.

All of these are for a doodle meme I've got over at my livejournal where I draw a doodle very day, and people can request stuff if they wish. You guys are welcome to make requests too

Well, okay then. Let's start with something totally kosher: Robin! I adore her, and she's so gorgeous. I tried to do a quick half-hour portrait of her in Photoshop. The result isn't spectacular, but it's not too bad, I think, for a doodle.

Okay, now for a couple of pencil doodles. Warning, all of these contain mild to medium amounts of GHEY, a.k.a. yaoi. So, you know. Watch yourself if you're not into that.

Someone over on LJ requested Ben and Shanks cuddling in yukata and also Lucci molesting Shuraiya Bascud (scenario come from an RP). So, here we are:

That one turned out okay, I guess. I like this one much better, mostly because of the expressions, Lucci's hair, and the fact that I tried an interesting angle on Lucci's face and it even kind of worked.

Someone else, over on deviantArt, requested something with younger Iceburg, preferably Franky.Iceburg and grumpy. So here we are!

Okay, that's it for One Piece right now. I've got a couple of miscellaneous things now.

First of all, two different people requested stuff from Disney movies, and to my surprise I found that I really like Disney style! I thought I'd be really bad at it, but actually these turned out okay.

Jasmine and Rajah from Aladdin:

That one was done in brush pens, which I really like, even though I'm terrified of working in ink. I'm actually really proud of myself for how much I freehanded this one, since the sketch I inked over was very rough. Here's the sketch, just cause I like it =D

The other request was Kovu and Kiara from The Lion King II as cubs. Here they are:

Aaaand finally an old friend of mine requested a picture of Serenity from Firefly. Now I don't often draw tech or mecha, and there's a very good reason for that: I'm not very good at it. I also dug in my heel on this one, like I'm wont to do, and refused to copy off a screenshot or use the Line Tool. I had several different screenshots in front of me and drew it from an angle different from any of the shots, just because I like to torture myself =P

So, having totally been 100% prolific lately, I thought maybe I should like… update this thing. Unfortunately, I mostly have CRACK.

A while back I did a doodle of Lucci/Shuraiya (it's upthread somewhere, I think, and defintiely in my DA gallery) for someone's request. I decided I liked it enough to eventually clean up. "Eventually" turned out to be "half a year later" XD I ended up actually redrawing this from scratch, since there were so many little things wrong with it, and I had a ton of fun. It is quite gay. I give it a PG13 rating for mangropings.

CRACKTASTIC.

Speaking of cracktASStic things, someone at the lj capslock_op comm posted an OP/Final Fantasy XII crossover pic, with Robin as Fran, the bunny lady with the battle-thong armour. Robin looked very lovely, but it just wasn't brain-breaking enough for me.

Thus, FRANky was born.
