Futurama

Am I the only one who thinks this show needs to die off? I mean it was good and all but its really starting to get boring.
-
Well there might be more children like you yes, but there's many more who want more Futurama including me and all of my friends
-

I think that statement applies to a different Matt Groening series better

Agreed. I also find it slightly annoying the way that show bashes Family Guy when I find the more reent Family Guy episodes far more interesting, enjoyable and funny the than more recent episodes of Matt's main series.
Anyhoo, I'm not really sure how to feel about the return of Futurama. I loved it as much as the next fan but I did like the way it ended. The final episode was excellent and it's ending would be slightly spoilt by it's return. On the other hand the new episodes might be worth seeing. I'll just have to wait for more news.
-
Actually the last season of that show is IMHO pretty good again but it won't be long before it'll degrade yet again so i want Futurama which i don't remember having any satisfing conclusion so what do you mean if i may ask Caracal?
-
Awww. I was a big fan ;_; So much for 30 seconds of joy…
Family Guy? It kinda annoys me with all the short flashbacks and somewhat shallow jokes. Besides, Peter tries too hard to be Homer, but fails to charm me -_-
-
I love Futurama. In my opinion it eventually went leaps and bounds above the Simpsons, and I still prefer it to Family Guy.
I heard the new project is some movies on DVD or something.
Aw, poor Billy West. He seemed pretty sad that he was wrong. I liked this quote though:
But I do live to give good Futurama news to people. So I must've
died or something. -
I think that statement applies to a different Matt Groening series better
Amen.
But yay for Futurama, I just hope FOX doesn't get it again.
-
This would have been much better news if it were years ago. Now its just kinda like "wow, that's cool I guess." I'm not as happy as I would have been if it was earlier, but I'll still watch. It doesn't say whether or not FOX is renewing this or not, but best bet they are. Hmmm…so it took cartoon network and dvd sales for FOX to realize their mistakes...they're so lame.
EDIT: Don't get your hopes up too quickly http://billywest.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2020&KW=billywest

Hmmm… that's weird. Originally my post was after DeadJustice, unless he deleted it and reposted.
-
No something is borked up.
And i'll live
-

Just my opinion but I gotta say:
A. The flashbacks, and asides are what's meant to be funny. Their frequency and spontaneous nature are what's supposed to be funny. If that doesn't tickle your funny bone I can't help you there.
B. Absolutely nothing about Peter is an attempt to be charming. Peter is a waste of a human being and not so much an idiot as he is a horrible person.
And this is just my two cents but unless you're a pop-culture buff and didn't grow up at LEAST in the early 80's in the US, a good 30-40% of the jokes fall flat.
GREAT news about Futurama! That's amazing and thank you for the post. I wasn't a HUGE fan but I did enjoy it whenever it was on. Good for them!

Ach, the flashbacks used to be funny but it got repetitive. Homer doesn't try either, but he's the original lug, and I find him to be absolutely hilarious. And charming. -_- (and yea, I didn't grow up in the US)
Agree to disagree?
On last paragraph:… Uh, it's not gonna be revived. Wrong info.
-
Glorious. Like Carter, I prefer Futurama to Family Guy, and there's absolutely no comparison (now, anyway) between Futurama and The Simpsons. It's hard to imagine the latter still has such steam after, what, several seasons of sucky episodes?
-
Homer doesn't try either, but he's the original lug, and I find him to be absolutely hilarious.
Hmm, I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say or maybe I wasn't clear. Homer is designed to be a lovable but absent-minded dimwit. Peter is designed to be an awful human being like a pupa-stage Eric Cartmann. There've been plenty of "awwww" moments for Homer but Peter is just a nasty SOB.
-
With regard to Homver vs Peter, I actually feel there are some good elements to Peter. While he may not be perfect I do find a charm in him that I personaly like. I do agree he has a bit in common with Homer, but I also feel they have their differences. Although I do agree that some flashbacks are to long (Peter vs the Chicken in "Da Boom" springs to mind), generally I enjoy them all. But hey, to each their own.
Actually the last season of that show is IMHO pretty good again but it won't be long before it'll degrade yet again so i want Futurama which i don't remember having any satisfing conclusion so what do you mean if i may ask Caracal?
In truth I'm not sure if I could honestly say why I found it satisfing. I really enjoyed the episode. I thought it had a great story which was developed well. I loved how the opera unintentially ended. And I just felt some elements worked towards bring the series to an end - the development of the Fry/Leela relationship, Bender loosing his ass… Uh... I can't say I can really think of any more.
Anyhoo, that's just the way I felt about the ending. Heck, if the next 26 eps are as good as the final one was then I can't wait to see them.
-
Well there might be more children like you yes, but there's many more who want more Futurama including me and all of my friends
I don't know what your problem is but, it was simply an opinion.
-
So futurama isnt going to have new episodes. Im confused.
-
Peter vs the Chicken in "Da Boom" springs to mind
WHAT!!!!??????
Peter VS The Chicken is the greatest battle ever.
Guys, the point of stuff like that (The Chicken Battle, Peter busting his shin, etc.) it's supposed to be funny because it is so absurdly long, drawn out and entirely useless.
As i recall there was a Super Bowl ad a few years back along the same concept. I believe it was E-Trade and it was just a bunch of stupid, boring crap going on for 25 seconds or so. I forget what, either a monkey attempting to do a handstand or something along those lines. Either way the last few seconds basically said, "We just wasted $XXXXXXX dollars. Please visit us online."
You know, I think those scenes are even funnier when I hear that there are actually people out there who try to make sense of them and think they're actually going somewhere. Family Guy has MASTERED the long and drawn-out gag.

For me they're 50/50. Sometimes they're good sometimes they're not. Like the shin thing I thought went on a bit to long for my liking. The Chicken battle was a good one but again I felt it went on a bit to long.
-
peter vs. the chicken was funn y the first time. Not bad the second. The shin thing was stupid the first time and hasnt gotten any better any other time they used it
-
Just the fact that it actually does annoy people and they have a strong opinion that it isn't funny…...makes it even funnier to me ^O^ I can't wait to see what they do next.
-
The shin thing was funny because it came up a second time when you least expected it.
The chicken was funny the first time, but I didn't like it the second time.
-
It was always Futurama > Family Guy, Simpsons but Family Guy > Simpsons. Just because I find the jokes in Family Guy funnier, it's just me.
And I hope Futurama does eventually get brought back, I really do love the thing, but the same pop culture joke from around 2000 somehow just isn't as funny on the tenth rerun I've seen.

I particularly love stuff like:
Fry: "Are you sure about that?"
Bender(confident): "Hey, is the Pope reptilian?!" -
Omni, I love your Peter/ Cartmen analogy.
-
Thread from a year ago, but I don't feel like making a new one, lol
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Billy West is still awesome :x
-
It's great to have Futurama back! As much as I love Simpsons (both old and new seasons), I agree with you guys that it needs to end. Even with the long-awaited movie, it's that time for Simpsons to reach its conclusion. I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted for 2(0) or 3(0) more seasons. XD
As for Family Guy, it can be edgier than Simpsons and has some funny moments. However, it seems as though it rips off a lot of jokes from Simpsons and the characters (with the exception of Brian and Adam West) are just despicable. Family Guy makes me laugh, but I hate most of its cast.
-
But isnt it just 4 Movies and that they are gonna chop it up into 16 episodes? Or are they making more than one season?
-
Haha! That trailer was awesome! You bastards better remind me to see when it comes on.
-
That trailer was freakin' fantastic. I always like how Matt is always taking cracks at Fox.
-
Futurama is much funnier than both Family Guy and The Simpsons.
Professor Farnsworth >>>>>>>>>>> All.
-
Haha, god I love Farnsworth.
and since the Peter vs. the Chicken thing was discussed long ago in this thread…. yeah, 4 times = severely redundant
-
So is there an exact date when these episodes start coming out.
-
God I love Billy West. I am Soooooooo happy this is coming back.
However, to be fair, the joke of being canceled was used by Family Guy when they were brought back. But Futurama is much more worth it.
-

Yeah but this was much funnier
-
God I love that Farnsworth.
-
Great to see Futurama back, now i can see more Zoidberg Hooray!

Peter vs. the Chicken is easily the most boring unfunny thing in Family Guy, and that's saying something. The first one was somewhat funny, but the last two are just pushing it. There long drawn out and not funny,. there jokes never have anything to do with the plot, stupid fart jokes and lame flashbacks get old pretty damn quick.
But Futurama making a comeback is a nice thing to hear.
-

They're going to split the movies, and then add a bunch of new content to make episodes.
I absolutely love Futurama, favorite characters are Farnsworth, Zoidberg, and of course Fry. The show has always been a really fantastic mix between stupid and pretty complex humor. Like Farnsworth in reaction to the announcement of horse race results. "You changed the outcome by measuring it!"
Also, thread starter fails for not making topic name "Good news everyone!"
-
Futurama is the best! I love the Wizard of Oz spoof~

Full leaked trailer.
-
Aw, they cut out Farnsworth's "and most of them died from their injuries!"
-
Frank Welker is back as Nibbler! Awesomeeeeeee
-
yeah, futurama coming back is sick.
as fer simpsons, i love it now and back then. yer all crazy~! YES, the new episodes are DEFINETLY not as good as the oldies, but i still thoroughly enjoy them. the movie was also hilarious.
i liked family guy BEFORE it was cancelled. after it came back it got…..unfunny. they really seem to try too hard. also, they HAVE borrowed ideas from simpsons. sure, who hasn't, but they have borrowed, like, direct stories from simpsons.
wife becoming a gambling addict comes to mind.
simpsons>Futurama>Family Guy
-
bender's big score got leaked a week early
-
Downloading as soon as I get home
8D
Thankssss -
Ahh I love futurama and will never understand why it got canceled in the first place, glad to have it back!
thanks taboo, I owe you one -
Personally, I'm worried that when Futurama comes back, it'll suck.
I mean, I loved Family Guy when that was on up until the time it was cancelled, then in 2005, BAM, hated it and wished it would die. I'm really worried the same thing'll happen with Futurama.Oh, and Buuhan1, I don't know why, but I love your signature. Coral did a nice job on it. Sorry for that off-topic comment.
