Well Angry Beavers was said to have gotten cancelled when the show made fun of it's own cancellation which in turn was being directed at Nickelodeon
so Comedy Central Cancelling South Park wouldn't be that much of a shock although it would be ironic.
South Park
-
-
Nick had a rule though, never talk about cancellation. Angry Beavers broke that rule.
-
If Comedy Central wanted to cancel South Park, they would have done it within the first or second season when the show was at the height of its controversy (there were far more controversial shows in other seasons, but I think those first few seasons were pretty tough in terms of the criticism Comedy Central received for the show). Comedy Central has begun to cater to controversial humor with Chapelle's Show and Mind of Mencia. Heck, Drawn Together would not be on the air if South Park was not still on the air. I personally find some of the stuff on Drawn Together to be more disturbing than South Park. Either way, they both have the right to be on TV, but the choice lies in the hands of Comedy Central.
-
Though, I can see the offensiveness in jesus pooping on the presedent and the flag, They didn't do it just fo the hell of being stupid. I actually like the point they made with that.
People seem to be able to get away with making fun of chritains. I actually don't mind laughing at myself, as long as it's in good taste, and not meant to hurt anyone.
Being fair, South Park is right, you shouldn't be a hypocrite. It's either all or none. On the other hand I think we should all be understanding that everyone is different, and we should be sensitive to others feelings. That's where I wonder if south park crosses the line or not.
But hey, if you don't like it, don't watch it right. :)
-
Is South Park really in danger of being banned for insulted Comedy Central?
No chance whatsoever, just like with the US bombing Iran.
-

I second that. I can hardly enjoy that show…

The point being, terrorists are jealous of American lifestyle and they direct that anger towards our leaders, our freedom, our religions and our money.
And SP has a contract through 2009 by the way.
-
Eh, they've showed Muhammad in their episodes long before the whole mess with the danish caricatures. Remember the Super Best Friends episode?
-
@Solar:
Two episodes down, the show WILL be cancelled soon! :ninja:
It's not going to be cancelled ANYTIME soon, and if Comedy Central DOES drop it will get picked up immediately by some other network.
Think of it like having a wad of 90,000 dollars in your jacket and you throw it out. People will kill each other to get it after you throw it away.
-
I don't know if this has been already mentioned or if you guys have found it on wikipedia but it's great how they managed to put Mohammed into the show.
He's in the opening next to Satan.
-
notice the Darth Chef in place of Chef in the opening.
-
There's a third episode of South Park that's been pulled. It's the one about Jared the Subway guy from the sixth season. Talking about how he has aides that helped him through the diet but everyone interpreted it as AIDS.
But the sixth season DVD has it.
So there's hope of the ninth season DVD having the Bloody Mary episode and the Scientoligy episode. Of course, if Tom Cruise doesn't act like a douche and try remove it from the season DVD.

Of course it will be on the DVD. Not many people will pay for a set with episodes missing.
-
I know the Scientology episode is on the dvd, the real question is the Bloody Mary one. That was even removed from the new year lineup.
-
@Anime:

It most likely will be. If it isn't, for some reason, there is always the internet.
-
But hey, if you don't like it, don't watch it right. :)
I used to watch South Park. The first few seasons were actually funny. Now it has just gotten sick. The Paris Hilton episode really pissed me off. A dog shooting off his own head is not funny.
To be honest, I'm really hoping that South Park does indeed get canceled. But yeah, seeing what they've gotten away with in the past, it probably won't happen.

No offense, but I thought that was hilarious.
The only thing that was funnier was the dog committing seppuku.

No disrespect towards you or anything, but you really haven't seen "Cartoon Wars", and it shows.
-
usopp, you make it seem like that kind of stuff never happens on south park
-
but you really haven't seen "Cartoon Wars"
Yeah, talk about irony. I think this situation defines it.
-
This is similar to the South Park Banned thread, should these threads be merged?
-
I concur. It's essentially the same exact thread somewhere else.
-

o.O
My local BROADCASTER is showing it; they just started syndicating SP. It was funny once, but the problem is the joke only works when you don't see it coming.

It' the same here. We are getting all the older ones, of course. "My Future Self and Me" was the last one I saw. I'm downloading all the new ones though, since I don't get CC.
-

They showed that episode in syndication (Fox) just a few weeks ago. It only got cut because CC thought that Butters getting beaten by his parents was too much. Yet in syndication where SP gets edited a bit more, it's there! Weird…
-
Tonight's episode should be banned. For being pure trash.
What the hell were Trey and Matt thinking?
-
Dur… April 20th is national get high die... so towlie episode... seems like logic~ And a towlie ep shouldn't make sense. That was great that they made fun of that whole thing about Oprah and the guy who lied about his book.
-
…that was....wierd to say the least. First episode ever without any of the boys(even the terrance and phillip episode had cartman in it.
-
just like with the US bombing Iran.
I really wouldn't use that in an analogy to say something is unlikely as we probably will wind up bombing Iran pretty soon. The fact that Bush Administration is steadfastly refusing to say they won't do something while saying that they haven't decided to do something is a sign that they've already decided to do it.
-
Hey, I found this most excellent site for south park episodes: http://www.awesomo.net/
-
Holy crap! Thanks so much for that!
-
Last night's was ok, other than the fact that it made me think about Oprah's vagina.
-
this latest ep was fricking awesome i was laughing so hard i almost fell out of my chair,
it was easily on par with my two favorite South park eps "Scott tenorman must die", and "not without my anus",I hope they do more eps like this one and "not without my anus" that Focuses on the minor side characters.
-
Last night's was pretty good. I didn't really enjoy the first half, but I really enjoyed the 2nd half. And bonus points for insulting Al Gore.
-
They made fun of that press conference with him saying "Cereal" instead of "Serious".
Funny shit. -
I hate how they take long breaks after 5 episodes. Grr. >_>
I did like the TSST one, pretty funny, since I like seeing Cartman finally get punished.
-
TSST! was great. It's funny how Matt and Trey view kids. Time and time again you'll see they never fall completely into the, "Awww little kids are so cute and harmless." Like they say, "They're really little bastards." With TSST! they pound that point into the ground again by paralleling how to handle bastard children (not LITERALLY bastard children) in the same way we might handle dogs. I'm not talking physical punishment-wise, just how to show brats who is really in charge. Funny stuff. Those guys are great and yes I totally agree on their episode release schedule but such is life I guess, they produce excellent material and I guess we just have to appreciate it when we have it.
-
Last night's episode was probably the best one in a long time! I don't even play World of Warcraft, but I still laughed my ass off. The characters in the game really made me think of when they bought ninja weapons and were shown as anime characters.
-
"We don't have WoW accounts, we have lives!" I loved last night's episode. Blizzard was a good sport and helped South Park make that episode.
-
Making fun of MMORPGs? how fresh.
-
Bahaha.. That episode was totally awesome.
Just more reasons why Stans Dad is the best character in the show.
-
I remember I did a leveling up thing like that in a game once. It was Zelda II on the NES, and I spent a whole morining bring my character up 2-3 levels by killing these birds worth 3 exp.
But I loved all that netspeak that they used. I played a MMORPG once, but I got bored with it eventually (Within the day, I was just trying it out). I just prefer games with an end goal.
I did find the whole diareah thing as disgusting as it was funny. But it did make a great point of how addicive it is to some people.
-
Did anyone catch what Kenny's saying in the opening? I'm still trying to figure it out…
-

Something about Kyle's character having "big titties".
-
Do you know what would make a great episode of South Park? it there was an episode based on the show "Wife Swap" where Cartman's mom and Kyles mom happened to be the one's to switch places.
-
That ruled.
I don`t know how they continually come up with such rocking parables.
-
I caught it on youtube… XD
It's strangely all...so true.
-
Frustrated, degraded, down before you're done
Rejection, depression, can't get what you want
You ask me how I make my way
You ask me everywhere and why
You hang on every word I say
But the truth sounds like a lie(chorus)
Live to win, 'till you die, 'till the light dies in your eyes
Live to win, take it all, just keep fighting till you fallObsessive, compulsive, suffocate your mind
Confusion, delusions, kill your dreams in time
You ask me how I took the pain
Crawled up from my lowest low
Step by step and day by day
'Till there's one last breath to go(chorus)
Live to win, 'till you die, 'till the light dies in your eyes
Live to win, take it all, just keep fighting till you fallDay by day, kickin' all the way, I'm not cavin' in
Let another round begin, live to win
Yeah, live, yeah, win(solo)
(chorus)
Llive to win, 'till you die, 'till the light dies in your eyes
Live to win, take it all, just keep fighting 'till you fallDay by day, kickin' all the way, I'm not cavin' in
Let another round begin, live to win
Live to win
Live to win
Yeah, live, yeah, win -
I was a little bit let down by the WoW episode because they didn't really tear into it as much as I'd thought they would. But it still had some great moments: Blizzard staff acting horrified that anyone would PK, fearing the end of the world… of warcraft, and Stan's dad making death groans into the headset on the Best Buy instore demo PC.
-
"Gentleman, we are dealing with someone here…. who has absolutey no life."
Wonderful.
