This wasn't anywhere near being anti-Family Guy. They took a few jabs but if you pay attention you'll notice that they are knocking themselves more than Family Guy. Notice Cartmann's little diatribe where he reveals his true hatred for Family Guy. Who's pretty much the South Park poster-boy? Cartmann. Replace everytime he refers to himself with 'South Park' and you'll see that they're actually talking about how their show gets compared to South Park with it's borderline humor, even though the shows utilize two completely different methods of delivering jokes. Now add in that Cartmann is well-known for being a bitchy asswipe and it's clear that his claims are obviously Trey & Matt fully acknowledging the fact that all they're doing is bitching about the whole situation and since we know both Kyle and Stan are actually Matt and Trey, they totally respect and enjoy Family Guy.

If you watch SP these days with your brain on idle then you'll completely miss the real points.

I think there was a nod to the Scientology incident of their episode being banned in England in there, and the fact that they make fun of other religions as well.

Yes, Yes. You have to be up to date on stuff to get the full force of SP. It CAN be just mindless humor, but it can also be something more if you pay attention.

Have Matt and Trey ever said anything serious in an interview? Besides their jabs at Sean Penn and Tom Cruise I doubt that. They once said they wanted Kim Jong Il to perform 'So Ronery' at the Academy Awards if it was nominated.

I'm sure they don't like being compared to it (read my post again and you'll see that I even said they probably stated as such via Cartman) but since Cartman is the embodiment of pure evil, it's like them admitting their hatred of it is purely on an immature and unfounded level. Whatever Kyle or Stan say, you can be certain that's what they really think.

Simply amazing. From asshole news reporters to illegal immigrants as manatees (check out where they came from and listen closely to the 'FOX' President's speech about/to them) between these two episodes more things including SP itself have been trashed and destroyed in such amazing ways. They are incredible writers.

And to top it all off they actually made Comedy Central out to be the pusses they are which like Cartman's Tenorman plan, must have been the big idea all along.

I wouldn't want to fuck with Matt or Trey. Seriously.

These two episodes, in all their glory, were designed with one idea in mind. Everything that transpired, making fun of dumbass reporters trying to blame everything (including the first ammendment) on the President, politicians' inherent weakness/stupidity when it comes to potential voters, Family Guy having stupid but fun humor, Simpsons being tired, South Park itself for becoming filled with commentary and messages, dumb action films, terroristic/fear-instilling threats being used to accomplish goals even here at home, the ignorance of the public and last but most certainly not least, the media running away from potential threats.

All of that lead up to the last two minutes which served the purpose of Trey and Matt getting their revenge on Comedy Central for censoring/pulling their episode about Tom Cruise. Think about it, if there was one steady theme throughout, it was that censoring free speech makes you a giant pussy and it shows you don't stand for anything except covering your own ass.

They DID animate that scene. I can't confirm that but it makes perfect sense that they did, full-well knowing Comedy Central WOULD puss out and censor it. Even take the president's comment afterwards, "Oh it wasn't that bad, it was just him standing there.", that's because they did animate the scene and it was MEANT to be seen. However, since Comedy Central wouldn't air it, the entire theme of the episode was turned entirely on them for being too scared to air it, just like with the episode they pulled a few weeks ago.

Like I said, I wouldn't wanna piss those two guys off :laugh:

Well, Muhammad was in the episode about the Super Best Friends…with no problems at all. And they reshow that one a lot.

My political science teachers are having a heyday; "If we survive the upcoming nuclear war, President George W. Actually a LOT of SP episodes have been banned. This isn't anything new, but I think they were super-pissed that it was the Scientology episode.

My best guess is that other than being way random and strange, they were representing illegal immigrants. Now if Matt and Trey really wanted to drive the point home, I imagine they would have no compunctions about making them plain as day illegal immigrants but the way they're handled is suspicious. Note where they hail from, foreign countries south of the border. There are manatees in the US too so…

Furthermore check out the 'Fox' President's speech about them. He's obviously standing in for political figure X be it the President himself or anyone in a political position of power (which is made clear in the previous episode when both men address each other as "Mr. President"). Note how he talks about how he's powerless to stop them, tell them what to do or take away their idea balls (or chance of citizenship if you will) because if he even tries they'll stop working and then Family Guy (or our nation if you will) will come to a halt. He's being portrayed as a weakling just like everyone in DC.

I can't get over these recent episodes. They're just too good.

South Park has made fun of itself alot these last few episodes. Family Guy was metaphoric for South Park, the whole message of the last two episodes was clearly directed at Scientology, and Scientologists, all in an attempt to get Isaac Hayes back. It has also reinforced the idea that either everything is ok to make fun of, or nothing is, which is Matt and Trey's own personal stand on what they write.

The whole idea of "Burying your heads in sand" idea is just ignoring the problem, not getting it solved, and in fact reminds me of all of the Dr. Seuss editorial comics involving the US being "Ostriches" with our heads always buried, and that ignoring a problem is not going to make it go away.

Well, it wasn't attacking the First Ammendment. It was actually an attack on the press in general.

Trey and Matt said it best, they "hate Republicans", but they "really fucking hate Liberals". They're not out to make any political statements in the show. Not once have they taken a side or a stand that any observant viewer could truly say is one side or the other.

What they attack is stupidity.

Republican, Democrat, whatever, you can admit ALL sides have their wackos, stupid points and scumbags. They're out to attack whatever side so long as it's something that's just wrong/dumb.

Now the thing about the reporters, I don't wanna get into a political debate so let's make that very clear, but the point is that the press does lean a certain way and often try to kinda shove things under the Bush Administration's carpet even when it has nothing to do with them. This is a fact. Sorry if you don't like it but is has and does happen. I'm not saying the other side doesn't pull tricks as well but they try (and succeed) in pinning a lot of crap on him or the people in his administration.

This was showing how something as positive (and really the foundation of the press themselves) is attempted to be pinned on him as a negative fault of his.

And on the other hand we have Bush caving into the demands of freaking manatees (illegal immigrants) to keep a show on the air.

There's just so much to enjoy in the show.

Is South Park really in danger of being banned for insulted Comedy Central? I always had the impression that South Park "owned" Comedy Central, being their number one show. I wasn't surprised at all, and wouldn't be surprised if they do more.
