Ohhh, now the gloves are off, so to speak. And I admit I do not know who Takamura is talking with.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

Not a bad strategy to rely on Mashiba short temper. I hope the match doesn't last to long.

Isn't it the guy that had a 2 ton punch or something?
If you'd look to the top of this page you'd learn that he is none other than the regular. How no one but me seem to have made notice of him before honestly suprises me. I can't wait to learn who he is and why he had those boxer i will never surrender piercing eyes in that one scene. The juciest mystery in Ippo in a loong while if you ask me

His face look so damn intense I had to assume he was some boxer. He seems the kind of people Sendo would hang out with. I wonder if he's going to become relevant or if it's like when Taka became friend's with Itagaki's dad.

Not a bad strategy to take advantage of your opponent's weakness, but it's fucking shitty to cheat.
Not a bad strategy to take advantage of your opponent's weakness, but it's fucking shitty to cheat.
Is it really cheating if the referee can't tell?
I'm just glad he doesn't suddenly become stronger than Mashiba or the plan wasn't as stupid as use an old technique that didn't work. The plan is to win despite being weaker with well established weakness not a magical technique that solves everything.
Altough nothing will ever beat Imai knowing he is not equipped for a fight with Itagaki but beating him with pure strategy under a minute(if I remember right). And now after typing that I have to read it again.
Now that we know the plan tho and we already know our character is superior in every way dragging it out would just be boring. And a twist where the opponent gets suddenly strong would be kind of asspulish.
In another subject: What is your top 5 or 10 of Ippo's fight(the manga)? Can also do worst.
1: Ippo vs Sendo (second fight)
2. Ippo vs Sawamura
3. Sawamura vs Mashiba
4. Takamura vs Hawk
5. Imai vs Itagaki (short but glorious)

It's totally cheating. Even if the ref doesn't catch it, it's cheating if you break the rules. And headbutts and elbows are against the rules.
Top 5? Hmmmm:
1. Takamura vs. Hawk
2. Ippo vs. Sendo (2nd)
3. Date vs. Martinez
4. Vorg vs. Elliot
5. Ippo vs. Gonzales
I'd say anything that the judge doesn't call falls under veteran tactics.
Which is a skill set in itself.
Lots of cheaters are and have been world champs then

Pretty much shitty as it is.

Oh man i remember that Golata nutpunching brawl, nothing subtle about those lowblows. On a related note the Sawamura - Mashiba foulathon was a good one. And y'know i'm gonna be the only guy here who thinks this but i enjoyed the early match against that guy with the weak punch and who crossarmed blocked and neutralized Ippo
Maybe Mashiba will learn a lesson or two?

Marron is going to get Iga killed though.
What use is a world ranking if he can't keep fighting afterwards?
Seems like a sink or sink a little later on strategy.
But i guess Marron only wants to cash out on the trainers rep.

Well that's nice.
When Ippo get in a rythm I enjoy the hell out of it.
Nice to know that even when he's matured, Mashiba is still a dick.

And interesting look:

Poor Ippo. Looking back at why he's lost, and it's so simple. Must make him feel like an idiot.
Cool detail to put in if it's true. And I can't believe the coach didn't catch that. But I guess he got swept in Ippo's style of winning.

I think you put the wrong link. This one is about the box office.
Grah, I'm an idiot.
But yeah, how did the coach not catch that?
But yeah, how did the coach not catch that?
I'm going with he got engrossed in Ippo's resilience. Basically they got overconfident and got confortable in winging it.
Falling in love with one succesful aspect and forgetting the basics sounds pretty true to the fall of many great fighters. Isn't that an essential factor in what happend to Mike Tyson, started looking too hard for the big knockout and forgot all about the set up required for it to land. I could see that being the inspiration since they have compared Ippo to Tyson from time to time
It probably why I like it. It seems obvious but at the same time I can see the coach love and trust in Ippo blinding him to Ippo being too reckless. And Ippo is so much about heart I can see him forgetting some of the fundamentals.
It's kind of what Woli's trainer was talking about where they have form they have develop a version of boxing that would destroy Ippo because they are forgetting about being reasonable and just focusing on having guts.
Wow, when shounen grit and determination are what causes the heroes downfall instead of their victory. Forgetting fundamentals is a pretty good character realization.
And i seem to remember Volg's trainer noting that the coach does idealize the idea of guts despite how it usually turns out. I dunno if that is a call back but it feels believable enough for it to be a blind spot for the coach. I mean it would seem fairly in character for a man who previously ruined his own hands on the stubborn belief that heart > all.
Interesting chapter. The conversation with Kimura and Aoki reminded me that I like how this series goes beyond the shonen routine and explores other grounds instead.
I still can't tell whether we will or won't see Ippo step back on a ring (only thing I'm sure about is that it should still take a while if he ever does, as he must first build up the resolve to confront what's-her-name), but doubtlessly I am enjoying the ride.
All the signs are there for Ippo to step back. Realizing his flaws, not confirmed punch drunk, love for the sport and more. All he needs is a spark to give up his current situation for one more challenge. Wonder who it'll be.
If Ippo does decide to go back he should make sure at least to wait long enough to give his brain a rest.
Getting really technical lately:

That said, Ippo beats himself up way to much (pun intended). It's good to have humility, but not to act like you're zero.
I'll give credit that I am almost forgetting how much I don't want Ippo back.
I'm happy it grew back. It looked weird. I hope it will go back to looking the same.
That said, Ippo beats himself up way to much (pun intended).
That's Ippo for you. The guy should be engaged to Kumi by now but he still can barely talk to her.
Takamura needs to become his life coach.
Oh, I'm enjoying this.
But I can't help but feel these chapters only further reinforce a feeling I've harbored firmly for a good long while now:
How utterly guaranteed Kamogawa's coaching style was to lead Ippo to an early retirement.
Takamura needs to become his life coach.
Dude is the worst ladies man in the group.
Aoki should be the getting laid coach
Dude is the worst ladies man in the group.
Aoki should be the getting laid coach
Ippo doesn't need someone to help him take steps. He needs someone to give him massive kick in to balls and force to act take action. He doesn't have enough self-awareness to use a simple wingman. He needs the asshole friend that has made it his mission to get him laid.
Ippo can't keep his mouth shut:

I do doubt that this fight will be as big a one as Bison, but it might be the start of an indication that the higher up the weights you go, the harder the fights. Yes it's still Middleweight, but it's the world.
Goat is a ridicoulous name and not great a look on a coat.
Takamura's title fights tend to be good. I hope this one is not an exception.
I always like those fights where there is a trick that's putting people of their game. Like Gedoh with his bag of tricks, but with more actual skill and strength behind the magic trick
Takamura is Takamura:
https://readms.net/r/hajime_no_ippo/1267/6015/1
And poor Kamogawa, he just can't let Ippo go.
Of course Takamura does it like that:
https://readms.net/r/hajime_no_ippo/1268/6036/1
Ippo can't just give it up though, like we knew he couldn't.
It was still ballsy to leave the hero on the sidelines for all those chapters.
And now he's gonna George Foreman the shit outta this

Wouldn't that require him to make a comeback after at least 10 years of inaction:ninja:
Boring Takamura fight. I think that's a first or maybe the second time it happened. It wasn't bad just boring and more in service of the plot.
Looking forward to the next 3-5 chapters of shenenigans.

Gotta also endorse an auto repair company.
Ippo, you are obsessed:
https://readms.net/r/hajime_no_ippo/1269/6049/1
And his mom needs to figure out if she supports him or not.
The hair is fiinally back to normal. IveI miss it.
If Ippo goes back to boxing I hope he goes on proper dates with Kumi first and gets laid.

I'm sure she doesn't want to force him into the family business and will let him do what he wants. But she also not going to encourage her son in a career that destroys his body(and pay like shit). She's basically the Kumi of Ippo. Like how Kumi helps her brother despite not being a fan.
I'm sure she doesn't want to force him into the family business and will let him do what he wants.
She originally was going to close down the family business due to Ippo's boxing putting a lot of the burden of her running the business by herself…..until Ippo threw a hissy fit about it.
But she also not going to encourage her son in a career that destroys his body(and pay like shit). She's basically the Kumi of Ippo. Like how Kumi helps her brother despite not being a fan.
Except Kumi's been to Mashiba's fights:ninja:

Fair enough. But the mom doesn't complain to Ippo constantly so I think it evens out. Or does Kumi only complain to Ippo not Mashiba?
Anyway I think it's clear she doesn't like it but also makes sure to not push her vision into Ippo. Just let him do his thing.
That boy needs to get laid.
