the problem is that we arent even half way through the story. According to Takamuras "i will conquer 6 classes". Ippo will have to lose at some point but losing to someone who is a copy of Ricardo is just wrong

I really enjoy the 1028 way more with the translation. You can see the hearth put by Imai to win that think. And get me a warm feeling to see Itagaki realize he is slower than Imai after the blow he took. And more important, the speed lost in less than a minute.
-
Please tell me Itakagi's loss means the end of that wrold of speed crap.
-

Naw it'll probably get even worse for the inevitable rematch where he becomes the god of time and space, instantly wins 10 weight classes and Takamura concedes that Itagaki is superior to him in every way
-
Can anybody say when was the last time we've seen Ippo fight ? More than a year ? 2 ? It feels like forever.
-
Ippo has to win this, he can't lose to a guy who lost to Ricardo twice (well Date lost too, but at least Ricardo acknowledged him after his second loss)
-
Iizuka Shouzou has been cast to voice Kamogawa Genji in the upcoming third Hajime no Ippo TV series. If anyone can tackle the role, it's Iizuka.
-

The only problem I see is the timing.
As it was mentioned before, based on Takamura's class campaign this series has a long ways to go. If Ippo beats him this time around, he's only one fight from Ricardo. I always figured that when he beat Ricardo it would be near the end of the series. I don't see him losing in a fight against Ricardo when he fights him.So, unless Morikawa has plans to delay Ippo V. Ricardo out the waz after his victory against Gonzales I could see Ippo losing to Gonzales in this fight.
-
I figure Ippo will have at least two title defenses after taking Ricardo's belt, one against Sendou and the other against Miyata.
-
@Yuugi's:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there some portion of the series that said Miyata V. Ippo could never happen?
I can't really remember where it was exactly but I vaguely remember Ippo coming to the realization that he couldn't fight Miyata or something. -
new voice actress for Kumi?

I can't really remember where it was exactly but I vaguely remember Ippo coming to the realization that he couldn't fight Miyata or something.that was when Ippo vs Miyata was planned to happen and Miyata backed out because he had to fight Randy Boy Jr. But we all know that eventually Ippo vs Miyata will happen probably as WBA and WBC champions
-
God the pacing of this chapters is sooo slow and dragged out, its so much worse than others, its 3 chapters just them walking into the ring. Could have been done in a few pages easily.
-
This song will be the opening of "Rising":
Yakan Hikou, by Wasureranneyo.
-
Out of all the opening songs this is my least favourite, but it's still pretty good. Nice to see that they stick to the tradition of using rock songs for ippo.^^
-
Yeah, it seems to lack the intensity the previous OPs had, but maybe the tv size edit, along with the animation, will make it better.
-
New season for the anime came out today, its also up online
-
What I really don't like is the announcer's voice. Kamogawa is OK tho.
-
I don't read this manga but I do watch the anime…who else is watching it? Also how long is it on a break?
-
Hajime no Ippo The Fighting! Rising episode #11 will air on December 28. I'm really looking forward to Sawamura getting his ass handed to him. I'll also be glad to see this David Eagle fellow in action. As a foil to Bryan Hawk it will be interesting to see how he matches up against a guy like Takamura, especially after Takamura was the hometown hero during his fight with Hawk but blew it by using Hawk's line.
-
And today's ep wraps up the Takamura vs Eagle fight. Does anyone know when the Kamogawa/Nekota vs Anderson fight will happen? I mean, in the story. I totally forgot.

I think its next.
-
yeah, it seems that season 3 will end with Nekota/kamogawa ark, wich will be coming next.
-
Started this series recently, and it's probably my favorite sports manga. I did not realize how long it was however, so it might take a while for me to catch up, the anime is excellent though!!!

With every season/movie/special combined, they are only up to the Kamogawa flashback arc, keep that in mind.

1043-46 came out the other day. I may be alone with my opinion but this fight is actually kind of good for a change. Or at least much better than most of Ippo's previous ones. Gedo and Woli still make me shudder.
-
I'm waiting for Ippo to lose this fight. All the build up to it, talking about how he's weaker, and his general attitude, he needs a loss.
-
He already lost, and it wasn't pretty (especially the aftermath). I guess that's good enough for Morikawa
-
You mean his fight against Date? Yes, he lost that one, but I think he needs a loss at the World Level.
-
Yeah, since it looks like Ippo didn't get an attitude check from Itagaki's loss I think he is due for a loss of his own. That or someone comes up to him between rounds and tells him to snap out of it. I do wonder what it is that is holding Ippo down right now. Is it guilt from the Kojima fight?
-
This talk about Gonzalez's bad habits makes me think that'll be his downfall. Plus, I think Ippo needs to prove that he did not get weaker. Sure, he could prove that by putting up a good fight and he doesn't necessarily have to win the bout, but for Ippo to lose his first world stage fight would put him back far. Even if it is against #2.
I can see Ippo losing against the #1 or another world opponent though after this. Numbers/rankings doesn't necessarily mean you are better than everyone lower than you all the time. Ippo can get cocky from a win off of this fight and lose to a lower seeded opponent. Overall, I'm enjoying the fight and I wonder if health issues will come to play a role in Ippo's career in the future. Taking all these hits it has to whether it be with his brain or body.
-
-
GOD DAMN was that great! Probably one of my favourite fighters now, I love mind games - that was great!
-
That panel. That hit! Smooth and clean.
-
-
Yeah, that ended pretty abruptly…
! The chapter that is.
-
God damn you all.
-
Sooo..has the anime ended after Kamogawa's flashback?
-

Yeah, the third TV series is over.
-
I'm still stunned by the animation of the last episode. Dat Kamogawa punch !
-
How often do chapters come out?
-
It's kind of random
-
Chapter 1051 out today. I think it's quiet frustration having to read about Ippo taking so many hits, while processing that slowly. Especially as there are not that many chapters frequently released. Overall I think it's a great manga, but waiting for new chapters is a pain.
-
Some Ippo love on the main page of Mangastream's site.
Well, this chapter pretty much.confirms this is going to be a long drawn out fight. No surprise seeing as how it's his first World match.
-
! I still wish we could pretend Woli never happened.
-
You know that after reading latest chapter…an impossible thought came to my head... Ippo might actually lose this. I know its crazy but there is very small chance that Ippo wont pull out comeback this time... what could result interesting change to the story because Ippo and Kamokawa could not continue like this without some major changes on tactics...
-
Mangastream has 1053 and 1054.
I have a bad feeling about the use of the Dempsey Roll.
If it happened after the Mexican guy "released" himself than it might have been a turn point, but in the same chapter? This will backfire badly.Anyone wants to explain the Metztli thing? Because reading the wiki description, the only thing i remember is the moon rabbits in Naruto
[h=1][/h] -
Don't forget the Coach thought of something too. The thought of why he kept thinking back to that Woli match. He didn't discuss anything with Ippo about that so he might have a plan which he is saving for their true last ditch effort.
-
If Gonzalez loses because he's not fighting smart anymore and is going toe-to-toe with Ippo which is eventually going to get him punched because that's Gonzalez's "true nature" or something, hahahaha!
Even if it was foreshadowed before the match, Gonzalez's true fighting nature, that is still one stupid way to make Gonzalez lose when he so clearly outmatched and could have won against Ippo by fighting smart. I believe that for most of his matches Ippo forced his opponents to go toe-to-toe with him when they were winning from long range. Gonzalez? He does it to himself. It would have worked better for me if Gonzalez wasn't getting anywhere with his long range careful fighting style so he decided to enter 'Metztli Mode' to make better progression. Nope, he just does it to start a street fight!
What happened to the smart world class boxer that thought 2 steps ahead and planned everything from the beginning of the match? Thrown out the window at the last second while you're winning!? I'm completely ok with Ippo winning, but this way? Eh…
