She is pretty great with her brother. She helps with his injuries, deal with with his jealousy/dickishness and go to his matches. But she's not nearly as to the idea of Ippo destroying which I can understand when trying to make a relationship. And she's only be more open about now that Ippo retired.

It seems i ended up trying to discredit Kemi which wasn't my intention. I was trying to say that I think both Kemi and Mom are in similar position as people that are accepting their boxer family member despite not liking what it does to them. I like Ippo's mom. I hope she gets some grandkids.

Its quite honestly because she knows, deep down, that he'll go back to it. No matter how much she fights for a normal and safe relationship, she sees him drifting back to danger. You could see it in her reaction to when she visited Ippo after the news of being punch drunk. A part of her was happy that he was finally out of danger but the other part was devastated that his dream was over. She's emotionally conflicted and its why she acts so selfish and protective over him. Eventually, like her brother, she's gotta learn that boxing is his path and his passion. If she can't, she's gotta let him go.

I don't mind it. I don't need Ippo to be good at everything (just to finally give Kemi what she deserves) and it's not his profession.
Shinoda is frustrating because usually even if the boxer lose there's something about the trainer that tells me he has skills in handling a boxer. Except the guy that was with Hawks. He was just coasting on his fighter's talent. I don't think I ever sheen Shinoda be competent. Except maybe with Itagaki but he seems to encourage how much of a pompous ass he is so it's for me to see it as positive.
Who is Shigeta?
Shigeta was the guy that Sendo kicked the shit out of, who's trainer didn't throw in the towel soon enough because he thought Shigeta could take it. Then after getting the shit kicked out of him Shigeta became scared of fists (or PTSD if you will), and had to retire as a boxer.

Ippo is such a lovable goof with his 1s. But with some guidance he could really become a great coach.
We don't know if she really cares for him beyond being one of her students. We only met her in a special chapter about Sendo as a kid.

Really? I always felt like Sendo was the impatient reckless one and he was the calmer one with great admiration for his mentor. Like if you refuse a fight to Sendo he will probably fly the handle and will just ignore your refusal where Hoshi would try to find a compromise and realistic way to do it.

I could see Martinez denying him. I'm not sure Sendo has enough of a profile to intrigue him. His fighting style is pretty straight, he got a decent number of losses and his ranking is not that high.

Carribean. So I had zero relation to english. I was a solid C or D student and problably wouldn't be able to order a burger.
Than my mother dropped me at my aunt place for a summer. With caption and some Life of Zack and Cody(that I also watch in native tongue at home) I had to decipher that mysterious language. Then lots of VO Tv shows and some discussion did the rest. But the bulk of understanding spoken and written english (and grammar) really came in that summer.

Sadly no. I keep most of what I remember in my head by watching anime and reading manga in original Japanese when I can.
Living in Japan for 10 months helps sink the language in your head pretty deep. If I moved back I would probably get back to my conversational level pretty quick. Just don't ask me to be the translator at a business meeting.

I find Gonzalez fairly boring. But his anouncement and disreguard for the coach really me a king acting on his whims.
Sendo's comment on Gonzalez arrogance felt strange coming from him. That's an Ippo. I feel like this is the confidence he has, that he love Ippo to have and that he shares with people like Sawamura or Takamura. Maybe even Miyata.
I think the coach is fine. He's looking outr for his boxer and his reputation. I'm sure Sendo's or Vorg's coach might do the same. A career and sponsors can be a fragile thing.

He does have 68 match of match of total domination(Can you actually have time to do so many? It must take time to set them up). So even the slightest chunk in the armor is a big deal.

Yeah i mean it is a thing worth noting. But scrambling to bullshit it away just makes the fighter look worse. Seems like such a rookie move from an experienced trainer, you'd never catch Kamogawa trying to bullshit away a legitimate down to save face. But yeah it is insane how many that dude has, Chavez had like 40 defenses to his name and i can't think of anyone in real life who has done more.

Oh without a doubt Woli. I was close to dropping the whole thing during that bullshit arc. But i mean in general i don't dislike alot of the opponents, but i find brawl with your spirit dudes like Gonzales and Sendo to be less interesting then fighters with a gimmick. But yeah Mashiba hits a good balance betwenn not afraid to get up close but still having interesting technique
I still remember Ippos friend having a title match against Mashiba, omg that fight was so good.
At first i thought you meant Miyata, but then i realized you meant Kimura lol. Yeah that one had a good arc to it, before the after this i'll retire angle became a running gag. And it is always nice when the "losers" get their spotlight moments
Each of the Kamogawa boxers have had their chances at a belt, but only Takamura and Ippo have gotten one. If Itagaki can get off his high horse he may get another, and who knows about Aokimura. I am interested to see where the two newbies go.

Itagaki might be the only character I genuinely hate in this manga. Both as a boxer and person. So any winn for him is a loss for me.
Itagaki is sort of a mini-woli. But more tolerable.
